4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is.

Pros: Small enough while not to small to offer superior to stock cooling.
Quiet.
Easy to install
Doesn't block ram slots on m-atx

Cons: No value relating to overclocking,
A little pricey for small gains

Other Thoughts: Installed in a very small ivy bridge I3 machine.
Brought temps down approx 7 c using aftermarket paste.
In a good enclosure it was inaudible.
Great option when moving away from stock cooling without an overclock.
Although it appears small it is far larger than the stock heatsink by a fair amount and considerably more quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsReasonably Quiet Shelf Stock

Pros: They work . . .
They do what is needed. . . .
Inexpensive Shelf Stock

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have a small home based computer consulting/repair shop and these fans are great for late night or week-end repairs.
Really makes my shop shine when I can pull new stock off the shelf at critical moments?

1 out of 5 eggsARCTIC ALPINE 11 REV.2

Pros: NONE.

Cons: This cpu cooler worked out real bad for me.The one i got was real annoyingly noisy. It makes an annoying "high pitched whine" noise at mid range fan speeds.

Other Thoughts: I`m out the cost on this since it costs more to mail it back than the actual purchase price.
I`m glad others have had better experiences with this cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsmodify previous review

Pros: Cools better than stock fan. Quieter than the stock fan during heavy CPU utilization.

Cons: Slowest possible PWM speed is 1500 rpm (with ASRock H77M motherboard and Core I5 3570K) so it is louder than the stock fan when the computer is at idle (inaudible).

Other Thoughts: In my first review, I assumed the fan PWM was defective. After some experimentation, it appears that PWM is operational but not practical for quiet operation. I switched to a LOGISYS IC221PWM fan that has a minimum speed 1000 rpm with my system, and it is much quieter. To be fair, my definition of quiet is "nearly inaudible in a very quiet room" (in a system with a SSD, fanless video card, efficient CPU, a gold power supply, and no case fans).

5 out of 5 eggsMI-008 and MI-100 case users

Pros: Apex MI-008 / MI-100 case PLUS the PicoPSU works great with the Arctic Alpine 11 Rev. 2 CPU Cooler. Case temps are 5c cooler, while running the cpu fan on the lowest setting aka quiet mode.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I really like the Apex MI-100/MI-008 case as a small form factor HTPC, but the stock power supply and Intel cpu fan are way too loud. Using this Arctic fan and a PicoPSU 150xt makes the case whisper quiet and 5c cooler. It was tough finding a cpu fan that would fit on a Zotac mini-itx 9300. Rejoice!

1 out of 5 eggs4 fours wires, but not variable speed

Pros: Cools better than the stock fan.

Cons: The fan has four wires, but does not run at a variable speed like the stock fan. Even at the lowest setting (1546 rpm), the drone is much louder than the stock fan at its normal idle speed. I got the fan hoping it would be quieter than the stock fan at its highest setting, but it's not. Unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: I tried plugging in the stock fan to see if the motherboard was at fault. The stock fan still operated at a variable speed (getting faster as the CPU warmed up), so I blame the Arctic cooler.

It's too expensive to ship back to NewEgg and I don't dare put the stock fan back on because I don't have extra thermal grease. The longer it drones, the more unhappy I get.

5 out of 5 eggsNice, but...

Pros: It cools well--keeping a Q8400S Core 2 Quad in mid forties in a crowded ITX build. Not very expensive, either.

Cons: Not as quiet as I had hoped. It's not bad, but not quite silent enough for a hopeful HTPC/compute machine with a fat processor. It would be nice in just about any other kind of build that's not for crazy gaming, graphics, etc. I'm not going to ding it since it was my choice that pushes it.

Other Thoughts: About as easy to install as any other pushpin 775 cooler.
