4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy, NOT EASY!

Pros: - Effective
- Not overly expensive (compared to liquid cooling)
- Very quiet

Cons: - HUGE
- HARD to install

Other Thoughts: Definitely a great buy. Before installing this, my 690 would be maxing between 86-89C (182-188F). It was literally giving off heat from inside the computer... not good. Installed and now running around 61-65C (160-165F). It works like a charm... if you install it correctly.
I have read many reviews on this cooler, about people destroying their cards with it. Yes that can happen, and during installation I could see why.

Here is what I did to install correctly:
1. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS... install the isolation tape all around the parts it shows you in the manual. 100% guarantee must if you are not sure about yourself.
2. Cut down the pieces of sticky foam to the exact size of the component it goes on. Do not use the precut they provide, cut those down.
3. DO NOT PUT THE FOAM ON THE COOLER ITSELF. Instead, apply it on the card and put the cooler on top of it. It is the only way to make sure that you put it in the correct place and it is not misplaced.
4. Slow and patient. Guys... you are dealing with a 1000$ video card... don't be stupid and rush through it, even if you think you are a big shot. I have A+ certification and many years of technical support experience, and I took my time with it to do it right. It is just not worth it to rush through it.

If anything, this is the post that I have followed when installing mine : http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2179183

I would highly recommend this instead of water cooling if you don't want to deal with that, but only if you are sure that you can handle installing it, or afford another card if something happens.

4 out of 5 eggscooler works

Pros: Super quiet.

3x Noctua NF-F12 PWM fans on my radiator are louder than 2x fans on this cooler (under load).

Keeps the temperature in low 70s compared to low 80s with original cooler. Idles in high 20s compare to low 30s with original cooler.

Cons: If you don't have a good airflow in your rig, you will experience higher temp. Make sure you have enough room and good airflow to get the hot air out quick.

Big cooler. Make sure you have enough space not just to fit the card but for airflow.

Heavy cooler. Comes with the support sticks which are not long enough if you have full tower cases so somewhat useless.

Not the most clear instructions and methods, hence why many people fail and damage their card.

Other Thoughts: The most important part about installing this cooler is that you have to make sure thermal pads are not touching the inductors. Otherwise, it will damage the card.

Don't use the long thermal pads for mosfet and put on the cooler like instructed, instead cut them to piece (right size) and put on the mosfet directly on the cooler, and then mount the cooler. See below link for picture with details i post.

1 out of 5 eggsDamaged my GTX690

Pros: None. Couldn't test it.

Cons: After I'v mounted it and started Windows it appears to be ok. Just started Heaven and 30 seconds after, my video was gone. After a reset, my card was damaged. I'm pretty sure I mounted perfectly. After a quick search on Google, many people had same issues. Now I will try to return it and get my card rma'ed.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply a beast!

Pros: The bottom line is that this nifty puppy lowered the temp on my gig for almost 16 degrees C at full load. That alone was fine by me! What really made me happy was that it was so quiet even with two large 120mm fans spinning away at full force that I literally took it for granted. I quickly reminded myself how lucky I was when I sat in a room with another GTX690 laboring with factory cooler. What a difference a cooler can make!

Cons: This puppy is definitely NOT for entry-level me-too DIY guys. The installation can be tedious and testing every bit of patience and skill, which comes with experience. It also requires lots of real estate to stretch its muscle. Don’t bother getting it if you’re unwilling to invest into a real spacious case. You cannot make the best use of this beast with a tiny case.

Other Thoughts: Newegg’s forum is definitely a good place to learn some valuable lessons from experienced folks who enjoyed pushing the limits before starting your own journey. That extra effort will pay off and turn into a very rewarding experience. On top of that, Arctic Cooling also provides excellent customer services as well. I needed some extra accessories, contacted them through support email listed on the Specification page, received an email reply telling me the package was on the way and got them in mail in a few days. No nonsense, no hassle.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke my 690

Pros: Nearly silent at load.

