Rosewill RCX-Z775-LX 92mm Ball CPU Cooler

  • Hi-grade aluminum fins, 3 embedded copper heatpipes and copper base
ICON Loading...

Rosewill offers "the best choice in value" with its range of CPU coolers that offer high end features and performance at low end prices. The RCX-775-LX offers features found on many – more expensive – coolers. Designed specifically for Intel's Socket 775 processors, it combines multiple features into a package that performs equally as well as higher-priced units but at a fraction of the price.

A vertical stack of large dimension aluminum convection fans are supported – and penetrated by – 3 copper heatpipes which rise out of the base. The base's copper construction ensures maximum heat transference from the CPU's heatspreader. The pipes draw the heat up from the base for dispersion by the cooling fins.

The red 92mm ball bearing fan is mounted vertically along this array to blow cooling air over the fins and towards the cases' exhaust fan. Its PWM functionality lets the system's BIOS monitor the fan's speed as well as the thermal need of the CPU and adjust the fans speed lower during reduced computing cycles letting the user balance cooling performance with noise level.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation and Cooling Performance The copper base and 3 embedded copper heatpipes conduct heat fast; high-density aluminum fins maximize heat dissipation surface area, plus a 92mm cooling fan to deliver optimal cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice one

Pros: Cools well
low noise

Cons: Not the most silent and cool, but better than a stock retail one

Other Thoughts: This cooler migrated into 3rd i own computer already. Works well. Not as silent as a Zalman I have in my six-core AMD but much better than stock Intel one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler, great price!

Pros: The price. Great cooler for the money. Scrapped off the unknown paste, put on AS-5. Overclocked my q6600 to 3.0ghz and it runs like a champ. Temps used to be 40ish on idle, highest core temp running at 2.6ghz with stock cooler. Now it runs low 30s at idle clocked at 3.0ghz and rises to roughly mid 40s while under load. Can be a little lower or higher depending on ambient temperature. Amazing! Cheapest upgrade ever for an aging computer.

Cons: Not really a con because it is not Rosewill's fault that Intel's cooler design sucks. Had to rip out the mobo so I could get everything clamped in right. Again, not Rosewill's fault so I can't knock off an egg for that.

Other Thoughts: If you're not used to putting on Intel coolers frequently, it can be a chore to get mounted properly. It is best to take the extra step and remove your motherboard. You don't need a lots of force to get it seated. If you find yourself doing this then stop! Get Arctic Silver 5 and use it instead of the paste already on the unit for best results.

4 out of 5 eggsExtremely Effective CPU Cooling Solution for mere "pocket change"...

Pros: Awesome design! 6 heat pipes! WOW! Huge cooling Fan! Insanely low price! This all adds up to a fantastically huge "bang for your buck" value!

Cons: My only complaint is the plastic push-pin application. The snaps are just begging to wear out and snap off if one were to accidentally bump the heatsink while installing something in their case... (Which is why I can't give it a 5-star rating) C'mon now! When are manufacturers gonna learn that plastic parts are NOT the way to go?!

Other Thoughts: This thing is HUGE!! A lot bigger than I was expecting, and yet it still fit in my case just fine. My Intel E5200 dual core temps went from STOCK SPEEDS AT IDLE from...

50-52 C (idle STOCK SPEEDS)

TO...

38-42 C (idle OC'ed to 3 ghz!!)

I haven't seen it get any hotter than 48-49 C at full load!

A MUST-BUY for all you folks who ordered the Intel E5200 Dual Core or anything similar and are looking to squeeze some more speed out of it.

Pros: help cool my Intel E6600 for a year, cpu heat never goes over 24C on idle and never goes over 31C on full load

Other Thoughts: Am amaze that I can use this on AM2/AM2+ mobo, I did a little adjustment but it sure fit tight, glad I didn't have to spent extra $$$ to buy after market heatsink & fan, little modification and it help cool down my atholon ii x4 240 & then phenom ii x4 945 as of now

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This thing keeps my system running cool and with my window in my case it looks great. Quiet, good looks, and keeps my processor cool.

Cons: The only thing I found out about this is the size. If you dont have much room under your hood. lol You might not want something as tall as this.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this cooler for someone looking for an affordable cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsOh Snap

Pros: I have used Rosewill products for years on customer builds and without any problems. So across the board great job Rosewill.

Cons: When I saw the snap fit instead of the screw fit, I was excited.....until I had a snap fit problem. Bummer! Only 3 of the 4 would actually snap into the MB and hold. I found I like the screw type better!

Other Thoughts: I have a bad snap. 3 engaged the MB fine but the 4th didn't. I tried to snap it first, second, third , and last nothing worked and it was the same snap every time. I analyzed each snap and didn't find any obvious problems with this certain one. I finally twisted the snap hard opposite the unlock direction and I could get it to hold. But if I moved the snap a micro byte towards the unlock position it would unsnap. I know the screws will hold!

5 out of 5 eggsFan Works Great

Pros: Pretty quiet. I have an old desktop I use as a streaming server, FTP, and file server and you can't even tell it is there anymore. I am very happy with this.

Cons: It is tall, so make sure you have a full size case.

Other Thoughts: I bought some cheap thermal gel because you can pretty much expect to not get enough on the device.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Peasy Lemon Squishy

Pros: thermal compound built in, very well balanced fan, good heatpipe design, good blade design, and thick copper base

Cons: With all board mout pins, this one was a pain in the *&%$#@! Ensure the pin mounts are in the install position BEFORE installing.

Other Thoughts: Plan out installation, install BEFORE you mount your mainboard to your case and you're set to OC to 3.6ghz and beyond on air!
