  • newegg Whisper Quiet When the fan is spinning at its full speed at 2,000 RPM, the 92mm PWM fan and low noise impeller make the entire operation to be nearly inaudible. The unique fan holder design reduces the unwanted noise by absorbing the vibration from the spinning impeller as well.
  • newegg Reliable Performance The maximum cooling capacity of Alpine 11 Rev. 2 is 95 watts. Its optimized heatsink design dissipates heat efficiently. The Alpine 11 Rev.2 outperforms the stock cooler in regards to its cooling performance and noise elimination.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything they said it was

Pros: I bought this for my general PC at home. Nothing too extreme. It works perfect for that application. Runs quiet as advertised under normal conditions. I'm not overclocking or doing any real gaming on this PC, so this heatsink and fan does the trick for me.

Cons: Can be loud when fan is going full steam. Found this out during some stress tests.

5 out of 5 eggsImprovement over Stock

Pros: Kept my CPU cooler by a few degrees than the stock intel one. Significantly less noise. It's cheap and it does it's job.

Cons: Did not fit in my mini-itx build. Using the Cooler Master Elite 130, the top of the fan won't clear the PSU mounted directly over the motherboard. Not a huge deal, I should have done my research. Swapped a stock intel fan and through it in the mini-itx, used this one in the older, bigger tower.

2 out of 5 eggsNoisy

Pros: Not much, its barely cooler than the stock fan. Probably only because it is clean and has new thermal compound. I'll bet the stock fan will be better once I clean it and reinstall it.

Cons: As stated elsewhere it has an annoying higher pitch whine. It is quieter than the stock fan, but the whine drives you nuts where the stock fan is acceptable as white noise in the background.

Other Thoughts: I'll be removing it and throwing it out.

4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is.

Pros: Small enough while not to small to offer superior to stock cooling.
Quiet.
Easy to install
Doesn't block ram slots on m-atx

Cons: No value relating to overclocking,
A little pricey for small gains

Other Thoughts: Installed in a very small ivy bridge I3 machine.
Brought temps down approx 7 c using aftermarket paste.
In a good enclosure it was inaudible.
Great option when moving away from stock cooling without an overclock.
Although it appears small it is far larger than the stock heatsink by a fair amount and considerably more quiet.

70c on heavy load . overall a really good cooler for the price I would put it on my old pc when i get a new one .

5 out of 5 eggsReasonably Quiet Shelf Stock

Pros: They work . . .
They do what is needed. . . .
Inexpensive Shelf Stock

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have a small home based computer consulting/repair shop and these fans are great for late night or week-end repairs.
Really makes my shop shine when I can pull new stock off the shelf at critical moments?

1 out of 5 eggsARCTIC ALPINE 11 REV.2

Pros: NONE.

Cons: This cpu cooler worked out real bad for me.The one i got was real annoyingly noisy. It makes an annoying "high pitched whine" noise at mid range fan speeds.

Other Thoughts: I`m out the cost on this since it costs more to mail it back than the actual purchase price.
I`m glad others have had better experiences with this cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsmodify previous review

Pros: Cools better than stock fan. Quieter than the stock fan during heavy CPU utilization.

Cons: Slowest possible PWM speed is 1500 rpm (with ASRock H77M motherboard and Core I5 3570K) so it is louder than the stock fan when the computer is at idle (inaudible).

Other Thoughts: In my first review, I assumed the fan PWM was defective. After some experimentation, it appears that PWM is operational but not practical for quiet operation. I switched to a LOGISYS IC221PWM fan that has a minimum speed 1000 rpm with my system, and it is much quieter. To be fair, my definition of quiet is "nearly inaudible in a very quiet room" (in a system with a SSD, fanless video card, efficient CPU, a gold power supply, and no case fans).
