Dedicated to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, the F PWM CO series case fans cool your computer system quietly. 4 out of 5 eggsThin wires but good fan

Pros: I've got a handful of these in various sizes in almost all of my systems - both as case intake/exhaust as well as CPU cooling in push/pull - and they're ALL running 24x7. In the almost year I've had them installed, I have never had one of them fail (yet). These fans are designed more for airflow than static pressure but they do work fine pushing/pulling air through a radiator. They excel at getting air into and out of a case with a minimum of noise.

The connectors make installing these in systems with limited fan headers pretty easy. There are some diagrams included that show how to connect multiple fans to a single motherboard fan header.

Cons: Those very same fan headers makes installing on a more modern system more complicated than it needs to be. Instead of daisy-chaining the connectors (as the included diagrams show), I simply pull the yellow wire from both connectors, snip the wires leading to the daisy-chain connector, and insert the remaining yellow wire (from the 3-pin connector) into the PWM connector. It's not elegant and will DEFINITELY void whatever warranty these things come with, but it's a lot cleaner installation for modern systems with lots of fan headers.

Did I mention the wires were thin? They're almost like hair. They don't need to move much current but they could be a concern if you move your fans around a lot or don't keep them out of the way if you need to mess around inside your case. At a minimum, use a tie wrap or zip tie to bundle them together and route them out of the way.

Other Thoughts: I MUCH prefer a BB fan over the cheaper sleeve bearings or more exotic FDBs (and their variants). They have a generally strong record for reliability and seem to wear better over time than the others. The other bearing designs have their benefits but I feel this is the best overall compromise (good, cheap, fast - pick two).

If I had to make a suggestion for improvement, I'd make the wires a little thicker for durability and possibly sleeve them out of the box. As-is, however, they're good fans for many different applications. They move a good amount of air, can be PWM controlled, and are quiet. It's exactly what I'm looking for in a good, modern fan.

4 out of 5 eggsAn update to my update

Pros: Moves quite a bit of air at low speeds. PWM. Dual ball bearing.

Cons: After a month with 2 of these mounted on my H100i blowing out the top of my case, 1 fan started to develop a slight hiss/grind sound. I found that the bearings in 1 of the fans were the culprit. Luckily I have a box full of bad fans so I replaced the bearings with those off a Delta fan. Now it's very quiet.

Other Thoughts: Knocked an egg off for the minor inconvenience. These are still the best fans I've used that don't hum from PWM control. They also move more air than most at similar RPMs. Replacing the bearings isn't something I was looking forward to doing. Oh well, you can't always get everything perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate on Performance

Pros: Works very well on radiators. Very quiet. The only sound you will hear from it is the air it's moving. No high-pitch whine when controlled via PWM like most fans I have tried.

Cons: Very thin cables. Doesn't come sleeved.

Other Thoughts: I recently replaced the fans that came with my Corsair H100i with two of these because they produced motor noise. There is no motor noise, just the sound of air. I can actually feel air going through my radiator at its minimum RPM (something that required the stock fans to be on full bore to equal).

3 out of 5 eggsThis side up?

Pros: As far as doing its actual job, it works quite well. Very good for such a cheap product. Core temps are down at least 10C.

Cons: There is no indicator of which way the fan blows. The only way I could tell is by installing it both ways and trying it out.
Furthermore, the cord is very short - it barely reaches from one side of the case to the other.

Other Thoughts: It feels like they made a quality fan, then overlooked other basics. Still a decent buy for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsMisleading Noise Specification

Pros: It moves a substantial amount of air through the case.

Cons: It is loud, about 30 dBA. The advertised Noise Level of 0.5 Sones is intentionally misleading. Although 1 Sone = 40 dBA, the relationship between Sones and decibels is not linear, and 0.5 Sones = 30 dBA. Arctic is specifying Sones instead of dBA to confuse the buyer into thinking that the fan is quiet, when it is not. Avoid buying any product that specifies the Noise Level in Sones.

Other Thoughts: I just purchased 3 Noctua NF-S12A's, and they are really quiet.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quiet when it worked and completely silent the rest of the time.

Cons: Didn't work out of the box. The wires and solder points are extremely thin and cheap. If I pushed on the wires near the motor I could get the fan to run but only if the wires were held in the right position.

Other Thoughts: This fan is too expensive for such thin wires and solder points. There are better choices if you want a quiet fan.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet fo a ball bearing fan

Pros: Moves a large amount of air with nary a sound. The fan looks cheap but has a solid feel. Fan cable has a separate plug for the RPM sensing (not shown or described) which works out perfectly for my scenario because I have it hooked up to a fan speed controller.

Cons: Extremely thin wires that if caught by a fan blade will more than likely cut. PWM chain connector is permanent.

Other Thoughts: I strongly advise sheathing the cable just to be safe. Other than that I am very satisfied with the quality of the fan and its performance (minus the cable).

5 out of 5 eggsArctic Cooling Arctic F12 PWM 120mm case fan

Pros: Neweggs price, and delivery. Decent fan, cools well, good airflow. Responds to the motherboard fan program.

Cons: Not really, but it is a funny color. Looks like white and black not well mixed together. Not really a con, but surprising when you open the box.

Other Thoughts: Installed one of these in the rear and 2 F12 regular fans in front. Temps are 27C with a Intel Q9400 on top of a Intel DX48BT2 board with 8GB of memory.
