5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price, can't beat it

This review is from: ARCTIC Alpine 64 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - AMD, Supports Multiple Sockets 92mm PWM Fan at 23dBA

Pros: - Great Fan
- Stays Quiet like the page says
- Lower profile than most cpu coolers

Cons: - First one came broken but Newegg replaced it in a week
- Hard to install

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap cooler who isn't going to be going to be pushing their computer too hard. Some people in the reviews say that it's not good for cpu intensive tasks but I have to disagree. I use this for my studio computer and I run renders and tons of programs on this card all the time and it keeps my card fairly cool especially when I overclock my card from base 3.5 to 4.5. This may be because of the setup I have but it works great with it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks awesome.

This review is from: ARCTIC Alpine 64 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - AMD, Supports Multiple Sockets 92mm PWM Fan at 23dBA

Pros: not as bulky as some aftermarket coolers.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: The fan is quiet cant even tell its on, not in the way of the ram slots. Keeps cpu around 50-55 C full load so I am pleased.

3 out of 5 eggsDifficult to install

This review is from: ARCTIC Alpine 64 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - AMD, Supports Multiple Sockets 92mm PWM Fan at 23dBA

Pros: Cools ok. Measured with SpeedFan 4.5.1 the stock cooler on A8-7600 APU idle temp 39C, 1540 RPM and loaded 55C, 2160RPM. With the Alpine 64 the idle temp was 27C, 950 RPM and full load was 54C, 1580 RPM. Tested using Heavy Load software.

Cons: It was much more difficult to install than a stock cooler. Barely clears the Ram on MSI A68hm grenade motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Overall better than the stock cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsGood fan for gaming but not CPU intensive stuff.

This review is from: ARCTIC Alpine 64 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - AMD, Supports Multiple Sockets 92mm PWM Fan at 23dBA

Pros: Fan is much more quiet than be stock fan and can barely or not hear it while over a voice chat which is good for me. Can handle gaming fine.
Temps:
Idle temp at around 64-70°F if not doing anything.
Doing something is around 80-100°F.
Gaming 100-130°F.

Cons: Can NOT handle anything CPU intensive whatsoever. Overheated at least 2 times somewhere at my auto shutdown at 190°F. <.<
When I unboxed it one of the 4 pieces connecting the fan and its grate thingy to the radiator was broken. (Couldn't see a real problem with it being broke, if 2 were broke that would be a return.)

Fan to radiator mounts could be made better so they don't break so easily.

Other Thoughts: Fan was made to be more quiet than to handle instensive things.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken

This review is from: ARCTIC Alpine 64 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - AMD, Supports Multiple Sockets 92mm PWM Fan at 23dBA

Pros: None

Cons: I had ordered this aftermarket cpu cooler to replace my stock amd fan, item came with a fan blade broken off and the blade guard as well was in pieces. Would be nice for newegg to do some quality control on these products before selling them.

4 out of 5 eggsGood heatsink, but not for everything

This review is from: ARCTIC Alpine 64 Pro Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - AMD, Supports Multiple Sockets 92mm PWM Fan at 23dBA

Pros: Incredibly quiet. It was quiet enough that I chose to just run it on max the entire time because it honestly didn't create much extra noise.

Cons: Can't handle everything, and I realize that was my own fault in retrospect for choosing the budget heat sink. Running an FX8320 CPU in my build for chess calculations, and it couldn't handle it under full load. Thought the problem was my thermal paste or perhaps improper air flow, but after swapping in the stock heat sink, my computer wouldn't go over 60C on full load. To contrast, I was having issues with the CPU hitting 70C+ with this heat sink.

Other Thoughts: For quad or hex cores on a gaming computer, I could see this being great. Worked fine when I played most games. Literally thought my computer was broken on start up because of how little noise this thing made. However, for sustained loads on an octo core, probably not the best choice.
