Rosewill continues its commitment to being "the best choice in value" by producing CPU cooling products with high end performance without the high-end price. Part of Rosewill's "Z" series designed specifically for Intel processors, the RCX-Z300 performs comparable to higher-priced units but at a fraction of the price.

The 92mm red fan spins at speeds up to 2200 RPM allowing it to move nearly 42 CFM of cooling air. At top speed, it generates a noise level of just over 24 dBA. Its integrated PWM functionality offers great flexibility by allowing the system BIOS to monitor the fan's speed and performance. During periods of low thermal need, the computer will lower the fan's speed – and its noise level.

The heatsink portion of the RCX-Z300 consists of aluminum extrusion fins surrounding a copper base and core. These convection fins have a branching, "crotched" profile which practically doubles the amount of surface area available to diffuse the surplus heat. The RCX-Z300 will support Intel Socket LGA 775 processors including the Core 2 Extreme, -Quad, -Duo and Pentium D, -4 and Celeron D CPUs.

  • newegg Excellent Cooling Performance The Rosewill RCX-Z300 features a pure copper base and high-density aluminum fins, plus a powerful 92mm cooling fan to deliver superior cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a great value!

Pros: This Rosewill cooler lowered idle and load CPU temperatures by over 10 and 15 degrees, respectively. For only $15, what else can I ask for?

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely buy this product again. Despite the push-pin design, it was easy to install the cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product

Pros: Awesome looking red and black fan. Copper core. Very quiet. Easy to install. Compact… does not require a lot of extra space around the CPU socket to mount. Works with a variety of processor sockets.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: This is the best CPU cooler I have ever purchased for under $20, and actually performs better than just about any fan-based cooler I have ever used, regardless of price. The only time I can even hear it running is when I am really taxing my system hard. Even when it does rev up, it is quieter than most fan type CPU coolers I have used. It was painlessly simple to install and has worked perfectly since the moment I started using it.

The one thing I don’t understand after reading some reviews for this product, and other push-pin mounted CPU coolers, is why some people have so much trouble figuring out how to mount them. I have been building and servicing computers for many years now, and have installed/uninstalled these push-pin type coolers countless times. So far, I have never had a problem with breaking them or not getting them to stay put. There is no “twisting” or “turning” (as some people have stated) of the push-pins required for mounting. The pins simply have to be in the up (unlocked) position and rotated fully clock-wise (opposite direction of the arrow) before mounting. Then you simply align and insert the tips of the pins in the mounting holes on your motherboard and gently push them down until they click. The only time you should ever have to turn or twist the push-pins is when you dismount the cooler.

I hope this helps.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the trouble

Pros: Fits most applications. Easy installation.

Cons: This thing is LOUD. I bought it to replace the stock heat sink on my Intel 4160 CPU. MY case is within a few feet of my ears and would occasionally hear the Intel stock fan kick on; in an otherwise quiet system this had to go. Due to the socket location on my ECS motherboard I was limited in my choices to keep it out of the way of the ram and graphics card. When I found this rosewill unit I thought it would be the perfect quiet solution. It was easy enough to install but even at idle there is an audible hum coming from the fan. Granted I was not expecting it to be noise free but even after setting the fan curve there is always much more sound than the stock Intel heatsink. Don't waste any money on this, no matter how cheap of a solution it seems.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't secure to Asus P8 H61-MLE

Pros: None.

Cons: Cheap plastic pins do not secure to an Asus P8 H61-MLE, rendering the heat sink completely worthless for its advertised purpose.

Other Thoughts: Skip it. It's useless.

4 out of 5 eggsIt does the trick, but be careful...

Pros: - Kept Pentium G3258 under 50C when playing games like Arma 3, BF4, and Dota 2.

Cons: - One of the pins that keeps the heatsink held tight broke when I took it off to upgrade my CPU.
- I have to use stock Intel cooler now.

Other Thoughts: At least I have a another case fan now.

1 out of 5 eggsLooks Great But....

Pros: Well constructed (except for plastic mounting post inserts). Fairly quiet except when fans ramp up to max.

Cons: Retainers do not snug cooler to processor well so carefully monitor CPU temps after installing..

Other Thoughts: Installed this on an ASRock Pro4 mATX 1150 board using an Intel i3-4150 processor. Even after ensuring posts were rotated opposite the arrow (just like the intel cooler) and pressing till seated, the cooler never seemed to fasten snug to the processor. Upon startup on day 2 of use the temperatures steadily climbed into the mid 90 C range at which time I shut the machine down. During inspection of the cooler I noted it was barely making contact with the processor and could easily be moved. Posts were still seated but apparently the motherboard is too thin for the plastic rings on post to seat and pull cooler snug to processor. That said, the cooler does look more than up to the challenge of cooling but like some other negative reviews, it can't always secure to board properly. If someone had a little time I am sure they could fasten it securely using some screws, washers and nuts but really, it should work properly out of the box. Needless to say I could not use this cooler so I swopped it with a factory i7-4790K cooler, left over from another build, which has a copper core - unlike the i3 cooler that came with i3 processor which is all aluminum. Now working temps around 41 C, motherboard at 33 C when room at 75 F.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Impressed

Pros: None, really.

Cons: LOUD. Vibrates something fierce.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace an aging heat sink/fan on an old LGA 775 Pentium 4. I replaced it because the cooler I originally installed was beyond the point of cleaning and it had also been in use for the better part of 8 years and got pretty loud. So I got this in the hopes of minimizing the noise a bit without breaking my wallet for an ancient non-mission critical CPU that is still somewhat in use, believe it or not. Once again, I've proven to myself that when it comes to PC tech/hardware, you get what you pay for...
