4 out of 5 eggsNot quite as easy as I though, but works great after weird install

Pros: Cheap. Fan Spins. Already has thermal compound.

Cons: If your old fan uses screws, you're in for quite a bit of work

Other Thoughts: My factory fan died, so I unscrewed it from the MB and ordered this one. To install it, I had to remove the MB, and then remove a steel bracket from the back that had been glued on. It was pretty hairy, as you can't pry or you'll tear up the board. Ended up slowly working each threaded portion out of the MB with a small screwdriver until it popped free. If you don't want to deal with all that, I'd recommend one with screws like the factory one. I'd go that route if I had to do it again.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't Overdo It, This Works Just Fine.

Pros: +Price
+Easy to Install (Just make sure the pins are turned so they lock, before you push down)

Cons: -It will not make a smoothie, or air condition your house

Other Thoughts: I am going to use these (unless the price changes) on every Intel MB I build.

It brought my CPU temps ( along with Artic Thermal Paste ) down much farther than the OEM fan.

It only makes sense, that if you want it to last, a little TLC can make it go alot farther.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Stock Replacement

Pros: Fit right onto my CPU. Same shape/size/design as the stock cooler that came with the CPU. MUCH quieter than the stock had gotten. Cooled well, even under load (though I didn't do any heavy gaming). Good solid buy!

Cons: n/a

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, variable fan speed, fan duct

Cons: Aluminium contact to CPU; the mounting pins hang very loosely to the heatsink, but once I got them lined up to the motherboard the pins engaged fine.

Other Thoughts: Good luck trying to install this on to a motherboard still in a case (which I never do and did not do on this install). I imagine with the loose mounting pins that it would be a very tedious operation.

5 out of 5 eggsGood bang for your buck

Pros: Bought this for a 4690 (non K) that was not going to be overclocked. Stock fan was reading idle temps of 40-42 degrees. I reseated it and tried 3 different thermal pastes, nothing changed. After installing this idle temps dropped 10 degrees.

Cons: Not sure how it would handle over clocking

Other Thoughts: Would definitely buy again.

1 out of 5 eggsLost cause

Pros: None if it's a dud.

Cons: Piece of black retainer fell apart before installation. Metal brackets are unevenly oriented. Second retainer fell out during installation.

Other Thoughts: Waited too long before unboxing this junk. Not worth the cost and aggravation of a warranty

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Although the details state "Socket LGA 775 ( TDP under 86W )", I use this on 120 Watt Xeon socket 771 processors (on socket 775 motherboards using the mod sticker) and this puppy performs just fine. It's good even with 20% overclocks, but obviously not much higher than that.

It keeps processors about 5-7 degrees warmer than good HSFs, but good enough for grandma or little nephew/niece's use.

Cons: Although the clips on the motherboard are better than the stock Intel one (which are garbage), after 30+ times of use (I have to test multiple processors), it starts to bend a little. This won't be a problem for most people as you simply put it on and forget it. I use it for testing.

Other Thoughts: It blows air inside the case. If you want hot air to move outside the case, buy the ones that are directional towards the back of the case.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Value

Pros: -Great value.
-Solidly made.
-Included fan adjusts speed to temperature.
-Fan is very quiet.

Cons: -Likely not suitable for heavy overclocks.

Other Thoughts: For such a cheap CPU cooler, this one is surprisingly well made. It feels solid and not cheap, mounts snugly to the board and the included fan is large, speed adjustable to temperature and remarkably quiet. If you're looking to overclock this probably isn't sufficient but you're also crazy buying a $10 fan for an overclocked machine anyway.

For general use, this is top shelf quality for the price.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Works better than stock Core 2 Duo hsf, and almost same size
- Comes with thermal compound applied to the heatsink
- The plastic fasteners seem to install with less effort than Intel's

Cons: - Can get loud at times (see Other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: I've purchased this hsf to replace the stock Intel on a C2D CPU. The case I've used this on was limited on space, so I needed something that would be close in size to Intel's, and this one was only slightly taller. Initially it was loud, spinning at over 3000rpm, but I ended up changing the fan settings in BIOS (can also be done with third party apps in Windows) so it would spin at 2400rpm, which is very quiet. It lowered idle temp to around 50c (stock was 60c with indoor temp at ~25c), and doesn't go over 63c under load (this system isn't used for gaming) when the stock hsf was hovering in top 70's to low 80's.

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps everything nice and cool

Pros: I put this on my Core 2 Quad Q8300 Overclocked at 3.3ghz and I've never gone over 60c at full load.

Cons: Loud at full speed, but it has never gone that high without me causing it to manually.

Other Thoughts: Combined with artic silver 5, you can't lose.
