Accelero Twin Turbo III

Unmatched Cooling Performance

Accelero Twin Turbo III

The Accelero Twin Turbo III has 250 Watts of cooling capacity which is more than enough for mid to high-end graphics cards. ARCTIC´s patented backside cooler, the MX-4 thermal compound (pre-applied) and two 92mm PWM fans lower the GPU temperature significantly- ideal for overclocking.

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Backside Cooler for Highest Efficiency

Accelero Twin Turbo III

ARCTIC has developed and patented a back side cooler for unparalleled VRM and RAM cooling performance. It offers efficient cooling for RAM and voltage regulators and thus does not just allow higher clock rates but mainly increases the graphics card's service life.

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Installation Without Thermal Glue

Up to now the meticulous work of attaching different heatsinks with thermal glue was necessary. Thanks to the innovative back side plate this is a thing of the past. Without any thermal glue the graphics card can be returned to its original condition any time without leaving marks or residues.

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Virtually Silent

Its low noise impeller and patented fan holder ensures the fan is ultra quiet even under full load. Thanks to the PWM control, the fan speed adjusts according to the GPU temperature and thus the noise level remains at an absolute minimum.

5 out of 5 eggsGood cooler, Bad instructions

Pros: dropped max from 80 to 62
vram cooling
no thermal paste needed
If you have a GPU with a bending PCB, the supports from this will fix it.

Cons: Very horrible instructions
The instructions only gave me enough info to figure it out after 30 minutes.

3 out of 5 eggsShould be a 5 egger

Pros: I'm sure it would work well as advertised had is shipped with the parts correctly.

Cons: Major issue with their support. It's non-existent! Their warranty page leads to their home page, and after emailing (no phone numbers anywhere) support I haven't heard back after a week. I was very excited for this product, and have purchased many Arctic products in the past, however, unless this gets resolved quickly, I will never support such an unhelpful company again. Very bitter taste in my mouth.

Other Thoughts: The actual issue I have is that one of the 4 heatsync mounting screws wasn't machined properly and came without threading, honest mistake, and all I want is a new screw. I don't want to pay for shipping or have drive to the store, just ship me a new screw. unfortunately this is seemingly impossible.
Thanks for the headache.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat heatsink and fan.

Pros: As in the title, great heatsink and fan, I'm sure it's amazing.

Cons: Complete and utter garbage brackets, spaces, washers, screws, and over-all tightening mechanism in the design. If you can get it to set properly and actually contact your GPU thats great, enjoy quarter turning those 2mm thin screwns 2cm long waiting for them twist and snap like 2 of mine did.

Other Thoughts: I'll keep the heatsink and backplate around for a future build just so I don't lose out on the 64.99 I dropped, but I'd highly recommend NOT going for something -this- universal. It sounds great on paper but when you actually try to install it on one of the older cards it says it supports, good luck or just DON'T do it!

5 out of 5 eggsBrrrrr chilly!

Pros: ~Sleek looking
~Keeps temps low like advertised
~Quiet, very quiet.
~Easy install

Cons: Size, but knew that when I bought it.

Other Thoughts: Looks and works wonderfully! Silent but very effective! Which is a huge plus for a selling point. Nice and sturdy and the mounting bracket helps a lot. My video cards now weigh a ton! Some say the instructions are tough to interpret. They are pretty straight forward, just have to be careful. Mainly just pictures and little wording. But this VGA cooler is definitely worth the money. If you don't have the moolah for H2O cooling get these. But make sure your case and motherboard can fit these. I have a huge full size tower so no issues there. But if you are running Sli or Crossfire, make sure your MB has the ability to space your set up and be able to have a longer Sli bridge.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Alot quieter than the stock 5850 fan.
Was bought to replace the rattling that the previous fan had.

Cons: *Instructions are horrible. I didn't realize it was that bad until i was trying to do it myself. Make sure you have an exacto knife too. That was something i did not account for.

*For 5850, you dont need the plastic washers on the heatpipe side of the cooler. You grind into your card but thats the only way to have contact with the card and the heatpipes. Don't know if its a problem with my tools but it does not have full contact.

*This is actually pretty big, watch out for SLI setups.

5 out of 5 eggsSyren

Pros: VERY quiet
Comes with additional bracket so the card wont bend
4 pin and 4 pin to molex converter
(4 pin actually fit on my vid. card - gtx 660 sc)

Cons: HUGE
A bit complcated if you try to rush through it

Other Thoughts: took me about 15 minutes to remove old Shroud and install fan/heatsink half of the kit. Could not install Top Half of the heatsink because I have an SLI system and the heatsink would literally touch the fan of the top card and the bracket covers the SLI Connector. Other than the minor inconvenience the cooler works great. Dropped my temp of the second card (GTX660SC) by 20C, from 77C to 57C @ FULL load, and that's only with the bottom half. I could imagine with the whole kit installed would probably be around 30C at full load. Even my system temp dropped 5C after the new cooler was installed. I guess from the cooler ambient temp inside the case.

