ARCTIC MX-2 is the thermal compound offering high thermal conductivity and low thermal resistance to dissipate heat efficiently from CPU / GPU to the installed heatsink.

  • newegg Excellent Performance The ARCTIC MX-2 compound is composed of carbon micro-particles which lead to an extremely high thermal conductivity. It guarantees that heat from the CPU or GPU can be dissipated quickly and efficiently. With its performance, the ARCTIC MX-2 outperforms other well-known thermal compounds in the market.
  • newegg Safe and easy Application As the ARCTIC MX-2 does not contain any metal particles, electrical conductivity or capacitance would not be an issue. Unlike other silver and copper compounds, the ARCTIC MX-2 ensures that contact with any electrical pins would not result in any damages. Moreover the ARCTIC MX-2 is very easy to apply, even smudging with fingers, as it has ideal consistency.
  • newegg High Durability In contrast to metal and silicon thermal compound, the ARCTIC MX-2 does not show decreasing performance over time. It does not need to be re-applied and has a durability of at least eight years.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Thermal Paste

Pros: This paste works great...I always prefer a aftermarket Thermal Paste over those that come with a stock cooler. Keeps my CPU at stable temperatures at both Idle and Load status.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had a hard choice to make over Arctic Silver 5 and MX-2 and it seems I made the right choice...At least MX-2 isn't Electrically Conductive like Arctic Silver 5. At 15.99, 30 grams of thermal paste is hard to ignore compared to 3.5 grams of Arctic Silver 5 for 7.99.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Spreading Paste

Pros: Great Spreading Paste
Lots of it for a good price
Lowered temps

Cons: None to speak of

Other Thoughts: I bought this after watching people bench with this paste on their systems and bought it because of that. I am very impressed as this paste did very well and improved my temps. My FX-8350 overclocked to 4.7 on Liquid Idles at 22C on the chip and 59 under load.
This was also some of the easiest spreading paste ive used, it was so simple, anyone can do it with just a simple card.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat T.I.M.

Pros: Been using MX2 since the first day it came out , it is extremely good TIM and it is non conductive. Great results replacing old dry cracked TIM on those stock Heatsinks /Fans when repairing PCs. One of this tubes last me 2 years , i just ran out of it and bought another one , 30g. its a lot of TIM trust me , looking forward to use it on many new and repair PCs for the next 2 years.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Safe... non-electrically conductive.

Thermal performance is right up there with the best.

Never dries out. Never need to replace. Solid performance for years!

I've built many, many computers and always use MX-2.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Coat both surfaces.

5 out of 5 eggsBest TIM for the money...

Pros: I've been dying to finally try this stuff... I'm so used to using IC-Diamond TIM, that when I first squeezed out the contents of the MX-2 tube, I was real surprised to see how smooth and almost liquidy and easy it comes out. It's a light gray color so it's little hard to see your first time.

Very nice results. On a cool (AC on) summer day, my Dual Core Hyper Threading Intel Core i3 540 at stock (EK Supreme HF, GTX M184 rad), the temperatures are about 18-20c idle and 32-34c 100% load in LinX. I am not sure if that's within average, but pretty sure the TIM is working as it should as that's way less than my old i7 920... I like that my 2 cores are only 2c apart in temps, so the TIM seem to have spread itself well.

The packaging is very nice, nice white/black theme going on.

I don't think this TIM will remove the writing off the CPU heatspreader like IC Diamond, so that's a huge plus in my book. That's the main reason I switched to this.

Cons: It's not the newer MX-4/IC Diamond so your temps may likely be 1c higher! (At this price point, I don't mind...)

Maybe too much TIM for you to buy at once.

Other Thoughts: For the average enthusiast who changes out only one part or two here or there every year or so, 30 grams is going to easily last you about 5 or more years. I went through a similar amount in only 2 years (of IC Diamond) but only because I kept re-doing my CPU so many times and I re-TIM'd my GPUs several times.

Do what I did and wait for Newegg to offer a coupon on TIM through e-mail promotion to buy this for some significant savings.

I do the small drop in the middle and let the waterblock/heatsink just spread it out on its own, but everyone has their own way of applying it so do what works for you.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product, Bulk-size

Pros: Best ceramic paste I've used. Similar to Arctic Silver Ceramique in application thus my preference for this one over the MX3.

Cons: None so far for the actual product. Would be nice if we could get a normal sized tube and not only the giant one as only the huge tube is available at time of writing.
