Accelero Twin Turbo III

Unmatched Cooling Performance

Accelero Twin Turbo III

The Accelero Twin Turbo III has 250 Watts of cooling capacity which is more than enough for mid to high-end graphics cards. ARCTIC´s patented backside cooler, the MX-4 thermal compound (pre-applied) and two 92mm PWM fans lower the GPU temperature significantly- ideal for overclocking.

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Backside Cooler for Highest Efficiency

Accelero Twin Turbo III

ARCTIC has developed and patented a back side cooler for unparalleled VRM and RAM cooling performance. It offers efficient cooling for RAM and voltage regulators and thus does not just allow higher clock rates but mainly increases the graphics card's service life.

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Installation Without Thermal Glue

Up to now the meticulous work of attaching different heatsinks with thermal glue was necessary. Thanks to the innovative back side plate this is a thing of the past. Without any thermal glue the graphics card can be returned to its original condition any time without leaving marks or residues.

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Virtually Silent

Its low noise impeller and patented fan holder ensures the fan is ultra quiet even under full load. Thanks to the PWM control, the fan speed adjusts according to the GPU temperature and thus the noise level remains at an absolute minimum.

Accelero Twin Turbo III

Multi-Compatibility

The Accelero Twin Turbo III features a versatile, problem free mounting system that allows this cooler to be the most compatible yet.

New Fan Controller

An improved fan controller and the use of additional filters guarantee a smooth operation with both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. Through software, the temperature-fan speed curve can be adjusted. No matter whether you are a hardcore-gamer or a silent enthusiast, you get the temperature and noise level exactly where you want it to be.

4 out of 5 eggsGood results, not so easy installation

Pros: The backplate works amazingly well. The provided thermal pads are thicker than I expected, but the mounting design provides quite a bit of pressure likely squashing them down to half size. After bench-testing several games and then a 1 hour Furmark run it was very toasty to the touch!
I may need some direct exhaust airflow over that area for my motherboard's sake, it works so darn well.

The thermal pads themselves are provided as a single piece but are also pre-cut into ~.25 inch squares which is great for individual placement. You can have long strips for big hot zones and individual pieces for vagrant parts.

This. Thing. Is. Quiet.
I run aggressive fan curves, high clocks and in a hot house.
In games which put high load on the GPU it used to hit 75+C in a 35C ambient room. The stock unit fans at 65% would drown out every other in my PC combined.

With this cooler temps dropped to ~60C . The in-house ambient today was 37C because my AC broke this morning, what a perfect time for this to come in the mail. A 23 degree delta at full (game) load! Amazing. I was experimenting with the fans and settled on an ~850rpm setting at that temp. I can barely hear a thing from the GPU anymore. Furmark hit 68C sustained, in a situation where it would push the GPU beyond 80.
This is really a fantastically performing heatsink.

There is room between the board and cooler to place heatsinks on VRM/VRAM components, I suspect half inch high would fit on the VRAM and MOSFET chips though I have not done any measuring. The backplate makes this unnecessary but if you're a cooling junkie it's very welcome.

Cons: The instructions could be a bit lacking for someone who has never done a heatsink replacement/upgrade.
It's for the most part play-by-picture and, I suspect due to the universal nature, understandably (though regrettably) without much written direction. Some things are intuitive to figure out, others will make you smack your head from silliness.
For one example, the screws to put the holder in place were already assembled into the backplate clamps. I thought Arctic forgot them until I took a good look at things.

The level of tolerance is demanding. One part being a couple millimeters off center can throw the entire thing out of whack. It can make for a daunting challenge to the general non-savvy user.

The GPU holder didn't fit so well on my card. I had to remove the plastic cover of the Crossfire port and do just a little bending of the piece which screws into the case to get things right.

This is a large unit, all parts together. Smaller form motherboards or those with very large CPU coolers/unusual chipset heatsink designs may not have room for the backplate. I would not recommend this for SLI/CFX setups if space is a concern.

Other Thoughts: Proper assembly takes time and patience. It's a complicated process and you need to be exact. As noted in the instructions, you need to be very careful and absolutely ensure that all parts are lined up as best as possible.

Cards may mis-report the fan speed on settings in which the TT3's fans are spinning much slower than the card's BIOS is programmed to read. If I force the fans to spin below ~600RPM on my particular GPU, the readout will go insane (reporting in the hundred-thousands+). I wouldn't label this as a con because it's just the nature of the beast - AIB manufacturers design their coolers and BIOS around each other, replacing the cooler with something that goes well out of spec generates funny results.

And thanks for reading my long-winded review!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Performace

Pros: Very Quiet
Fantastic Heat dissipation
Fits Both my old 660's NON-ti (Evga 2662//Msi GamerOC)
Comes with bracket to prevent video card warping!!!!

Cons: Quite Huge (cannot use 2 for sli/crossfire unless you have 4 PCIE slots and put one on slot 1 and the other on slot 4)
Quiet Heavy

Other Thoughts: I bought this to cool a ridiculously hot gtx 660 SC from EVGA. My original temps was 86C for EVGA and 76 for MSI while running in SLI on 95%-100% load. The temps dropped on the EVGA from 86C to 56C which to me is ridiculous considering it only cost me around 60 bucks. As a byproduct of the better heat dissipation the MSI card dropped to 68C under full load. I have nothing but great things to say about this cooler. IT WORKS, and quite well I might add. The users that had bad experiences OBVIOUSLY cannot follow instructions nor understand how to use google or youtube to find instructions. Took me about 5 minutes to install including removal of old heatsink/fan shroud and paste from the card and applying fresh Arctic Silver.

