3 out of 5 eggsNew Install

Pros: Easy Install on my new ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition. Fits easily in my Cool Master Tower.

Cons: Bidirectional air out on motherboard required careful placement on motherboard so as not to cook the RAM. A broad based (360 deg) warm air discharge would be more efficient. Not that efficient.

Other Thoughts: System: Intel i7-4960, 64 G Skill RAM (2400), ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard, Cool Master tower.
I am researching water coolers now.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Design

Pros: Beefy

Cons: Tried to put this heatsink on my very expensive new server. It was too tall (dimensions not shown on NewEgg). So I had to make do without the fan. I install it per the directions and startup my new $4000 server. Two minutes later I get the overheat light and a sudden shutdown.

I took the heatsink off and found that because of it's design it was hovering just above my CPU without actually touching it. It also put a lot of stress on the socket.

If you remove the retaining clip on the bottom of the screws it can be installed so it works properly, but when you do that it's awkward to install. Once installed in this configuration it is quite effective.
