Features

Features
The Intel DHX-B Thermal Solution is optimized for Intel Core i7-875K & Intel Core i5-655K processors to enable enhanced overclocking performance and is designed to exceed thermal requirements, even when set to quiet mode operation. The Intel Active Thermal Solution XTS100H O5 exceeds the cooling requirements for the 95W TDP Intel Core i7 processor in the LGA1156 Socket. The selectable fan speed control offers quiet and performance mode settings. In the quiet mode at a maximum of 35dBA exceeds the 95W CPU thermal requirements, and in performance mode setting offers the Enthusiast even more performance margin for Over Clocking. The stylish blue LEDs illuminate with power. The XTS100H highly polished CPU contact surface offers optimal heat transfer. The three heat pipe solution with six vertical rising pipes has been designed to withstand stringent shipping stress requirement testing while meeting the ATX motherboard "keep out" design guide requirements.

5 out of 5 eggspretty

Pros: its made by intel (youd think that be an obvious advantage), it has an LED, and that LED does NOT require an extra 3 pin molex, its pretty. i must also be the only person who mounts their MB with a 8" or 10" screwdriver, couldnt believe how many complained that the heatsink had deepwell holes. what else would you use a 3" driver?

Cons: NO INSTRUCTIONS. i swear the chinese think its hilarious to never include instructions of any use. 3 steps in fractured english...also, NO PICS ON NEWEGG only the front view which would have made difference to those without a long phillips....also, thanks to NE description, I know the letters/switch on the top of the fan is performance/quiet (shouldnt it be 'H/L' High/Low performance? more mediocre english) Secondly, even with NE description, no explanation of middle screw. I assume its a type of tensioner for CPU, but how do I calibrate it aside from trial/error?

Other Thoughts: intel seems to have always said, without saying, 'our stock heatsinks so good, others are waste of money' as they never released any. until recently. i have a 1366 socket one i have been eager to try once i have time to rebuild. so personally i am happy w the fact its intel as they SHOULD be the best at making CPU heatsinks for their own CPUs. and added bonus that it has some style, unlike there MBs which most are pretty plane-jane. i thought the cage and the LED were nice touch, where they could have made it 5.00 cheaper and then gave you nothing fancy. no opinion yet on heat dissipation

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Keeps my over clocked i-5 running below 40C. idles at 31C.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you have a small case this heat sink might not fit. It is huge.

2 out of 5 eggsARE YOU KIDDING?

Pros: This has to be one of the nosiest coolers on the market when running at full speed, other reviewers must have high frequency hearing loss!

I have had 3 of these from high-end projects with extreme Intel CPU, all on the shelf now, completely useless unless you are deaf.

Cons: Average/good cooler, when running at LOW speed.

Other Thoughts: WARNING, not to be used if noise is an issue

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent performer

Pros: Excellent cooling capacity, quiet fan, well built. Good performance in a relatively compact size.

Cons: The blue LEDs are a bit much, and I'm not a fan of the wire cage for the fan.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't expecting much from an Intel cooler, past experience has taught me that the heatsinks provided by the manufacturers are mediocre even at stock speeds. This cooler is absolutely the exception to that rule. Maxing all cores at stock speed, the CPU never goes over 135F. Probably not a good hardcore OC heatsink, but stock to moderate OC should be fine with this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsCool

Pros: Reduced load temperature by 19 deg. C
Very quiet even when using performance setting
Blue LED looks great in the dark

Cons: Require a long Philips screwdriver for 2 of the mounting screws.

Other Thoughts: Had some minor problems mounting it because two of the mounting screws required a longer screwdriver. Was using the stock fan & heatsink that came with my Core i7 2600K which idled around 38 deg. C and hitting 81 deg. C running Prime95 using maximum heat setting. After installing this cooler, idle temperature dropped to 32 deg. C and max load temperature never passed 62 deg. C. Ambient temperature during reading is around 26 deg. C. Very happy with the result of this cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsFully Assembled

Pros: Fits without fiddling.
Nice copper finish.
Doesn't interfere with other components.

Cons: A bit pricey.
Probably not as effective as some of the other coolers in the price range,

Other Thoughts: This is for the person who thinks it is enough of an effort to assemble the computer and does not want to assemble the components as well. Once you attach the back plate, which has adhesive, it goes on pretty much like a stock fan.
I am getting about a 10 degree improvement over the temps I was getting with the stock cooling fan that came with my 2500K. Using this in an Asus PZ68 Pro.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: Works well, and looks nice. I'm running this on a quad core i5 that runs at near 100% cpu usage most of the time. This is a nice step for those who need more aggressive cooling than the stock intel fan, but don't need liquid cooling.

Cons: Its big,BIG, other components may be very close, or even too close if you have a non standard motherboard. Also need to make sure your case can have a tall active cooling unit like this one.
