Rosewill continues its commitment to being "the best choice in value" by producing CPU cooling products with high end performance without the high-end price. Part of Rosewill's "Z" series designed specifically for Intel processors, the RCX-Z300 performs comparable to higher-priced units but at a fraction of the price.

The 92mm red fan spins at speeds up to 2200 RPM allowing it to move nearly 42 CFM of cooling air. At top speed, it generates a noise level of just over 24 dBA. Its integrated PWM functionality offers great flexibility by allowing the system BIOS to monitor the fan's speed and performance. During periods of low thermal need, the computer will lower the fan's speed – and its noise level.

The heatsink portion of the RCX-Z300 consists of aluminum extrusion fins surrounding a copper base and core. These convection fins have a branching, "crotched" profile which practically doubles the amount of surface area available to diffuse the surplus heat. The RCX-Z300 will support Intel Socket LGA 775 processors including the Core 2 Extreme, -Quad, -Duo and Pentium D, -4 and Celeron D CPUs.

  • newegg Excellent Cooling Performance The Rosewill RCX-Z300 features a pure copper base and high-density aluminum fins, plus a powerful 92mm cooling fan to deliver superior cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price.

Pros: Very good for the price.
same base profile as OEM, just taller and copper core.
Installed easily in socket 1150.
The mounting brackets were better then Intel stock

Cons: Loud
5-10C hotter then Cooler Master Geminii M4 w/ Intel I3 4370.
I5 OEM heat sink had similar performance but was quieter.

Other Thoughts: I wear headphones most of the time, so noise is not usually a concern for me, but it is still noticeable. I can hear this fan when I walk past my office. I am using an Intel I3 4370, and it mounts just fine to the 1150 socket, but for my build it is not quite or cool enough, I did like the profile, and maybe in a quieter case it would be nice. It is a cheap replacement for an OEM heat sink, but I need something different.

5 out of 5 eggsCPU Fan for CHEAP!!

Pros: for 10.00+ free shipping its awesome. I was cleaning the case of an old c2quad and broke off one of the secure pins from the original fan. It produces the same temps as the old intel lump of metal.

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: If i was going to cool a 1150 or better i'd pick a better fan for a little more.

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't really do anything.

Pros: *It works
*It looks nice
*Pre-Applied thermal paste

Cons: *The push pins are super hard to actually get pushed in
*It didn't lower temperatures at all compared to the stock Intel cooler

Other Thoughts: It didn't lower temperatures at all. I wasn't expecting my CPU to be at 20 degrees or anything, but it might of actually raised temperatures.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for price

Pros: The cooler does work better than stock. My build optimized with a 10% overclock using this cooler and ultra quiet setting for BIOS. The fan is quiet and CPU runs cool under moderate load.

Cons: Be sure to check the mounts. Mine were bent. I had to remove the plastic mounting posts and bent the tangs straight. It works but sometimes cheap is cheap.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fairly quiet, ball bearing fan, copper core, looks nice if going for a black/red color scheme, cools very well for it's size, low profile.

Cons: None so far, works well if you know what to expect.

Other Thoughts: I am very pleased with this cooler, I had originally purchased it to cool a Pentium Dual-Core E6300, but it is currently cooling a Core 2 Quad Q9650 and temps don't go over 60c.

I did use Arctic Silver thermal compound on the latter of the two CPUs.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing for Dual Core / HTPC

Pros: - Low price that cannot be beaten by coolers of similar quality
- COMPLETELY and utterly silent when run on minimum speed, which is more than sufficient for a dual core / well ventilated system
- Not difficult to install (all pins come in push configuration, all you have to do is apply enough pressure to get all to lock into place)
- Pulls a decent amount of air for the silence level

Cons: Make sure that it is seated correctly and that all 4 pins are properly pressed with enough pressure to lock. I had to re-seat once but after that I had no problems whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to cool an overclocked Pentium G3258 for a HTPC. Mildly overclocked to 3.8 gHz, this fan keeps the CPU under 70 for the majority of prime95. The fan only spins up when getting to the 75+ range, so I was able to have an overclocked processor and STILL have the fan run in silent mode. Plus, I got this for 10 dollars, which for the quality is just an absolute bargain. I highly recommend this cooler for anyone needing a cheap, low profile cooler that is much better than stock.

4 out of 5 eggsNot for old Core 2 Duos

Pros: Inexpensive. Very quiet, even at top speed. Probably fine on modern equipment

Cons: I'm tinkering with an old E6700 system that my work was going to throw away. I bought this for its LGA 775 compatibility, but it wasn't able to adequately cool the processor. I think the circle contact point is too small. Also, the old motherboard, a Biostar TP35D3-A7 Deluxe, was unable to get it to run above minimum speed, outside of the smart fan calibration. I was also able to use SpeedFan to manually speed it up, so the fan wasn't broken, and the fault may well be 100% the old motherboard. But I also wonder if this fan in particular is incompatible with such old hardware. I'm giving this 4 eggs, its average score, because most people will be buying it for much newer hardware, and the bulk of other reviews indicate it works fine for that. But if for whatever reason you are trying to outfit an LGA 775 system from 2008, I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: I have another fan on order with a square contact point, and if I experience all the same problems, I'll amend this review to remove the criticism. It's very possible the motherboard is entirely to blame.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: -Quiet (When not at full speed)
-Rosewill quality

I really am amazed at this thing!

Cons: Can be a bit loud at full speed... I have it cooling my i5 3570k, and only when I'm playing BF4 on highest settings does it go to full speed, and it can get a tad bit noisy, but definitely quieter than stock.

Other Thoughts: I really do like this cooler - Probably will buy in the future.
