Rosewill continues its commitment to being "the best choice in value" by producing CPU cooling products with high end performance without the high-end price. Part of Rosewill's "Z" series designed specifically for Intel processors, the RCX-Z300 performs comparable to higher-priced units but at a fraction of the price.

The 92mm red fan spins at speeds up to 2200 RPM allowing it to move nearly 42 CFM of cooling air. At top speed, it generates a noise level of just over 24 dBA. Its integrated PWM functionality offers great flexibility by allowing the system BIOS to monitor the fan's speed and performance. During periods of low thermal need, the computer will lower the fan's speed – and its noise level.

The heatsink portion of the RCX-Z300 consists of aluminum extrusion fins surrounding a copper base and core. These convection fins have a branching, "crotched" profile which practically doubles the amount of surface area available to diffuse the surplus heat. The RCX-Z300 will support Intel Socket LGA 775 processors including the Core 2 Extreme, -Quad, -Duo and Pentium D, -4 and Celeron D CPUs.

  • newegg Excellent Cooling Performance The Rosewill RCX-Z300 features a pure copper base and high-density aluminum fins, plus a powerful 92mm cooling fan to deliver superior cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.

5 out of 5 eggsCPU runs 15 degrees cooler

Pros: Thermal paste already applied. Easy to install. Lowered Temps by 15 degrees compared to stock fan. Happy with it.

Cons: Was loud when I first installed it. Figured it had something to do with overclocking and my old fan. Had to change some settings around in the bios.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet and Affordable PWM

Pros: Affordable, PWM, Low Profile, Easy install.
Super quiet ~700 rpm at low load/idle. Cools well at high load at ~2400 rpm.

Cons: Can be loud at full tilt, but that should be expected with it spinning at ~2400rpm. So not really a con, just a fact. Keep in mind, if you don't have/turn on automatic fan control it will spin constantly at full speed. Pretty much all coolers will do the same.

Other Thoughts: I've been in the process of changing one of my old systems into an htpc/nas box. I got this to replace a massive 3 pin Zalman cooler that was unbearably loud ( I couldn't find the manual fan controller for it.)
I adjusted the settings in the bios for automatic fan control and this thing is super quiet at idle and while watching movies, which is when a silent fan really counts. Temps while watching movies using the cpu/software decoding (gpu decoding turned off to save power/noise) are ~50C which is fine by me.
I haven't done much gaming on the system yet, but I did some cpu burning and the temps were steady at ~75C after about 15 min.
All in all for $15 I'm very happy with this.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: It fit my socket 775 motherboard and it has thermal paste already applied.

Cons: It didn't cool my CPU adequately. Bios showed the CPU at 75 degrees celsius under a light to moderate load. I installed the stock Intel cooler, and it does not get above 65 degrees celsius now.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 2 stars because it wasn't doa.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Heat Sink for the money

Pros: Great product for the money. Pretty much the same as the Intel OEM I had just made better. Easy and quick install.

Cons: For the price nothing, has what you need at the price range.

Other Thoughts: There are better ones out there, but at higher prices. I am using it for a Tower I am using for FreeNas NAS machine.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well.

Pros: Price. Thermal paste included.

Cons: Somewhat difficult to install.

Other Thoughts: Installation was a little tough on an AsRock Z77 Extreme3 motherboard with an i5-3350P processor, but I eventually got it secured. Keeps the chip reasonably cool and is not excessively loud. Price is right.

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable and Awesome

Pros: I had not cleaned the CPU cooler since I built my computer two years ago. When I re-installed the stock CPU cooler (Intel) several push pins broke so I was forced to purchase another CPU cooler. My CPU was running idle at 40-2C--something many people would not complain over.

I was upset that I had to buy another CPU cooler but now I am glad. This CPU cooler is cheap and it easily clipped into my MOBO. Snap snap snap snap and it was done. Now my CPU idle temperature is 30 C.

This CPU also looks a hell lot better than the stock Intel GPU. It looks like a quality product.

Cons: Be careful when you remove the clear plastic package from the bottom of the CPU cooler. Mine didn't come with a thin film to protect the thermal paste.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value and performance

Pros: - Thermal compound already machine applied for a perfect fit
- Performance is better than an OEM Intel heatsink & fan
- Great value for the money
- Great performance
- Even comes with decent installation instructions

Cons: None. Perfect example of a product that was done right.

Other Thoughts: If you need a new or replacement heatsink & fan for most Intel applications, then this should be on your list.

If you want to overclock and need something more powerful, then your next step up will be liquid cooling -- starting at many times the price of this great HSF.

5 out of 5 eggsGood CPU cooler!

Pros: 1.) Built Heavy for a cheaper CPU cooler.
2.) Quiet, for those of you who say its load but have dog like hearing.
3.) Easy mounting, mounts like a intel 775 cooler. twist, push snap.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome for the price.

Pros: I just installed it on a Intel Q9950, its running at only 35c to 48c. I ran a prime95 test and only got up to 68c, its awesome for the price! Has the same profile as a intel stock cooler only taller & with a far better fan. very quiet running for me no problems so far. I would defiantly recommend for any one looking to run there cpu a bit cooler although I would not suggest using ot for over clocking.

Cons: None yet other than its not gold plated...

Other Thoughts: Worth the price! I know some people have gotten defective or noise fans but for 19$ there are bound to be a few bad ones in the mix.