5 out of 5 eggsChilly Willy

Pros: Cools nicely! Was over clocking my EVGA GTX 560 ti as far as it could go with max fan and temps at 80C. Now fans running at 60% and max temps hitting 66C. Also running without the backplate due to conflict with the aftermarket CPU heatsink.

Cons: Instructions maybe? I didn't really look at them, just for the pin arrangements around the GPU. Though looking at them they seemed pretty straightforward. Maybe updated instructions from other reviews? Not sure.

1 out of 5 eggsAlmost bricked a 780

Pros: -Fans seemed to work fine

I wish I had more to say about this had the thing worked as intended, but seeing how all this cooler did was give me a headache I can't say much.

Cons: -Absolutely horrible installation instructions
-Shoddy assembly materials (one of the screws managed to bend during install)
-Caused graphical anomalies/freezing/blue screens after install

After installing the cooler as instructed (GTX 780), once booting up for the first time I would reach desktop fine, but after about a second both monitors would shut off and I would hear telltale sounds that I received a blue screen error (sounds repeating incessantly). I thought it was a fluke but it continued, tried reassembling and used different fan options included but to no avail. After a while the machine wouldn't even start up. Once I reattached the stock cooler, everything worked fine.

Other Thoughts: I needed to buy a new GPU cooler since my current has a faulty fan and I needed a replacement. As most aftermarket GPU cooling solutions can be a risky purchase I weighed out a lot of options. Since this cooler seemed to look like a trustworthy solution, and I have purchased a similar one in the past, I tried it out. I was aware of the notoriously bad assembly instructions but since this model is newer and more parts are added this didn't help with deciphering the assembly instructions. After managing to put it all together, some of the parts didn't even look like they were coming into contact with the GPU core and it even seemed like they could short out some of the components on some contact points..

I understand that installing aftermarket solutions can be risky, and I'm no stranger to what possibilities lie ahead after purchasing one. After causing hours of headaches worth of troubleshooting, the scare of a possible bricked $500 GPU, and having to re-install the old cooler in the end, I will never be purchasing a product from Arctic Cooling ever again. I would rather have a broken GPU fan to manage than have a $500 paperweight as a result of lackluster engineering.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: Low Temps. Put this on one of my HD 6870s and got load temps from 90C+ to ~75C (at 100% fan speed).

Cons: It is big. The heat-sink on the top takes up 1 PCI slot, and the bottom takes up 2. Not a problem for a single card or the top card of SLI/Crossfire setup though.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks if...

Pros: High RPM combined with innovative heatsink systems make this a must have if you have the correct graphics card.

Cons: The heatsink and thermal paste have no contact with the GPU. I'm sporting a Radeon 7970 HD which I assumed this thermal take could support however if there is no contact between the heatsinks thermal paste and the GPU you might as well throw your GPU in an oven. There doesn't seem to be adaptations for a Radeon 7970 so while this card will work with earlier generations it won't on later models of 7000 series. Also the onboard power junction doesn't interface with the heatsinks current plugin. There is the IDE adapter however it's flimsy, the connectors are poorly placed and broke shortly after trying to install it.

Other Thoughts: It would be a good GPU heatsink if it fit to a 7970. From what I saw though is partly my fault because the specifications don't specify the 7970 as adaptable which is disappointing. I had assumed it would fit the chassis just fine as there is little difference between and 7870 and 7970 other than placement of RAM. I guess I was wrong.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well but clunky installation

Pros: Brought the temp down on my GTX 650Ti SC from 100c peaks to 31c MAX while playing SC2 on Ultra. I'm actually really surprised that it made that much of a difference.

Cons: VERY clunky installation. The whole back plate thing is horrible. Artic gives you this blue thermal gunk to put between the black back heatsink and the VRAM. Then on my 650 ti I couldn't install one of the clips to hold the plate on because there was nowhere to install it on the bottom rear of the card. If I put one on, it wouldn't fit into the PCI slot so I just left the back heat sink off. The cooler works great without it. Anyway, Artic really cut ALOT of corners to make this compatible with a variety of cards.

There were also a few issues with the long mounting studs that go through the Video card to mount the fan unit to the GPU. I used the correct mounting plates but one of the studs is bent slightly to get it to go through the holes in the card.

Other Thoughts: I was amazed at the whole installation affair. Artic really could have done a better job designing this cooler setup. In my opinion they should have made separate custom setups for all of the popular cards, instead of a "one-design-fits-all" approach. Very bad, horrible, and mind-boggling.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Shipping. Fan is Huge

Pros: Ordered it saturday night, it showed up today ay 12pm. So far it is 15 degrees lower than before, played some video games and temp did not rise. Noise level is low, and stays at about 29% fan speed.

Cons: Instructions are ehh. This is my first time upgrading a video cards cooler, so i knew it would take me a while. However, this was just silly. I had no clue what certain things were or did and could not find any support online. Not one video that shows someone installing this. I should have filmed it myself, but wasn't sure if I was doing it right. I had no freaking clue what the blue puddy was since it was labeled differently than it looked in the picture. Took a while but finally got it done.

Other Thoughts: Fits awkwardly on gtx 760 reference card version, but it fits. Better instructions? Have someone at Artic film an install? I think I am getting old. Good news is i can probably put it together in a quarter of the time if I get one for my other video card. Bad news is there is no way it'll fit with my current SLI install.