Cons: Broke my Evga GTX 690 within 15 minutes after explicitly following the installation instructions. To be honest, I did not go into this knowing that there was a significant risk of breaking the card. A quick Google search would lead you to at least a few forums with people who's 690s were killed by this cooler. I really wish that you hadn't put this item on sale, Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy this.

Pros: Ran Cold for two days.

Cons: Destroyed 2 of 690's

Other Thoughts: I've modded graphics cards before there is something wrong with this product. Do not purchase unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing.

4 out of 5 eggsWonky install, awesome performance

Pros: Super cool GPU card! dropped idle temps from 40C to 25-27C, and load temps from mid-60's to 45-50C. Install was fairly smooth, with a few hangups.

Cons: Stripped two screws mounting the cooler, had to find some 2-48 screws to replace them & re-tap aluminum block for mounting. (I don't think I was over-torquing these, but documentation leaves a lot to be desired regarding this. Factory ones were SUPER tight.)

I have a gigantic case (Raven 02), and this thing barely fits. Not really a con, just info.

Other Thoughts: This product has kind of a cheesy support mechanism with the foam blocks. My tower allows the card to be positioned vertically, but I am still concerned considering the movement this cooling device allows the PCB to undergo. I'd like to see a better mechanism created for this, and will most likely end up machining some type of support bracket to keep the card in place.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler!

Pros: Nice and huge fans but just not made for a mid-tower case. The fans are too wide to fit my Antec air boy case. Good thing is I decided to order a Corsair case and now it fits great. It also cools well and think that I should have got this along time ago.

Cons: Make it fit into your case!! This thing is much wider than the card itself. So make your you got the room width wise.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is awesome and I will be a customer for life!

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, Efficient, & Huge

Pros: Really quiet, I can barely hear the change from 40% to 95% fan speed. Ran several stress tests, GPU temperatures never got over 60° C.

Cons: Removal of old fan and heatsinks and installation of this cooler is not for the uninitiated. Note: Documentation refers to the "original" screws, meaning the ones that came with the cooler, not the ones that came with the card. Cooler is taller and longer than the card, so I needed to remove the drive cage fan and side fan duct from my HAF X case to get it to fit. Running two 690s in quad SLI would require a special, long, SLI cable.

Other Thoughts: Had been looking for a better air cooler since I first heard the stock fan under stress, and finally found the best.
I would recommend Arcticlean if you don't already have some on hand to clean off the old paste.

4 out of 5 eggsHard Work Pays Off

Pros: Extremely quiet! While it looks a funny compared to the sexy fan/heat sync built on to the GTX690 it's clearly much much higher quality on the inside.

Cons: Like I said above, it doesn't look sexy. I don't really care about this, but if you want to show off an open case you'll have some explaining to do.

This is my first time installing an aftermarket fan like this and it's more laborious and stressful process than I imagined. It took me maybe 2 hours (making some mistakes along the way).

Since I wish I could have known this before buying, here's the process:
- Remove about 20 tiny screws, many of them the star shaped ones. (My screwdriver head bent here and I had to get a new one.)
- Peel of the old fan and clean up all the old thermal grease.
- Cut up the supplied thermal pads provided into little squares and peel off one protective sides.
- Stick the pads to the new fan in all the designated spots and peel off the other protective sides.
- Connect the fan cable and carefully position the card over the fan.
- Screw in all the new screws. (I messed up here and spent 30 minutes trying to put the old screws back in.)
- Realize that you have hairline cuts all over your hands and probably should have worn gloves. Oops.

Most of difficulty I blame nVidia and myself for, but I'm taking an egg off because I wish it was more clearly noted what level of skill is needed to install it.

Other Thoughts: I learned a lot from installing this and I'm really glad I did it. If you've built a few computers and want to take one tiny step forward in your geekery, give this a try! If this is your first time building, I'd buy your geek friend dinner and get him to do the work.
