Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 is a high performance CPU cooler for Intel and AMD. The heatsink features 6 heatpipes and 42 fins for efficient heat dissipation. Thanks to the vibration absorption the fan is whisper-quiet even at full load.

  • newegg Efficient Cooling Featuring a 92 mm PWM fan and 6 heatpipes, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 offers performance far beyond stock coolers and achieves 130 Watts cooling capacity. The unique heatsink design consists of 42 fins, which significantly enhances the heat dissipation performance.
  • newegg Minimum of Noise Due to the low noise impeller and the fan holder, the 92 mm fan of the Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 generates only 0.8 Sone at 2,500 rpm, which is extremely quiet for such performance. Controlled by PWM signal, the fan runs just the necessary speed at lowest noise level for maximum cooling capacity.
  • newegg Easy Installation The unique mounting system via push pins offers excellent stability and is applicable within a few seconds. The pre-applied ARCTIC MX-2 thermal compound makes the installation a quick and clean process.
  • newegg Wide Compatibility With the flexible mounting design, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 is compatible with Intel Socket 1366, 1156, 1155 and 775 as well as AMD Socket AM3, AM2+, AM2, 939 and 754.

1 out of 5 eggsWill not work properly on AMD processor.

Pros: None. It will not install properly on an AM3+ processor.

Cons: This cooler was designed to be installed on an Intel processor. I installed it on an AMD FX 8320 processor using the provided brackets, and, when I attempted to boot the system, the processor very quickly heated up to 72 degrees plus and the system shut down. I removed the cooler, installed new paste (Arctic MX2) with the same results. I removed the cooler, which looks similar to the Arctic 64 that I have used on other builds but has the crummy bracket. (Incidentally, the bracket interfered with one DIMM, so I trimmed the cage a bit and cracked it in the process. That's why I didn't RMA the thing. It's j**k. It was j**k to start with, so now it's shelf art.)

Next, I cleaned up the processor and the cooler and installed the stock cooler from AMD, which has a proper bracket. Everything has been running nice and quiet and cool ever since.

The reasons I bought this cooler were because reviewers here had assured me that the stock cooler was too noisy and because my Arctic 64 has worked well for years in another build.

It's not too noisy. Save your money and use the stock AMD cooler.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro works very well. With adjustable fans speeds through MoBo I can run on minimum until the heat get high but still it keeps the APU at a steady 40C.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: may pick up another one for my other tower.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I used this heatsink for 4.5 years on my old motherboard and had no problems. Quiet and cool.

Cons: It's big and blocked one of the (unused) RAM slots.

Installation was a little awkward when getting the screws in on the sides.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy, breezy, literally.

Pros: Some reviews said this heatsink was hard to install? It was a very easy install for me on my AM3 CPU. I love how I did not have to push down on any retention during installation, instead tension was applied through the spin of a screwdriver (phillips). The fan itself is very quiet while gaming. The fan in my graphics card is now the loudest thing in my case.

Cons: There are no cons. This was 5 stars, easy install, quiet, good performance.

4 out of 5 eggsPoor choice for mATX AMD builds

Pros: + Very inexpensive
+ Compact enough to fit in most cases, even mATX towers or HTPC enclosures
+ Excellent choice for Intel systems
+ Extremely easy to use mount design

Cons: - Only allows installation in one direction on AMD systems because the mount is permanently affixed to the cooler. You can choose to orient it so the fan blows up and down, but not front to back as is the most common direction for tower cooler such as this.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this cooler to work in conjunction with an FX 6300 upgrade I performed on my sons GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P Item#: N82E16813128504. This is a mATX motherboard so the RAM slots have precious little room to the CPU socket. His system has fairly low profile RAM (Crucial Ballistix Tracer). Due to the vertical orientation of this cooler, the fan shroud interferes with the closest RAM stick and therefore could not be installed. This should not be an issue on Intel systems because you can simply rotate the heatsink 90 degrees. I deducted one egg due to this coolers inability to be installed in any direction on AMD systems.

I'd strongly suggest NOT using this cooler on an AMD mATX motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap And Works

Pros: - It's surprisingly quiet for the size.
- Has Flexible mounting direction based on your case configuration.
- Keeps the CPU temp down wonderfully.
- Clear instructions for a Intel or AMD install.
- Excellent price.

Cons: My fan recently (2 weeks ago from writing this review) died so I had order a replacement fan.

Other Thoughts: You can order replacement parts directly from Arctic but beware they ship from Hong Kong so shipping may cost a lot.

I ordered two fans and with shipping came to the same amount a new fan and heatseek would cost. The fans took almost 3 weeks to deliver.

5 out of 5 eggsWish I got it when it was on sale

Pros: Surprisingly quiet for the size.
Flexible mounting direction based on your case configuration. ( I have it venting out the top of my case)
Keeps the CPU temp down wonderfully.
Clear instructions for a Intel or AMD install.
Excellent price.

Cons: None (other than I missed the sale by a week and a bit)

Other Thoughts: My CPU had been in the high 90s due to inadequate connection to old heat sink (Thermal paste had dried up) Decided to go with this model due to low price and good name (I've used this brand in the past and been happy). Temp does not exceed 52 at extended 100% load in testing. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
