The ultimate in airflow to noise ratio, iXtrema Pro Quiet Fans are the only fans in the industry to be designed with silence and optimal airflow in mind. A smaller, domed motor hub with a larger, more dramatic fan blade sweep area, no other fans on the market come even close in performance! There might be fans that offer more airflow or lower noise levels, but when it comes to a balance between the two, these fans can't be beat.

  • newegg Forward Sweep Fan Blades The exotic fan blade design has nearly twice the surface area per fin than most conventional fans, allowing far more air to be pushed per revolution than fans without the unique forward sweep blade design.
  • newegg Smaller Domed Motor Shape iXtrema Pro Quiet Fans feature a motor size smaller than other fans, maximizing the lateral area to facilitate airflow movement. Not only is this dead space reduced, a domed top allows for better aerodynamics and therefore, reduced air turbulence.
  • newegg Hybrid Motor Bearing System Ball bearings are prone to vibration causing too much noise. Sleeve bearings have a short lifespan. With the use of harder materials for the bearings and larger lubricant capacity, longer life and minimal vibration can be achieved.
  • newegg Silicone Vibration Dampeners Use the included silicone vibration dampening mounts to minimize vibration even further. By utilizing the mounts, vibration from the fan will not be transmitted to the casing, thereby preventing unwanted “rattling” noise from the case.

5 out of 5 eggsTwo months Later

Pros: Works like a champ. Nice and quiet even after two months non stop.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a failing 60mm on an old P5N-D mb. It doesn't quite fit perfectly in the special plastic mount for that board but it fits snugly enough to stay in it.

5 out of 5 eggsWow really

Pros: I was skeptical about the price but it was the quietest fan Newegg had for sale. for $16 you would expect quality. I normally never get on here to write reviews but felt compelled to after installing this fan in my Security DVR. The current BB fan was loud and moved a lot of air. Enough to the point i wanted to relocate the DVR to another room. Well put this fan in and it is so quite i can hear nothing but the HDD. Shame 1TB SSD's cost so much or else i would have a silent room again.

Cons: This is not really a con but the fan is so quiet i would have to check from time to time to make sure it is still working. It does not push a lot of air but enough so you can feel it if you put your hand behind it.

Other Thoughts: The rubber mounts it came with were good but not the best design in my opinion. The slip through the first mount but do not reach the second and i wonder how long before it slips out. Time will tell.

2 out of 5 eggsBegan to fail after 2.5 years

Pros: Very quiet.

Cons: Very low airflow, questionable durability

Other Thoughts: Installed this fan in a small server, running 24/7, in early 2009. This summer (2.5 years later) it began to make noise - it was still running, but the noise indicated that the 'fluid dynamic bearing' was failing.

Replaced the fan with a more standard unit.

Overall, a bit disappointing with the tiny airflow and relatively short life.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat if you know what to expect

Pros: Quiet
Includes rubber mounts
Heavier plastic
Metallic look

Cons: Doesn't move a ton of air

Other Thoughts: Very quiet, but doesn't move a ton of air. Two of them are enough though to keep my HTPC case cool. They are the only exhaust except for the antec Green PSU with a slow 80mm fan.

Sempron 140
2 GB DDR3 8500
ATI HD 4250 on-board
ATI 450 tuner
80 GB SATA HDD

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet just like it says

Pros: If you want a low to medium cfm fan that is very quiet this is about as good as it gets.

Cons: Didn't work out of the box. I looked at it for a few minutes and something just didn't seem quite right. The cone of the fan wasn't snapped all the way into position. I just squeezed it until it popped and it hasn't given me a seconds worth of trouble since.

Other Thoughts: I've been using SilenX fans for years in all kinds of stuff. I had one of the little 40mm fans in a micro PC PSU. I don't know how it lasted so long with the heat that generated, but it probably still works 10 years later if I turned it on. Seeing as this if for an Axe-FX Ultra it should last for years.

3 out of 5 eggsExtremely quiet, but minimal airflow

Pros: Very, very quiet. Pretty much silent unless you stick your ear right up to it in a very quiet room.

Cons: Minimal airflow. It is spinning but barely makes a strip of tissue paper move. The airflow isn't detectable on your skin.

Other Thoughts: Replaced the stock drive in an MSI Atom 'barebones' desktop that I use as a server. The whole thing has been running 24/7 for over a year now with two 1TB WD Green drivers, but the fan is not doing much for cooling.. It just doesn't move enough air. I think the fact that the CPUs and drives are low power types means that i've gotten away with it, but I almost wonder if no fan and just convection would be the same. But hey, it's silent and the system hasn't had an issue, so I'll give it 3 stars.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Silent in the first year.

Cons: Fans started to get loud after 1 year of service. I called the company and they agreed to ship me a replacement right away.

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps my Gear Cool and Happy!

Pros: I am using this on my Axe-FX Ultra. (Guitar Effects Processor)
There is very little ventilation on the box and this fan keeps it cool and silent. I big plus when you use it to record!

Cons: It should have various screws and washer to go with it. As it is I had to go to home depot and buy:
6/32 - 1.25" screws - Home Depot
#60 "O" rings - Home Depot

Other Thoughts: After 16 months of vigorous use this thing still hold true!
I will be buying more for my PC rigs!!!
