Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 is a high performance CPU cooler for Intel and AMD. The heatsink features 6 heatpipes and 42 fins for efficient heat dissipation. Thanks to the vibration absorption the fan is whisper-quiet even at full load.

  • newegg Efficient Cooling Featuring a 92 mm PWM fan and 6 heatpipes, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 offers performance far beyond stock coolers and achieves 130 Watts cooling capacity. The unique heatsink design consists of 42 fins, which significantly enhances the heat dissipation performance.
  • newegg Minimum of Noise Due to the low noise impeller and the fan holder, the 92 mm fan of the Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 generates only 0.8 Sone at 2,500 rpm, which is extremely quiet for such performance. Controlled by PWM signal, the fan runs just the necessary speed at lowest noise level for maximum cooling capacity.
  • newegg Easy Installation The unique mounting system via push pins offers excellent stability and is applicable within a few seconds. The pre-applied ARCTIC MX-2 thermal compound makes the installation a quick and clean process.
  • newegg Wide Compatibility With the flexible mounting design, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 is compatible with Intel Socket 1366, 1156, 1155 and 775 as well as AMD Socket AM3, AM2+, AM2, 939 and 754.

5 out of 5 eggsArctic Freezer Pro 2 Cooler.

Pros: Installation was very easy with no problems. I installed into 2 computers and both went well. They cool a Intel I5 well under normal conditions, I have not tried to OC.

Cons: The fan is very close and sometimes over the memory slots so you will need to use low profile memory.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsOld Reliable

Pros: Great cooling for general use computing:
1) Nice price
2) Pre-applied thermal paste
3) Quiet (for air cooling)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Have installed four of these over the years with no issues. Though the fan on one that was about 1 year old was developing a tick and a replacement fan was promptly shipped.

1 out of 5 eggsDON'T USE WITH AMD

Pros: low price, good thermal paste

Cons: Cheaply made, just about impossible to put on AMD card the "prongs" have super small screw holes located at the most awkward angle possible.

1 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Didn't need to remove motherboard to install backplate

Cons: fan contained in shoddy plastic frame, fan doesnt spin

Other Thoughts: It was relatively easy to install. I was replacing a stock fan that couldn't keep up anymore, and not having to tear the entire box apart to install a backplate was a major selling point.

Initial install went fine, except for one thing - the fan did not spin much. When booted, the fan would spin for about 10 seconds, then the BIOS would pop up a CPU Fan Error, and the fan would stop spinning.

Upon removing the fan from the heatsink and trying to put it back on, the plastic frame the clips are attached to broke. Now, obviously, I applied too much force, however, when the force necessary to get the fan to actually clip onto the heatsink is too much... there's some shoddy workmanship involved.

I'm not even going to deal with the hassle of an RMA or a refund. I've ordered a Zalman CNPS9700 LED as a replacement. Hopefully it works out better. I will say I'm disappointed enough that I will likely never try another ARCTIC product again

5 out of 5 eggsGreat entry-level cooler. Going strong after 5 years!

Pros: Quiet! I can barely hear that it's on, even at full CPU load. Can't hear it at all if the graphics card's fans (also Arctic) are above 50%. This cooler has been on my LGA 775 E7600 for over 5 years, and it's still a champ. Idle temps average about 7 degrees cooler than noisy stock cooler (which I only kept on about 3 weeks), and about 20 less on load. Note the CPU is not overclocked.

The Zalman CNPS9900A cooler I have on my newer build's i7 3770K is louder, and I really only hear it when the fan occasionally vibrates.

Cons: Install instructions are mostly pictures, and, being my first after-market cooler, I installed it with the fan backwards the first time (blowing onto the RAM, instead of out of the case). But it still kept the CPU plenty cool, although temps dropped a few degrees when I turned it the right-way round.

Other Thoughts: With all after-market coolers, you have to make certain it:
A) Fits in your case and motherboard layout, with your other components. Arctic's website has height restriction drawings of their products, so you just have to measure!
B) Is rated/intended for the chip you want to put it on.
I've seen several negative reviews for this cooler where the author clearly didn't bother to check one or both of these things before purchasing.

I liked this cooler so much, I then got a GPU cooler from Arctic as well (Accelero II Twin Turbo on a HIS HD6870), put another Freezer 7 Pro on my sister's i3 when I built her a new computer in 2012, and recently got an Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV 280(X) for my new overclocked R9 280x from Sapphire, as well as putting Arctic coolers on my Dad's CPU and GPU in his HTPC-turned-backup-server. All of these coolers still work well, and are very quiet, especially when compared to stock coolers. You probably can get more efficient coolers for more the money, but they'll be louder. Not worth spending the extra if you're not overclocking.

4 out of 5 eggsNever again

Pros: Cools the intel 8400 better than stock intel cooler.
Has 4 pin fan connector.
Worked well for years.

Cons: I would not recommend ANY heatsink that uses push pin mounting.
This heatsink worked well for years until it was removed and re installed. The push pins cannot keep heatsink tight against the cpu.

Other Thoughts: The heatsink paste that drys and hardens is what kept the cpu tight to the heatsink over the years.
I was trying to avoid pulling the motherboard to mount the heatsink.
Lazyness......
