5 out of 5 eggsARCTIC COOLING Accelero Xtreme 9800

Pros: keeps vga nice and cool. had to cut some fins at one end to fit my card (XFX PVT98WYDFH GeForce 9800 GTX+) but no big deal.

Cons: large.

Other Thoughts: good if you have the room

3 out of 5 eggsNEEDS MODIFICATION

Pros: Dropped my temps from 76c to 31c.

Cons: NOT very clear as to what cards it does fit. Took about 2hrs of mods to get this cooler to fit my pny 9800gt 1gb ram. YES IT DOES FIT. have to take 4 fins off and 3 clearance cuts and 5 careful heatpipe bends and all is good. was worth the headache for the temps.

2 out of 5 eggsPretty Lame

Pros: Well, I got it to fit.

Cons: Right out of the box this cooler didn't fit my PNY 9800GTX+ which I bought from The Egg. It took me several hours work with my Dremel tool modifying it to fit my card. I'm about ready to install it and will comment on temps ASAP. The cooler itself is very large, borderline for anything less than a full tower. Owners manual is awfully sketchy and thin.

Other Thoughts: I bought this item at another retailer for much (half) less and now I see why. I'd advise against buying this cooler unless you are sure it will fit your particular card or are confident modifying it.

5 out of 5 eggsWe have a winner

Pros: I got it for my EVGA 9800GTX (NOT the + model).

Where do I begin? Well, it brought my idle temp down by 20 degrees. Brought my load temperature down by 25-30 degrees. And did I mention this was achieved while running this bad boy at a LOWER fan speed than I had the 9800GTX's stock fans running at?

Its quiet... too quiet. I set the fan manually to 80% to see if I could maybe hear it... couldn't hear a thing... completely masked by the other fans in the computer. (I guarantee that you will never need to run the fan speed at above 50%... this thing keeps your card COOL).

The installation went pretty smoothly, just follow the directions well... you don't need to use an eraser like it says, just clean well with alcohol.

Came with a sticker like all of their other products do.

Cons: Like another reviewer wrote, the little memory heatsinks don't stick as well as I wish but I just pressed and held them down for about 5-10 seconds and they stuck.

Its huge.... make sure your motherboard has an extra 2-3 slot-wide space under your video card slot.

Also, make sure your 9000 series video card is compatible with this, read the other reviews here.

Price: you're buying this for a card thats about to be 2 generations old (when the new directx11 nvidia cards are released). It should be cheaper.

Other Thoughts: You MUST get this if you are planning on at least doing some decent overclocking on your video card (I have my 9800GTX running from stock 675mhz core to 806mhz core, 1205 memory, etc). Even if you overclock your card the highest you can, you will never have to worry about the temperature with this beauty.

1 out of 5 eggsWill not fit!

Pros: It looks great, I only wish I could use it.

Cons: It doesn't fit. I bought this hoping to cool my overheating 9800GT. I waited a week for it to get to my house, and I was excited to finally be able to play games again. It won't fit! If newegg sells it to fit ALL 9800 GT's it should fit ALL 9800 GT's. It won't fit my EVGA 9800 AT ALL. It's completely different from the design. I'm requesting an RMA right now to hopefully get this resolved, but I'm very disappointed, I've never had a problem with newegg, but they really should clarify that this will only fit SOME 9800GT's.

Other Thoughts: I guess it would have been great, had it fit.

2 out of 5 eggsWon't fit

Pros: Looks great, nice construction, good price, great idea!

Cons: Here we go! First off, it is so mismatched with my EVGA 9800gt. Everything is about 2cm off. And after trying to force the gpu cooler into place,it seems to set right. But then, there is no place to plug the fans into the card because the connector is faced up and not out. Then Heatsink doesn't even make contact with the chip.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame that there weren't more detailed specs for this.Maybe it does fit some manufacturer's 9800gt. Now that I tried to force it, I bent some fins and am now stuck with it. Who knows, maybe someone may come along with a GPU overheating problem like mine and I can help them by bestowing my useless product on them.

5 out of 5 eggsSad day for a great product

Pros: great construction and well disigned, excellent amount of parts given to do job properly, better then most instruction and high grade of aluminum and copper used to manufacture product.

Cons: Does not fit on a 9800gt and chances are it doesn't fit on everythink that newegg states on the specifications list. acording to the manufacture it is disigned to fit on the 9800 gtx and the 9800 gtx+. It was a Huge disappointment sense I had to wait about a day for some new thermal pads for the cards ram due to removing them to attempt to fit the cooler.

Other Thoughts: Well I wish the facts on the specs were straight before I ordered this. As far as AC is concerned they do not diserve any criticism for this product. the only issue I have is its not the correct part for the application its stated. (note: the reason it will not fit is due to the coompacitors that Nvidia used on there latest 9800gt)
Im not going to knock Artic cooling for the matter, so I gave the product 5 eggs.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: see thoughts

Cons: see thoughts

Other Thoughts: I also have an XFX 9800 as other poster. This unit would not fit. It's too long to fit in the average box. I'm reluctant to buy a different one, if anyone knows of a cooling system that fits that card I'd appreciate it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very nice cooler for the 9800gtx. Brought my idle temps down to 55c from 65c and Under load temps to 68c down from 82c.

Cons: It is HUGE. I thought it was going to be a standard aftermarket cooler size, but it takes 3 PCI slots for your card to fit.

Other Thoughts: Even though it takes up 3 PCI slots, I still got them to fit in SLI. It barely fit and my top card runs about 8c higher due to less airflow, but it still fits none the less. My bottom card runs at 58c under load and 47c idle.
