4 out of 5 eggsGood heatsink, but not for everything

Pros: Incredibly quiet. It was quiet enough that I chose to just run it on max the entire time because it honestly didn't create much extra noise.

Cons: Can't handle everything, and I realize that was my own fault in retrospect for choosing the budget heat sink. Running an FX8320 CPU in my build for chess calculations, and it couldn't handle it under full load. Thought the problem was my thermal paste or perhaps improper air flow, but after swapping in the stock heat sink, my computer wouldn't go over 60C on full load. To contrast, I was having issues with the CPU hitting 70C+ with this heat sink.

Other Thoughts: For quad or hex cores on a gaming computer, I could see this being great. Worked fine when I played most games. Literally thought my computer was broken on start up because of how little noise this thing made. However, for sustained loads on an octo core, probably not the best choice.

4 out of 5 eggsBad shipping

Pros: It was very easy to install despite my small computer case. Fits perfectly well. Very quiet as advertised.

Cons: One of the fan blade was broken. I didn't want to waste money to ship it back and have it replaced so I just super glued it back on. It seems to be working fine now. I had some trouble wiping the pre-applied thermal paste. First time doing it so I suppose it was mostly my fault.

Other Thoughts: If it wasn't for the broken fan blade, I would rate it 5 stars. It's keeping my FX 6300 CPU at 35-40C in normal operations. I haven't tested the temperature yet during gaming. The fan is very quiet compared to the stock fan that came with the CPU. Again, it's an OK fan as far as I can tell. I may switch to another fan though because I want to OC someday.

4 out of 5 eggsdoes better than stock amd

Pros: brought temp down to low 20's c, had no problem with ram placement at all

Cons: i have a Challenger case from Rosewill, and i have the ability to mount 2 120 mm fans on top, but with this cooler, the back one hits it, had to remove the 1 upper fan otherwise d gave 5 stars

1 out of 5 eggsterrible

Pros: none

Cons: Well, the fan arrived missing one of the plastic spikes that jut out of it that are supposed to hold the fan in place, I do not know if it is because that is missing or just poor design but this fan is NOT quite, it is very noisy and the fan keeps clipping the heat sink making a horrid noise whenever the fan gets to medium speed.

Other Thoughts: Prolly should of read the reviews, just as many poor reviews as good ones I will stay away from this brand from now on.
will seek a refund, really upset because i paid for a 3 day shipping as well...

4 out of 5 eggsAMD FX-6300

Pros: I don't know why some of these reviews have said that this HSF is difficult to install, it's not, at all. IMO, it was easier to install than the stock HSF. It's super quiet, and doesn't take up too much space. Dropped my idle temps from 52c, to 14c, and load temps from 63c, to 34c. Comes in a nice box, and no assembly is needed. The only manual work needed is placement, and tightening of clamp screws after they are clamped.

Cons: The only con I can think of would be size, and that's only because I know some may have trouble with RAM interference. Also, on the Newegg product page, they failed to list this HSF as AM3+ compatible. Which is why I was hesitant to purchase, it was only after reading some reviews from users that have the same CPU that I felt comfortable to purchase. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I have an MSI-970A G43 motherboard, which is an AMD AM3+ socket. In the cons I wrote that Newegg doesn't list this as AM3+ compatible, however, the product box says the product is compatible with the following sockets: FM1, FM2, FM2+, AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, and 939. I didn't read the box specs until after installation, which is why i was surprised installation was a breeze.

For those of you that are wondering about RAM interference, I will write down the dimensions of the HSF, because I looked and looked but never found the dimensions. They are: 105(L) x 113(W) x 84(H) mm, and weighs 428g.

If you have a cpu above 95w, then I suggest you purchase a different, more powerful HSF. I use this HSF on a AMD FX-6300 hexacore overclocked at 4.0Ghz. Even at 4.0Ghz, my idle temps stay under 15c.

If you have an AM3+ socket and you are wondering if this would be compatible, don't worry- it will fit, the manufacturer's box lists AM3+ as compatible, although I don't know why Newegg doesn't. The only problem I would worry about is RAM interference. On my MSI-970A G43 motherboard, i have about 2mm left between RAM and the HSF. So use the dimensions I listed above to make sure you won't encounter any interference.

Other than all that, it's a great product. Easy installation, huge temperature drops, and fits with just enough space to remove/install RAM without complication. I would have given it 5 eggs, but Newegg failed to list it as AM3+ compatible, because it is via manufacturer box details.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for 95W TDP and lower AMD

Pros: Excellent price (especially when on sale).
Nice, quiet Arctic Cooling fan.
4-pin PWM.
Good quality thermal compound pre-applied.

Cons: Slightly large.
Need to be careful with the mounting clips.

Other Thoughts: I picked this up to cool an AM2+ Athlon 64 5000 that had been unlocked to full quad-core operation.
It fits nicely (though snugly) on the motherboard, the mounting clips tightened down with no problem. You just need to take a moment to examine the cooler to understand how it works and be sure you don't over-tighten the mounting screws.
The cooling fan is exceptionally quiet, near silent.
This HSF is definitely on the short list for low-power AMD builds.
