Rating: 5/5Great Cooler/ Screws can come loose with frequent travel
This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: Looks great, does what it is supposed to do. It keeps an fx-8320 O.C. to 3.8 Ghz from going over 61 degrees C.
Relatively easy to install for AMD if you have a long p1 or p2 phillips magnetic screwdriver. I suggest you add lock washers in the installation process if you frequently take your PC on the road.
Cons: Packaging is not sturdy enough to prevent minor damage during transportation. I had to bend a tiny corner of one of the fins back into place with pliers.
Other Thoughts: After extensive travel to LAN parties over months I noticed that when I pressed the power button to turn on my PC, all of the internal lights would come on -but not the keyboard. The screen stayed black no matter what Monitor/GPU/PSU/RAM I plugged in.
I finally found that the screws securing the heatsink to the processor had worked themselves loose through the constant vibrations of being on the road. Upon closer examination I saw that the heatsink was actually pulling the CPU out of its socket and had pulled it out just enough that it wasn't making connection.
After straightening two of the pins that had become bent on my CPU I reinstalled everything (this time with split lock washers) and the system has been working fine now for weeks. 5 eggs because I realize this can happen with any product that is frequently moved around in a bouncy truck on poorly maintained roads.

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: Large surface area to volume, easy mounting (or no worse than others), single fan, quiet, 8 heat pipes
Cons: Custom fan means no easy swapping, very large (fits in my micro atx case though).
Other Thoughts: When i first installed this CPU cooler the fan was hitting one of the heat exchangers fins, but some electrical tape fixed the spacing issue. I have this computer in a case that has dust filters and positive case pressure, so I cant comment on how robust the fan is to dust buildup.

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: Great cooler for a great price Lowered the temps on my fx-8350 by about 20C from stock cooler. I'm never over 40C on max load, granted I have a lot of very well thought-out airflow
Cons: The custom fan is REALLY annoying. I would've loved to be able to stick in in own fans without having to zip-tie them on.
It's surprisingly difficult to install. I had a hard time getting my fingers where I needed them, and I have small hands.
Other Thoughts: I would definitely purchase another.
Rating: 2/5Awesome cooler if you are willing to roll the dice.
This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: This cooler maintains the same temps as the Noctua NH-D14 at idle with 5C hotter at loads, which in my book is awesome for the price. And the fan is dead silent, if it don't knock. Side note, this is the only product I have had issues with from newegg, My first time ordering from here (entire PC build) and I am now a true future customer! Outstanding retailer!
Cons: After 5 days of running, the fan started to make a slight knocking noise at 950 rpm (cooling an AMD FX 8350). After a few more days, the fan would get louder. The Arctic site has no contact info except for an email, so I send an email, with no reply after a week. I then get on the site again to order three replacement fans. After entering ALL of my info, even credit card info, I'm told that they cannot accept CC orders from Illinois US. After three attempts to order, I give up and order a Noctua (much better at load) CPU cooler. Two weeks after trying to order replacement fans, I received them. Oh and I payed the extra $40 for next day shipping. no email, no notification.
Other Thoughts: As stated in other reviews, this cooler comes with a custom fan for this cooler only. Also, it seems others have received bad fans with this cooler. If you want to try your chances, you may get lucky with a good fan and have a VERY good cooler at an insanely great price. Arctic just needs some serious improvement on the fan quality of this cooler and website communication with its consumers.

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: I am impressed with this CPU cooler. The stock heat sink that was packed with my AMD FX 6300 was just borderline at best giving me idle temps of 55C and climbing to 65C with a load. Not looking to water cool and spend the big bucks I opted for the Arctic Freezer based on some good reviews on Newegg and elsewhere. I was not at all disappointed by my decision. The Arctic Freezer cut my operating temps in half my CPU tops out at about 32C under load and with a slight overclocking. Easy install on an AMD board a little tight.
Cons: None really, it is a large heat sink so you need a case that can accommodate the size.
Other Thoughts: I installed this as an upgrade from the AMD stock cooler so my Mobo was already in the case so it was a little tight. If you can install on the board before it is installed I'm sure it will make your life easier. The fan is not a stock fan so if it dies you have to get a replacement Arctic Cooler but it does have a 6 year warranty

Pros: Looks good. Price
Cons: Worse then stock cooler on my haswell. hitting almost 75 degree's running WoW By the time i pay to ship back, ill be losing money. Another 60 bucks in the garbage.

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: Easy to install, quiet, keeps my new AMD FX 3850 8core running at about 35~38c idle, 52c highest I've seen under load so far.
Cons: Instructions kind of terrible, after looking at that trying to figure out what it was trying to show you... I just winged it and had it installed in under 5 mins.

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: Good cooling, 100% silent at idle for me, barely makes a noise at load (no where near as loud as stock AMD), pretty looking.
Cons: None, but had some trouble with my case. It ended up fitting though.
Other Thoughts: The shipped product has stickers on the X's on either side, not just metal like in all of the pictures. For anyone who is wondering, it fits in a Thermaltake V3 black edition.

Pros: great cooler,allsome customer support
Cons: aparently none
Other Thoughts: just an update, so i went to arctics site, went to customer support, told them about the problem with the fan,and to my suprise within hours(well was playing bf3 so could have been sooner lol) I get an email saying in short they do have a warrenty and they stand by it, and they are sending me a new fan,so agin this is an allsome cooler, and when i get my new fan it will be even better,so in other words dont let the posibilty of this happening deturr you from buying this cooler, cause it would seem arctic is just as great as their products

This review is from: ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Twin-Tower Heatsink, 120mm PWM Fan
Pros: is a nice looking cooler, liked the fact you can remove fan to clean with out removing the whole thing
Cons: have had this thing about 2 weeks or so and allready fan has dyed, of course fan is costom made to fit this heat sink so you cant just use another fan in it, and if you could find 1 it would look pretty stupid, so its back to the stock fan which at least works
Other Thoughts: this thing looks kind of small in my thermal take leavel 10 case, of course it looked great even thogh it dosent have no kind of lights on it, not sure what im gona do being ive never had to send anything back before, also i dont have all the oringinal packaging it came in, and no time to go to mail it back
