4 out of 5 eggsMassive, but works pretty well (SuperMicro X8DTN+)

Pros: It's a generic cooler, not much else to say
Fits on both sockets of my Super Micro X8DTN+ mobo

Cons: It's massive, and only fits on 2U or larger cases, I have a 1U case for my server, and I cannot close the cover since it sticks out a good 3"

Other Thoughts: I ordered a second one to throw in and get my 2nd Xeon running, I ordered just one to test out whether it'd fit in the socket, this is after reading the most critical review of the cooler regarding supermicro boards. To my experience it works fine in my X8DTN+, which granted is a much larger board, but the cooler fits fine inside.

Although it not fitting in a 1U case is a negative for me, it's my fault for thinking an active cooler would do well in a 1U case. Regardless, everything works perfectly fine.

However for it's price, I think it's great, since my alternative was going to be buying a Coolermaster H50 self contained water cooler. That would fit better in the case, but be more expensive, while also being a bit overkill.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy Thish

Pros: there are no pros

Cons: this unit does not come with the mounting platform, required for a installation on a new board.

Other Thoughts: if you want a heat sink that you can actually install on a new board, DO NOT pick this one, i was assured that it had the required mounting platform, and when it arrived there was nothing to be found other than just the heatsink

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Easy to install, efficient, perfect fit on a SuperMicro 2U server board. Speed adjusts as needed when temps change (though that is actually controlled by the server itself).

Cons: Loud! Sounds like a jet engine taking off. Definitely not something you want on a machine in a user environment. The power cable on the fan is a bit short, so creative cable routing is difficult.

Other Thoughts: Dropped my processor temps 50ºF immediately.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit intel I7 motherboards

Pros: Probably works fine on Xeon processors fine.

Cons: Is not compatible with Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO as its an I7 core, even though the socket lga1366 matches. The Heat sink is too wide and hits the capacitors next to the socket. Nothing on the item page states that this is for lga1355/56 XEON only processors.

5 out of 5 eggsLike a Glove

Pros: Compact, nicely engineered, great price and very quiet.

Cons: Not copper?

Other Thoughts: I'm using a pair of these on an Asus Z8NR-D12 server motherboard and it fits like it was made specifically for it. Installation was a breeze as you cannot tighten it too much with the built-in stops. Cooler hardly gets warm strapped to an E5520 Xeon cpu. I read the other reviews and yes, if you hook this cooler to a (constant) +12v source, it DOES sound like a jet engine (and moves a TON of air for it's size). With the Intel cooling management enabled it runs whisper quiet.

1 out of 5 eggsTalk About LOUD!!!

Pros: It's a fan that's capable of cooling my CPU.

Cons: This is the loudest CPU fan I've ever heard. The people who said this fan was quiet were being sarcastic, really. The fan produces a loud and high pitch sound that I can even hear over my dehumidifier. You won't drift into sleep with this fan installed and you'll need a hearing aid in the near future. I bought this fan to replace my existing loud fan and this fan is even louder than my existing fan!

5 out of 5 eggsClean & Quiet

Pros: Fits perfectly to the motherboard and LG1356 CPU, and fits in a dual-CPU scenario.

It's relatively quiet, comes with thermal paste already applied, and very easy to install.

Cons: It doesn't make me coffee in the morning.

Other Thoughts: Always check your case space and motherboard heatsink mounting brackets before ordering a heatsink. I purchased these after RMAing the original heatsink/fan I had purchased because it neither would fit the dual-CPU setup nor the already permanently attached mounting bracket.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Active Heat Sink

Pros: Fits the Intel S5520HCT SSI EEB Server Mother Board with the Intel SC5650BRPNA Pedestal Server Chassis
Has thermal paste strips already attached to the heat sink
Good installation instructions

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have been running ESXi 5.0 for a few days now with this heat sink on my Xeon E5645 and 100% CPU for several days (testing) and the fans are very quiet, thermal temp is normal

5 out of 5 eggsThey do the job.

Pros: Fit nicely in a Supermicro X8DTL-if-o dual cpu board.
Kept CPU's cool.

Cons: Louder than Chuck Norris. I returned them because I got tired of people in the office asking me where the jets were landing, and that was with the server in a separate room with the door closed. I gave them 5 eggs because they are a good product and they do what they are meant to do - keep the cpu's cool. They are just too loud for an office environment.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Keeps any Xeon cool

Cons: It's not copper

Other Thoughts: I can't say that it's louder than any other heatsink I've used.
