This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer i30 Extreme CPU Cooler - Intel, 320W Ultimate Cooling Power, Direct-Touch
Pros: n/a
Cons: Sent used product, no thermal paste included. Doesn't affect quality of the fan, but I can't rate on that since I'm unable to use it until I go to the store and get the paste...

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer i30 Extreme CPU Cooler - Intel, 320W Ultimate Cooling Power, Direct-Touch
Pros: I've waited nearly a year to review this fan, to see whether it would fail. The bearings in another CPU cooler fan I owned once gave out after a few months, treating me to a horrible grinding sound as well as letting my CPU get hot.
No troubles so far with the Arctic i30. I've run my CPU under full loads for 24+ hours. My house has no air conditioning, and my office can reach 30°C on a hot day. My CPU is a Core i7-5820K. I have a scientific computing application which uses all six cores to the limit. With this cooler, CPU temperatures stay reasonable, only exceeding 60°C by a small margin on those aforementioned hot days. Whatever the CPU load, the fan remains quiet.
I did use the stock cooler that came with the CPU for a few weeks. It was much noisier, and CPU temperatures could get close to 70°C even on a mild day.
Cons: None that I can think of, though it was a hassle to install. But I've never encountered a CPU cooler that was easy to install, I think that's just the nature of CPU coolers.

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer i30 Extreme CPU Cooler - Intel, 320W Ultimate Cooling Power, Direct-Touch
Pros: -Decent Aesthetics -Very quiet -Works with 2011v3...kind of
Cons: -The fan shroud blocks first DIMM slot on the right (or left, if you do a pull config) COMPLETELY on the MSI X99S plus. Why design it this way? It's already so large that it most likely won't fit in a lot of mid-towers and there is PLENTY of room in a full-tower. I still have a little over 2" between the top of the cooler and the case.
-No installation instructions and I couldn't find any for the 2011v3 online. Typically for someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to building computers, it is still good to reference the intended instructions to make 100% sure you are doing it right. Now comes the 2011v3. It's quite a bit different. The spacers are useless and the long bolts BARELY bite into the backplate that is already on the motherboard. I Had to go to the hardware store and pick some longer ones up just to be sure. You have to be extra careful not to over-torque the bolts as they could lift the cooler off the cpu, bend the brackets or strip the bolts. I just went back and forth until the unit felt snug.
Other Thoughts: Newegg is fairly difficult to navigate on coolers, IMO. When you search by socket-type, it sets them up by what the category each cooler is designed for so you get a massive socket-type list! Wouldn't it be easier if you clicked on say '2011-v3' and BAM, all of the ones that work are there?!
As far as the design goes, this cooler isn't specifically designed for this socket at all. Although it works, it's just barely. This was a very uncomfortable snag in my build. I've already got another one ordered elsewhere.
My experience from a couple other big air coolers were that they were very close to block a DIMM slot so you couldn't have big flashy RAM. For me, I didn't care really care. This one flat-out blocks a DIMM slot completely on either side depending on a push or pull setup. I compared it to one of my older large coolers and even on the smaller socket types, it looks like it most likely will block a DIMM slot or be VERY close. Too close.
All that nasty stuff said, I ran some stress tests on a 5820k stock. Highest temp on one of the cores was 62ºC. Comparatively, I ran a 3770k OC'd quite generously on big air and it never broke 65ºC. This is a bit discouraging but I cannot jump to conclusions as this newer cpu does run a little hotter but it is much larger so heat dissipation should be better. Not for me to really judge until I put another cooler on there and see what happens.

Pros: *Super Quiet
*Super Cooling
*Super Sized(Also a con)
*Decent fan
*Easy cleaning
Cons: *So big it blocks two of my RAM slots(That's ok, don't really need them anyway)
Other Thoughts: Realistically, this monster is unnecessary but if you wanna go for a huge beast of a cooler then go right ahead and get this, it works wonders!

Pros: This thing is a tank. Its huge with lots of surface area do transfer energy from. Its also fairly easy to remove the fan for cleaning.
Cons: The thing collects dust like no other heat sink I have ever had. Its been about a year so I cracked the case open to blow out some of the dust and the thing was solid with particulate. I have also read that a number of people have issues with its height, I had no such issue in my mondo case but I could see how it would have been an issue in previous cases I have worked around.
Other Thoughts: Running overclocked wasn't an issue on my i7 untill about a month ago when the CPU would overheat and cut out due to excessive dust in the thing. Thank goodness the fan comes off easy.
This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer i30 Extreme CPU Cooler - Intel, 320W Ultimate Cooling Power, Direct-Touch
Pros: Well made
Cons: This is a heads up, not a review. I purchased this cooler after consulting ARCTIC's website about the product's dimensions (Newegg doesn't give them). The website said that this cooler's dimensions are 90 x 100 x 130 (LxWxH). These dimensions are WRONG. The box dimensions are correct: 100 x 139 x 161. This was a problem for me because the clearance on my case (Rosewill Legacy QT01) is only 160mm.
I contacted the manufacturer and they should be updating their information, but in case you are looking at this item before they do, heads up.
Other Thoughts: I never actually installed the cooler. Luckily I caught this before I put it on my build.
Regardless, the product seemed very nicely made. As everyone else has said though, this thing is a beast. On my mobo (GA-Z97X-SLI ATX) This cooler would have blocked my first memory slot.

Pros: I bought this cooler to quickly replace an H100i that started malfunctioning, and even though this is no water cooler, it's still a powerful air cooler for a good price. It's also not particularly loud, but it might just be me used to working with servers and large desktops with ridiculous coolers.
Cons: The first thing you notice pulling this cooler out of the box is that it is HUGE. I had a little trouble fitting it between the RAM on my LGA 2011 board, and if I had all of the slots filled it might not have fit period.
Other Thoughts: Right now, my i30 is cooling an i7 3930k on an Asus Rampage IV Extreme, and I'm more than pleased with it. There's not much I can say about it that isn't "it works well".
