The Alpine 11 Pro Rev.2 is the ideal cost-efficient heatsink for system builders. The multi compatible cooler is suitable for upgrade or replacement of noisy stock coolers.

  • newegg Silent Operation The buffered-mounted 92 mm PWM fan with low noise impeller silently cools down your CPU with up to 95 W. The fan creates even at full speed only 0.4 sone and hence is almost inaudibly silent.
  • newegg Easy Installation The unique mounting system via push pins offers excellent stability and is applicable within seconds. The pre-applied ARCTIC MX-2 thermal compound makes the installation a clean process. The cooler is compatible to socket 775, 1155 and 1156.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but could be better

Pros: - Nice that the top fan structure is isolated from the main heatsink by rubber mounts. This dramatically reduces vibration / noise.
- 4-pin CPU connector.
- Thermal paste is pre-appliedonto the heatsink
- Does feel flemsy but it works just fine.
- The fan blows DOWN on the CPU heatsink so the downdraft actually keeps the nearby Northbridge and Southbridge heatsinks cooler.

Cons: - Lots of overhang on the heatsink. Not much rom if you have a crowded motherboard with capacitors or RAM nearby.
- I already had another CPU heatsink/fan mounting system in place so I just used what I had. I did not use the supplied components. They really looked weak in my opinion. You need something that will really press the heatsink up against the CPU to get the best thermal transfer.

Other Thoughts: I installed this on an Asus P9D-MH motherboard running a Xeon E3-1285L V3 running at 3.1 Ghz. I ran a benchmark test at 100% CPU speeds and the CPU only got up to 76 C and the motherboard was at 53 C. Well under any critical or alarm limits. At idle the CPU stays at 37 C and the motherboard at 44 C. Not too bad.

4 out of 5 eggsGood cooler, good price

Pros: Fit my ASRock 775 board well, cools very well my stock fan was getting up to 80C the Arctic is under 50.

Cons: you need to follow the printed instructions closely

Other Thoughts: It would be smart to attach the power cable before fitting the plastic bracket to the MB as doing it after is a bit of a fiddle.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Fits in same space as intel stock cooler (mostly)
Works better than intel stock cooler
Pretty quiet even at 100% fan

Cons: Used in mini itx build, fan extends over the ram some and interferes with taller heat spreaders on ram - be wary.
Had to reseat it because the first time it didn't go all the way down or something

Other Thoughts: On mini itx build with i7 4790, under very heavy load stayed mostly between 50-55C, upper limit is probably 60C for that computer. Was hopeful it would be better, but the top-down style cooler typically doesn't perform that well.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler, EXCEPT

Pros: When it fits properly, it cools great, couple of degrees less than stock cooler.

Cons: Out of four purchased for various MB, only one actually fit correctly and worked. One of them LOOKED like it fit properly, but because it was hanging on the closest memory stick, it was unable to clamp down all of the way, so it was barely touching the CPU and temps went above 75C! Sure would like to return for refund, but at the price, it's impractical.

Other Thoughts: Be very careful what MOBO you purchase this for. If there are any caps, other parts, or memory anywhere close to the CPU socket, THIS COOLER WILL NOT FIT.

5 out of 5 eggsGood but tricky to mount

Pros: Quiet fan. Machining on the heatsink bottom allows for a selection of positions (rotation) to achieve adequate capacitor clearance.

Cons: The fan mounting screws are only partially threaded. If you tighten them too much, the unthreaded portion can strip the nuts making it difficult to remove the screws. The nuts can be popped out and replaced.

Other Thoughts: The locking tabs for the press-in pins need to have their handles parallel to the sides of the frame else they can block the heat sink and keep it from laying flat on the CPU package. When looking from above it's not obvious when this occurs. To be safe, examine the heatsink/CPU fit from the side before installing the motherboard into the case.

4 out of 5 eggsNice cooler for the price

Pros: Good heat dissipation for the size with no heat pipes. Keeps my CPU cool

Cons: Without reading the instructions, installation is impossible.

Other Thoughts: I spent the last few days with the stock heat sink because the Alpine 11 Pro R.2 "didn't fit". Wow I feel dumb.

2 out of 5 eggsFit issues

Pros: Well built heat sink. Fan mounting would provide good vibration damping, would isolate any fan vibration from CPU as well as reduce noise

Cons: Doesn't fit the 1155 socket on my mother board. The holes line up and the flat of the heat sink is over the CPU, however, when the heat sink bottoms out against the CPU, the bracket that is supposed to pin to the holes in the motherboard are about 1/4" off the surface of the mother board. If some kind of adapter is needed to take up this gap, it wasn't mentioned in the product specs.

Other Thoughts: Will be returning it since it was never installed.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Really Well!

Pros: 1) Light weight.
2) Easy push-anchor/push-pin installation.
3) Quiet fan.
4) Good quality Arctic MX-2 thermal paste pre-installed.
5) Excellent performance.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Outstanding performance at this price point. Well made heat sink and easy installation (no need to remove MB). Fan is super quiet (let the BIOS control it's speed - it has a 4-pin fan header). At lowest settings it's virually silent. At its highest speed it's still barely audible. Performance is outstanding - my dual-core Sandy Bridge-based Intel Pentium G860 3.0Ghz runs at a reported ~90F at idle and no more than 115F at load (with SpeedStep enabled). That's incredible for a 3.0Ghz processor, IMHO. Anyway, no complaints here. 2 thumbs up!

3 out of 5 eggsOk Cooler

Pros: It is not loud and it works , cools no better than stock ,price was very reasonable, read con

Cons: The instruction are not very clear as which way the bottom bracket goes, could have been a simple install ,but had to figure out which way it goes by installing by trial and error. First time did not make contact with cpu had to remove and turn other way. Did not know until I went into bios and temps sky rocketed to 90 degrees. Second time was a success and now getting 45 degrees reading.

Other Thoughts: First time installing this model , have installed many arctic cooling fans and all have been very good. Will update review in six months
