The Freezer i30 is an enthusiast-grade CPU cooler for the latest Intel socket 2011, as well as socket 1155 and 1156. Exclusive technologies, direct touch heatpipes, precision machining, a fan vibration absorption and a brand new mounting system offers you plenty of overclocking headroom at a minimal noise level.

  • newegg Direct Touch Heatpipe Heatsink The Freezer i30 heatsink consists of 4 double-sided direct touch heatpipes, 8mm in diameter. A unique process (20 2011 000 71.8) allows ARCTIC COOLING to pack the heatpipes without gaps and thus increase the contact surface and achieve better flatness by precision machining – both leading to an improved heat transfer.
  • newegg Efficient Heat Dissipation As a combined result of the 4 direct touch heatpipes, 48 Aluminum fins, an interchangeable 120 mm PWM Fan (ARCTIC F12 PWM), and the famous ARCTIC MX-4 thermal compound (included), the Freezer i30 offers superior cooling performance with a maximum cooling capacity of 320 Watts and lots of headroom for overclocking.
  • newegg Virtually Silent Due to the low-noise impeller of the ARCTIC F12 PWM fan and the rubber vibration absorbers, the Freezer i30 generates a negligible noise level of only 0.3 Sone even at full speed (1,350 RPM). Furthermore, as controlled by PWM signal, this fan runs only at the optimized speed based on actual needs, which in turns minimizes the noise level further.
  • newegg 4 Mounting Directions The Freezer i30 can be mounted in all 4 directions in order to satisfy different air flow preferences due to various PC case and hard ware configurations.
  • newegg Sturdy Mounting Mechanism There is no need to worry about the weight of this muscular, yet gentle cooler. The Freezer i30 applies a durable steel mounting clip and a back-plate*. As a result it has an excellent mounting stability and is fully transport-proof. (* Socket 2011: Back-plate is integrated in original Intel socket already. Socket 1155, 1156: Additional back-plate is bundled with product.)

4 out of 5 eggsManufacturer Misprint

Pros: Well made

Cons: This is a heads up, not a review. I purchased this cooler after consulting ARCTIC's website about the product's dimensions (Newegg doesn't give them). The website said that this cooler's dimensions are 90 x 100 x 130 (LxWxH). These dimensions are WRONG. The box dimensions are correct: 100 x 139 x 161. This was a problem for me because the clearance on my case (Rosewill Legacy QT01) is only 160mm.

I contacted the manufacturer and they should be updating their information, but in case you are looking at this item before they do, heads up.

Other Thoughts: I never actually installed the cooler. Luckily I caught this before I put it on my build.

Regardless, the product seemed very nicely made. As everyone else has said though, this thing is a beast. On my mobo (GA-Z97X-SLI ATX) This cooler would have blocked my first memory slot.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought this cooler to quickly replace an H100i that started malfunctioning, and even though this is no water cooler, it's still a powerful air cooler for a good price. It's also not particularly loud, but it might just be me used to working with servers and large desktops with ridiculous coolers.

Cons: The first thing you notice pulling this cooler out of the box is that it is HUGE. I had a little trouble fitting it between the RAM on my LGA 2011 board, and if I had all of the slots filled it might not have fit period.

Other Thoughts: Right now, my i30 is cooling an i7 3930k on an Asus Rampage IV Extreme, and I'm more than pleased with it. There's not much I can say about it that isn't "it works well".

5 out of 5 eggsChill out! The i30 will get your temps down!

Pros: Significant reduction in temperature from stock cooler
Noise levels are low
Build quality is impressive
Price for performance is fantastic
Installation is pretty easy

Cons: Heavy. This could stress the board
Tall enough that it may not fit in every case
Blocks RAM slot on most motherboards
No push/pull configuration option
Fan can't be easily installed on either side

Other Thoughts: Temp at idle on a 4670k is 30-31 degrees. Doesn't get very hot under load. I was able to get my i5 up to 4.3ghz on air with EASE.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pros: Great replacement for factory fan.

Cons: Cons: Fan died after 1 year.
6 year limited warranty from factory doesn't exist.
No contact from support at Arctic.

