3 out of 5 eggsRosewill RCX-TC090PRO: great idea, needs a better brush

Pros: Great idea to have a resealable container, containing an applicator. The compound works well for heat transfer (CPUs are transferring heat to heatsinks nicely). Good price (paid $5.99 USD with free shipping).

Easier to use than the syringes, but I expected the brush to be a better quality & attached to the lid.

Cons: When I initially opened the bottle, the lid came off without the brush stem. Picked up the plastic brush stem off the top of the bottle (getting compound on my fingers) to find the brush mangled (like divided down the center smashed with bristles sticking out in every direction). Was able to use a paper towel to slightly straighten the brush, enough to use it... still pretty mangled.

Thought maybe since the bottle was a little warm (from being shipped in Florida summer) that may have been the reason the brush stem was not attached to the black lid. Tried placing a small drop of fingernail polish on the threads of the stem where it should attach to the lid, then closed the bottle & waited several hours for it to cool down / dry. No, the black lid still is not attached to the brush stem.

Other Thoughts: Even with the mangled brush I was able to apply the thermal compound to the CPU evenly. Wish the brush was attached to the cap like it was supposed to be (so the compound would not have gotten on me). Using a paper towel to hold the brush stem allows me to hold the brush stem without getting the compound on me.

If I needed thermal compound again in the future, I might buy this again... but with much lower expectations on the quality of the container & brush.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Stuff, no more other for me.

Pros: Better than Arctic Silver or Tuniq2. Lives up to it 10+ kW/m rating. Did the tests and the math. Buy it for $6-9, very worth it. Is not electrically conductive, I tested that too.

Cons: Won't get more than 85% of it out of nail-polish bottle. but hey! There is SOOOOOO much of it, it will dry up first.

Other Thoughts: Use a plastic bread bag grabber as little spatula to spread the 5 big dots on top of CPU or bottom of cooler. The brush is just for raw transfer out of bottle. The spatula idea is to spread to thickness of enamel paint, 1/3 that of paper. Real thin. Very. More thin... true for all pastes

3 out of 5 eggsIts all fun and games until you get some on your hands

Pros: Bottle is very convenient.
Plenty of compound, enough for several projects.
Very good value.

Cons: The brush. It's horribly worthless.

Other Thoughts: The brush is more than useless. It wastes the compound thats on it because you can only throw the mangled mess away. Furthermore, it wasn't even attached to the cap, and wouldn't attach even after I tried to re-insert it. It would have been so great if it was actually functional! Come on Rosewill!

Meanwhile I will just use a paintbrush dedicated to the bottle.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny

Pros: This is the best thermal compound I've worked with so far. I've tried other brands like artic silver, but the application isn't as easy as this brush on method. I would recommend this over the more expensive brands.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsStill experimental?

Pros: I have to admit that the idea of using a brush to apply thermal compound simply and without the normal mess is probably why I bought this stuff, not because I feel that this compound is better than any other. That said, it is a good idea, in principle.

Cons: The idea would probably work if the brush did. I'm disappointed that the brush is so darn soft and flimsy, not at all like the finger nail polish brush I expected. It's more like a very soft sable artist's oil paint brush, and the bristles of the brushes in each of the (2) bottles that I bought is mangled, almost beyond straightening. I attempted to clean one of them of compound so that I could try some rubber cement or something to straighten it out, but as I was cleaning it, the bristles pulled completely out in one clump. It was then easy to pull out the plastic stem in the lid which held them.

Other Thoughts: I think there may have been a rush to market, and then someone got the incredibly bad idea to manufacture way too many bottles before the design problems were revealed. I'd recommend anyone considering this purchase wait until version 2.0 (RCX-Reloaded?) comes out.

1 out of 5 eggsGone bad

Pros: It used to be great, is that a Pro?

Cons: The whole reason I got this over artic every time was for the convenience of applying with the brush. But now the brush comes clumped, bent, or broken making it harder than ever to use!

Other Thoughts: I don't know if they're stock went bad and they're dumping it on us or what, but send a message and save your money.
