5 out of 5 eggsGreat Paste

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: I've used several kinds of thermal paste over the years. I've replaced desktop, laptop, motherboard, and video card heat sinks and cpus.

This stuff is 2nd on my list of great thermal paste. It is only beat by Arctic Sliver 5, but it is not able to conduct electricity.

The price and amount is right on the money. I have lost track of how many heatsink / cpu swaps Ive done with this stuff, and only used about 25%.

My test for this was my old Athlon FX-60. This paste was a little hotter at idle but once the prime95 was on it was as good or even a degree better when the cpu warmed up.

On my laptop, this paste made my laptop run cooler when playing a high end game. The 45w cpu and video card are cooled by the same heatpipe heatsink. It went from 75 down to 71 degrees c.

I change out stuff often, haven't noticed this paste caking up at all.

Cons: about 2 degree hotter at the low end of the heat spectrum than arctic sliver 5. About the same after 55 degrees c.

Other Thoughts: This paste will ease any concern about frying out the chip if you happen to use to much paste.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: Huge 30g tube, enough to last for a while.

Cons: Not MX-4. Difference between MX-2 and MX-4 is subtle enough to justify getting this tube with the great price.

5 out of 5 eggs5 egg

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: easy to apply, runs cool, cheap

Cons: nothing

Other Thoughts: I use mx-2 on all my highend builds and it seems to stay cool and spread good on both water cooling and air coolers. this is a must if you want to overclock. much better then other brands I have tested

3 out of 5 eggsMinor Difference

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: It will cool your CPU about 5-10 degrees cooler. To me it is worth the 5-10 degrees on my gaming PC.

Cons: It was about twenty dollars. A little high for a thermal compound.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: I saw a 10C decrease in processor temperature by using this as opposed to normal ceramic compound, and a 3C drop under load compared to Arctic silver.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsGiant Tube of Thermal Goodness

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: There isn't a ton to say about thermal paste really. MX-2 performs very nearly as well as newer pastes (within 1-3°C, if anything).

The part that separates MX-2 is that it's much less expensive than some 'premium', newer pastes and it's easier to apply and remove. For anyone that tinkers with their equipment as much as I do, constantly removing and re-installing coolers, water blocks, etc., MX-2 is a significant time saver.

To sum up, it performs great, it's easy to remove & re-apply and it's inexpensive.

Cons: The 30g tube is a little large, but you get used to it if you don't have tiny hands.

Other Thoughts: I've been a loyal user of MX-2 for years. It has never failed me and does a great job, especially for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsCool Running

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: Great product...I have noticed a reduction in temperature on all computers that I have used this compound on. It is also easy to clean if you want to remove the CPU. Fresh clean and also after a 6 month burn in.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: While this Thermal Compound may have a 6 year warranty I recommend that you change or have your Thermal compound replaced at least once a year or as early as 6 months if you let you computer run on a continuous cycle.

5 out of 5 eggsValue

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: Best bang for your buck. It comes very close to the best thermal compounds out there for a dramatically lower cost. Spreads very easily. At this level of performance, it matters more on how you apply the thermal paste.

Cons: Package says this stuff is toxic and can kill fish. Just don't dump it down your sink.

5 out of 5 eggsMy go-to TIM

This review is from: ARCTIC MX-2 (30g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive

Pros: Non-conductive, doesn't require settle/burn-in, not as thick as other pastes. I used Arctic Silver 5 for many years and replaced it with MX-2 several years ago and it was an excellent decision; the price is low and it performs superbly.

Cons: Not the best paste on the market. For the price, it's the best you can do!

Other Thoughts: I've used this paste in dozens of builds over the years and I can't find anything better for the price.
