Pros: I will simply say that I am running an i5-4690k at 4.7ghz with 1.34v at 40C on full load. (Full load achieved in Prime95.) Ambient temperatures in the PC's space range from 21C-24C.

I am cooling this chip on air with a Hyper 212 EVO, 5 case fans, and this MX-4 Thermal Compound.

Cons: Need I say more?

Pros: Got it for $6 on sale. It's thermal compound, and it does it job well.
Easy to spread, non-curing, and keeps temps down efficiently.

Other Thoughts: Better than arctic silver 5, and that has been my long time favorite.

Pros: Good compound, and it's much safer than any metallic or capacitive compound. Doesn't dry up and glue components together. Can be a little finicky about the amount you use, so may require a little practice, and a little goes a long way. Great temps without degradation of compound and temps!

Cons: Can get on your hands easily, which can get on other things if you're not careful.

Other Thoughts: I always buy MX-4, it's non conductive and easy to apply.

Pros: NON CONDUCTIVE!!!!! Cant stress it enough. Works better than MX2. Never have to worry about spills. It is pretty thick so ball of rice and heatsink press does the spreading job nicely.


Other Thoughts: I applied this to my i5 Ivy cpu and temp increased around 3c over a year. Pretty negligible. This sucker does not dry easily unlike preinstalled TIMs that come with cpus and especially gpus.

Pros: easy to apply. non-conducting

i tested my new 4970K build with the stock cooler and grease. then i tried this grease and only reduced the temperature by two degrees C.

Cons: not much effect with stock cooler

Pros: With this thermal compound, my CPU (AMD Phenom II X4, 5 years old) stays under 70 C even when all 4 cores run at 100% for hours at a time. I don't have a strong basis for comparison with other thermal compounds but that seems pretty reasonable.

Cons: The nozzle is a little wider than I think it needs to be considering the compound's viscosity, so you need to be a little careful not to squeeze out too much.

Other Thoughts: I had to rebuild my desktop a couple weeks ago and I was in a rush to do it, at the local computer parts place I went to they only had generic thermal grease and Arctic Silver, which I haven't been impressed with. I hadn't used thermal grease in years so I figured I'd give it a shot, just to see the difference. It was horrible, greasy and upon removal of the heatsink I discovered it didn't spread very well. I have a Core i5 2500K and it was idling 40-45*C and it'd hit 80-90*C under load (97*C is shutdown temp). That was all at stock speed of 3.4ghz. I was VERY disappointed.

This MX-4 is amazing. It brought idle temp down to 30*C, a 10-15*C difference. Under load is where it really shines though, at stock speeds it hits 45-50*C under load. A difference of about 30*C! I'm even able to overclock again, and it only hits 60-65*C under load at 4.3ghz. Its as good as the OCZ Freeze I used to use, very good product and for the $5.99 with free shipping I paid it can't be beat!
