SPEC

Specifications
Thermal Conductivity (W/mk): 8.5

Viscosity (poise): 870

Density (g/cm3): 2.5

Net Weight: 4g

The ARCTIC MX-4 is a premium-grade thermal paste with exceptional performance and ease of application. It is an electrically non-conductive paste that is applied between CPU/GPU and designated coolers to transfer the dissipated heat from the components to the heat sink. Since the ARCTIC MX-4 is a metal-free compound, it eliminates the risks of causing short circuit and in turn adding more protection to your computer.

The new formula in the ARCTIC MX-4 features optimal thermal conductivity and low thermal resistance. These characteristics effectively dissipate the emitted heat from the core components.

The consistency of the ARCTIC MX-4 is designed for simple application. Its texture is just thin enough to spread onto components using fingers without creating much mess.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Easy to apply. Fantastic to work with. Will buy again (if I ever run out) for future builds.

Cons: If you paint something with it, it will never dry :(

Other Thoughts: I installed this along with a CM Hyper 212 Evo. Can't say which thing/both contributed to ~5 degree C cooler cpu temps at idle over stock cooler/paste not-OCed.

My Build:

AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo)
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0
2 x EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW+ 4GB
G.SKILL Sniper Series 32GB DDR3 1866
PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 1200W Modular Power Supply
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
Rosewill THOR V2-White Edition
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Fedora/Ubuntu Live Sessions when I feel like it ;)
2 x ASUS VE247H 23.6" LED

Future adds:
SSD
Maybe watercooling if/when I get bored and decide to OC

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but no magic.

Pros: Easy to apply, plenty in the tube, Easy to clean with alcohol.

Cons: Not much better than Radio Shack product number 276-1372 silicon base paste.

Other Thoughts: 1. Assume CoreTemp 1.0RC5 works correctly under Win7.
2. Room temperature is 26 degree C.
3. Both desktop/ laptop using stock HSF/ non-OC
4. Both previous applied with RS silicon paste.

Mini-itx case Intel G1610 no-case fan, onboard video.
Hp DV6t-6c00 Intel i5-2430m, onboard video.

Had a chance to grab a MX-4 over the weekend figure I would like to give it a try.

Desktop idle: no change, before and after.
Laptop idle: no change, before and after.

Desktop HD movie 10-min: no change, before and after.

Laptop sniper 2 10-min: Temp is 3 degree cooler during game play. Also, cool down approximately 10 seconds faster back to idle fan spin mod.

I wouldn't throw away w/ my cheapo RS grease just yet. After all, RS paste never dried after 6 years of intensive use on my last desktop system.

1 out of 5 eggsawful

Pros: none.

Cons: everything.

Other Thoughts: I applied this to my desktop thermal take frio heatsink sitting on an i7 3770k. at stock clock it idled at about 38-45c. at 70% load I almost hit 70c. and when I OC to 4.2 it idled above 50c.

I changed to use some cooler master thermal fusion 400 and my idle temps dropped to an average of 28c and as low as 25c. At full load running prime 95 on stock speed I never reached 60c. And I have yet to OC with the new compound so I cant compare OC temps yet.

This stuff isnt worth anything.
