Great add-on
- Pros: Wow, super cooling! cut my idle/load temps in half on my 4850. Was running 80c/105+ (thermal shutdown) because of clogged ati stock cooler, now sitting at 30/53c with this and turbo module. Very impressed!
- Cons: Adhesive on ram/vr sinks stinks. Ended up getting some Arctic Alumina Adhesive and using that to stick them on.
- Other Thoughts: Without turbo module, this cooler doesnt see its full potential.. For the cost of the too parts though, there's no better upgrade that I can think of for your video subsystem.
Works well and is cheap!
- Pros: Works well, relatively easy to mount, comes with RAM and regulator heat-sinks, comes with Arctic Cooling's excellent heatsink compound (that beat out Arctic Silver in several head-to-head reviews), universal mounting, works VERY well - my Sapphire HD3870 runs quite a bit cooler now and even running DDO at full resolution and 8xAA the system no longer crashes! And OCCT Power Supply test runs 8Hrs without crashing or errors after this upgrade.
- Cons: BIG and TALL! Takes up the slot next door and needs lots of room overhead as well. I forgot to use an eraser to clean my RAM chips before sticking the heat sinks on and 2 of them fell off after the main heat sink was mounted. I haven't pulled the heat sink off to clean the chips and reattach them yet, though I need too.
- Other Thoughts: I added the accessory fan to this, not so much to keep the GPU cool but to provide the airflow needed to keep the south-bridge on my Intel motherboard cool. But the fan does make a BIG difference in the GPU temps as well, though if not needed for the motherboard cooling I would have used the heatsink without the fan.
amazing
- Pros: Cheap, fast, easy, quiet, keeps cards cool.
- Cons: NONE.
- Other Thoughts: I have two hd 4850s running in crossfire at 675/1130 and they idle at ~35c. Under load they never go over high 40s. I have an Antec 900 so I have plenty of airflow to support "passive" cooling.
A case with good air circulation is a must.