Limited Warranty:
ARCTIC grants a limited warranty to its direct customers. The granted period of warranty ARCTIC offers to its direct customers exceeds mostly the local regulations. The warranty a dealer grants to its customer is not depending on ARCTIC. ARCTIC doesn't offer a manufacturer warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsVery quiet and cool

Pros: Very quiet. I'm running an i7-4770 and the working temperature has not risen above 50C.

Cons: Very large.

Other Thoughts: If turned to blow air vertically, it covers two of memory slots. Turned horizontally, the fan will cover one memory slot. The only option to to place the fan towards the back of the case, effectively turning the rear of the case into an intake, or reversing the fan on the CPU cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet with great cooling

Pros: +quiet
+cool
+build quality

Cons: -possible ram clearance issues

Other Thoughts: this cooler works great and keeps my cpu at always comfortable temp. My only issue is that it covers my second set of dimms. So if I ever wish to upgrade to more ram I will have to replace it, but considering I already have 32GB I am not worried.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat affordable air cooling for your Intel CPU

Pros: It's incredibly affordable for the amount of cooling you get. About on par with those CPU water cooling setups that you can buy with a single 120mm radiator for twice the money.

It's pretty easy to install. Directions are straightforward and in clear English. The self-adhesive on the cooler support bracket is a nice, well thought out touch that makes installing this by yourself easy. Plus it fit perfectly in my Biostar TZ77A motherboard, snug enough that the friction alone probably would have held it in.

Multiple mounting options is nice, meaning if I ever decide to change sockets or upgrade, I can still use this cooler. Just be sure to hang on to all the small parts.

Included thermal paste, which is always nice.

Quiet as a whisper. Going from an Aerocool Shark fan ziptied on to my old CPU cooler (which sounded like a leafbloser) to this was incredible. Even at full tilt, the sound is still very quiet and unobtrusive.

It's able to mount in all four directions as well, which is nice because it allows you to choose how the airflow goes through your case.

Cons: It's freakin' HUGE. I went from a Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 (92mm) on my AMD A10 to this thing on my i5. On my particular motherboard (see above) with four RAM sticks, it won't clear when mounted that direction. So really, I could only mount it three directions, but I made do.

Really, this is my only gripe, but it's incredibly minor so I'm not going to dock it at all.

Other Thoughts: The airflow in my case goes front to back, but since I couldn't mount it like that (fan in front), I had to improvise. I took the fan out of it's bracket, and flipped it around. Mounted the cooler "backwards" and it works great with the fan sucking air in through the cooler from the back.

It's really close to the GPU, but it does clear. Maybe 1/8-1/4in. If you're worried about it, you can always put some tape on the side of the cooler or plexiglass or something to act as an insulator.

Overall an awesome cooler, I rarely break 40c under load and it looks great too.

4 out of 5 eggsArtic Cooler

Pros: This cooler is awesome to say the least. I stress test with prime 95 and get high 50's to low 60's Celsius. I used Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound as well.

Cons: There could be RAM issues if your ram is high up like mine (g skill rip-jaws). I had to take the fin off of the one closest to the cooler. Not a big deal but could definitely be a reason for someone not to buy. I only took one egg off because this cooler does an awesome job.

Other Thoughts: Overall one of the best air coolers I have seen. I'm sure you could get even lower temps with an aftermarket fan on it.

1 out of 5 eggsCame with huge dent

Pros: Keeps things cold I guess

Cons: Dented. The box the heatsink came in was perfectly fine but inside I came to see one side of the heatsink looked like it was dropped and the metal squished together and poking out. When you purchase cheap heatsinks this can happen but for $40-50 there is no excuse as to why this came dented badly like this.

Looks ugly due to dent.

Other Thoughts: Factory apparently assembles heatsinks via catapult.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite and cool

Pros: - PWM so it stay dead quite when idle, and keep cpu cool after hours of compiling. I can't hear sound even it's at full speed.
- Big but not very heavy like a full copper cooler. (Note: you must use low profile or at least RAM without big heatsink, or the cooler will block your RAM)

Cons: - Thermal compound is barely sufficient to fill. I had to use my own 7783 to fill the last part.

Other Thoughts: I don't know why so many ppl complaining about installation. Just follow the instruction and you are good to go. Come on this a universal cooler of course it cannot be just pushed down and turned to install like intel's oem cooler.