Pros: my gtx 760 o.c. was running at 80deg under full load and this cooler drop temp 2 about 55-60deg full load

Cons: the instruction manual on this is ridiclous...
you kinda have 2 figure it out 4 yourself.

Other Thoughts: 1 egg off 4 bad instruction

5 out of 5 eggsGTX660ti from 94C to 62C Max Overclock

Pros: I have a Zotac GTX660ti with the ugly twin fans. I wasn't interested in getting a new card since this card runs all my games maxed at 1080p. I have an overclock on it at 1333mhz and 7ghz on the vram. When playing Metro Last Light and other demanding games I was getting temps way into the mid 90's with tons of throttling. When I replaced the cooler with this one I could see why.

The cooler that came on the zotac was just held in by four screws. There was no vram cooling on it whatsoever. The cooler was tiny and thin. The fans screamed at 70% and up. This cooler has drastically dropped my temps. Just ran furmark at max overclock and barely broke 62C on the GPU. The backplate was hot, but nothing scorching. You could put your hand on it without burning. Mind you this is furmark at max overclock so worst case scenario...

Cons: Yeah agree.... Instructions suck. I thought it showed a picture of placing spacers between the gpu bracket and gpu. When I first fired up the card got a picture for a second then the picture went black. Turns out the gpu wasn't making contact as I had taken it apart and discovered the tim wasn't even on the gpu at all. The directions are just pictures and you kind of have to figure it out on your own.

Other Thoughts: All together installation was about an hour maybe. The backside cooling seems effective yet it's huge. If you have your first PCI slot right over your ram, it won't clear. You'll have to drop your card down to the next PCI slot. The bracket it comes with to hold the card is nice, and the fans are not loud at all, you can't even hear them over your case fans.

3 out of 5 eggsGood temps bad design

Pros: The temperatures have dropped from being maxed at 80C to 52C which is an amazing decrease. Much more than expected

Cons: The design..... oh man
First off, following the instructions picture for picture (no words are included) the spacers kept the heatsink from even making contact with the gpu. After removing that, I got it all back together and realized that it would not fit on my motherboard with my other gpu with the backplate. So i had to rearrange my entire case around this only to realize that the heatsink backplate is blocking the sli connector port on my video card. I had to shave down the connector to make it fit. After all this, their bracket connector is completely useless because i have the other gpu which it would not allow me to put in. In the end i got it working, but it was a nightmarish three hour reconfiguration of my case instead of a simple half hour swap out of heatsinks.

Other Thoughts: I ONLY recommend this to people with a LARGE case and using a single gpu. SLI is extremely difficult to set up and it blocks my hard drive slots in antec 300.

3 out of 5 eggsTricky to install

Pros: Backside oriented cooling solution opens a window into sandwiching your components between vram/vrm heatsinks and the backside heatsink for maximum cooling.

Cons: Very poorly thought out product overall. Bought it for a 5850 with busted fan.

1. The picture instructions take unnecessarily longer to follow than written instructions if they were provided.

2. The heatsink came with mx-4 readily applied. There is far too much mx-4 here to make for efficient cooling. There is enough for more than 3 separate applications here.

3. Once the tim is removed, the surface of the heatsink has a terrible finish with very deep circular grooves. Lapping is a must.

4. The heatsink would not contact the vpu when the 1mm plastic washers were applied.removing it works but means the metal screws are going to grind into your card.

5. There is barely enough thermal pads supplied for my 8 vram card.

6. The thermal pads are far too thick at 5mm and this results in lousy cooling efficiency. This also causes the card to warp severely when the clamps are tightened. I resolved this partially by using high quality 2mm thermal pads.

7. If you tighten the clamps fully as per the instructions, the card warps severely around the thermal pads whether using 2mm or 5mm. Furthermore, the rubber pads on the clamps slilde to either side, allowing the metal clamps to make contact with and short out components on the card.

If you clamp it upto the point where warping begins, the main vram thermal pads make good contact with the heatsink but the thermal pads on the vrms which are lower height than vram don't make contact. I resolved this by using the provided 5mm pads for these low rise components.

8. The vram at the top (and bottom if you have any) will not make full contact with the backside heatsink due to the large holes in the sink for the vpu mounting screws and washers. Several components around the vpu cannot be cooled because of this.

9. The protective film is extremely annoying and fiddly to cut to size. This would not have mattered if the rest of the card was less fiddly.

Other Thoughts: Buy it if you are willing to lap it properly and if you are willing to spend $$ on better thermal pads.

Once you get it installed, as fiddly as that is, it will make for excellent cooling especially if front side heatsinks for the vram and vrm's are applied. There is plenty of opportunity for the air from the front hsf to cool the front side heatsinks as it was with the twin turbo II/extreme III.

Be warned! If your motherboard uses full height heatsinks near the card there will not be enough room for the backside heatsink. Since my ASRock 970 Pro3 uses part low height heatsinks, I had no problems. You may end up having to plug the card into a second pci-ex slot due to this.
