Cool like it doesn’t exist. The Alpine 7 PRO features a unique fan holder that eliminates the typical buzzing sound of 92 mm fans and reduces the noise level to a minimum. 92mm fan and optimized heatsink work in concert to achieve maximum heat dissipation. Installation will be painless thanks to pre-applied thermal compound and Intel pushpins.

  • newegg Efficient Cooling The highly efficient thermal design as well as the optimized heatsink makes sure that your CPU, voltage converters and north bridge are well cooled.
  • newegg Minimum Noise The 92mm fan of the Alpine 7 PRO features a unique vibration absorption, which gives the cooler the best noise/performance ratio in its price class. With low noise impeller, the PWM controlled fan is extremely quiet.
  • newegg Easy Installation The pre-applied ARCTIC MX-2 thermal compound and the convenient pushpins by Intel help save time during installation.
  • newegg Compatibility The Alpine 7 PRO is compatible with Intel Socket 1155 and 1156 up to 90 Watts. The cooler is suitable for single CPU motherboards only.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible performance compared to the stock Intel CPU fan!

Pros: I picked up over 16 of these units [what can I say, free is hard to resist]! I am not a fan of push pins, so I was somewhat reluctant to even use the heat sink [I am a hard core computer builder that uses much higher end CPU coolers].

I originally picked these up because I like the fans very, very much. These 92mm fans are incredibly quiet, and produce a respectable amount of air flow [36.7 CFM].

The fan has a unique vibration absorption combined with an extremely low noise impeller producing an extremely quiet set up.

I used the fans only on the first couple of units. I modified the bracket so I could use the fan as an extremely quiet PWM controlled case fan. They get the job done and get it done well. I also used one of these fans to cool a GPU in a computer case with less than optimal airflow.

Next I modified one of these Alpine 7 PRO's to serve as a CPU cooler in an min-itx build. I cut off 3.4" off the top so the fan and heat sink would fit in a CM Elete 120 Advonced - Mini-ITX Compoter Cose.

The Intol G2020 idles at 23c, load at 37c, and the fan is inaudible, even when the BIOS kicks up the speed to maximum.

This unit is no match whatsoever for the stock Intol CPU fan. To be honest with you, I am deeply impressed with the Alpine 7 PRO's performance and extremely low noise levels. I was considering spending $40+ on a comparative Zolman CPU copper cooler for the mini-itx build, and now I am totally glad I didn't go that route.

Most people do not realize the fan is suspended on 'dualaxial' rubber shock absorbing posts and then re-suspended on Fluid Dynamic Bearings. That is why Arctic Cooling can offer a 6 year warranty...these units are built to last for many years. Not many manufacturers offer such a warranty because they know the normal sleeve bearing fans will wear out and die 1-3 years of continuous usage. Also, the rubber fan mounts reduce the chance of errant noises, and at the same time absorb or dampen some of the vibrations that are inevitably caused by minor imbalances in the impeller.

If this Alpine 7 PRO goes on sale for free again, I will not hesitate to stock up on more em'. I have yet to find a major fault with them. I find the unique vibration absorption design to be unique, effective, and incredibly quiet.

By floating the impeller alone above the aluminum component, there is no edge of the fan frame for air to flow over...and I know of no other manufacturer that has designed such a well thought out CPU cooler fan mechanism.

Last, and perhaps most important for many people, don't forget these fan are PWM controlled. You can set the speed via the BIOS to literally any level of RPM's your heart desires.

I am one satisfied buyer [or should I say "gift recipient" (remember, these Alpine 7 PRO's have been offered free by NewEgg several times).

Thank you New Egg for making this all possible!

Cons: Still trying to find a "Con" but haven't found one yet!

Other Thoughts: This Arctic Cooling Alpine 7 Pro has far surpassed my expectations in literally every way possible. I still find it hard to believe that New Egg keeps offering it free after rebate over, and over again!

One more thing to consider: The cooler stands 84mm tall. Be sure you measure your case if you are using a small form factor!

And remember, you can always modify the heat sink [I cut one 3/4" shorter] to make it work for you in a small mini-itx case.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from this one

Pros: Sorry no pros on this item.

Cons: The fan assembly that came with the cpu was better made. After getting in 3 of the pins fastened into the board the fan cage broke. I reinstalled the OE Intel fan.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this product. I made the purchase based on the mfg name and rebate.

3 out of 5 eggsOnly slightly better

Pros: Under load I noticed a 2°C drop from the stock Intel cooler. I was unable to determine if this is any less noisy as I have 3 cooling fans that make considerable noise and wash out the CPU noise.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Since the HS is double the size of the stock Intel I would have expected better. But with a quieter fan I guess it means less airflow so it evens out.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch quieter than I expected

Pros: I am really surprised by how much quieter this is than the stock Intel cooler. I did not have great expectations, considering that is was free after the rebate, but it does perform well. I didn't look at my CPU temps, but that wasn't really what I was concerned about anyway. The stock cooler for my 3750K sounded like a buzzsaw every time it spun up on POST, and this is much better.

Cons: I would normally say it wasn't free except... it was free.

4 out of 5 eggsSo much better then the stock CPU Fan

Pros: -really quite compared to the stock cpu fan
-my case is not hot or warm its cold maybe the reason why is because i didn't install my graphics card yet
-dont have to spin the fan for it to start unlike the stock intel cpu fan
really easy to install because all you need is common sense and read the instruction
-comes already with the cpu paste applied

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: its worth spending your money for this fan

4 out of 5 eggsMy revised opinion

Pros: Quiet, long power cable, easy to modify to fit LGA775 motherboards, good service from manufacturer.

Cons: Uses Intel style push pins, which can be inconvenient. 1 out of 4 samples had dents in the fins, ripples in the power cable insulation (partially melted?), and a broken push pin.

Other Thoughts: Arctic Cooling quickly replaced a broken push pin with a whole set of new ones.

While this is an LGA1155/1156 heatsink, it can easily be modified for LGA775 motherboards by filing the slots of the metal bracket for the push pins, which took me less 15 minutes with a round file.
