1 out of 5 eggsupdate to DOA.

Pros: none

Cons: After the manufacturer response stated that I should contact them using the "special" VIP@antec.com address, I did just that. In a very proffesional and civil email I told them that I had already replaced the heatsink with a different design (PWM fan clip-to-front) and would not be using their replacement policy, since that would just leave me with a superfluous, homeless heatsink.
I invited them to make another arrangements, suggesting that if they paid for the shipping (UPS call-tag, not difficult to arrange at all), I would send it back for a refund in the form of a check or pre-paid debit card. I also stated that I fully understand that, sometimes, a faulty product will make it past QC and that I've bought other Antec products in the past with success and didn't hold any grudges with the company.
They could have responded and told me if those terms were acceptable or if they would refund it as long as I paid the shipping costs, but they didn't respond at all.

Other Thoughts: Basicly the "Manufacturers Response" is a sham. They only post it to look good to the people reading the reviews, but have no intention of actually following through with the correspondence.
I would have understood if they had responded and told me that they could only do this or that in accordance with their return policies. After all, they're a business and their goal is to make profit and minimize loss as much as possible, but it's been 3 weeks and I still haven't got a response.

Clearly, they just don't care.

The "Manufacturers Response" was just a tool to maintain an *image* of service, nothing more, and with no intent to actually improve service or relations.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA/junk, bad design for servicing

Pros: looks kinda kewl

Cons: Fan was DOA, Motherboard header was fine and ran other PWM fans without issue. Even tried it with fan removed from heatsink chassis in case there was a short/ground issue, still no luck. Problem is that replacing the fan in this thing is a pain. I learned to never buy a heatsink with a fan inset within the heatsink, just use one with a fan that clips to the front, much easier that way if you have to replace an old/dead fan.

Also, you can't remove the fan without removing the heatsink from the MB, and you CANNOT remove the heatsink without COMPLETELY REMOVING THE MOTHERBOARD. It's a massive heatsink, you can't access the retaining screws with the MB mounted in the case. They may *say* it's *possible*, but this thing is huge so don't count on it unless you have tiny little elf fingers (even then, don't hold your breath). Even a fold-out MBtray will hang up with this thing on it.

Other Thoughts: I threw this in my bin of used parts, it looks like it might still be somewhat useful as a passive heatsink for something, or if I can rig a different fan on it.

I ordered a different heatsink with a traditional clip-to-front PWM fan, works flawlessly.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Never got to use it.

Cons: No intel installation kit. I couldn't get it in because there were two AMD install kits, but no intel and no mini wrench and nothing besides the thermal glue and AMD hook-ups. I dont want an RMA bc I just need the intel install kit.

5 out of 5 eggsKuhler w/ mini lga 1155 z68 is a no, no.

Pros: The heat sink is what it expected it to be, cooler.

Cons: Have an ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. Can't just place kuhler brackets at bottom of motherboard as instructed. One bracket I had to modify in order to fit properly. Was easy with the right tools, but would be impossible without. Not sure if any non stock heat sink would be compatible with this particular motherboard so I can't give it a minus eggs for that.

Other Thoughts: If you are using an lga 1155 motherboard, 1156 is same for no stock heat sink. My asus mini lga 1155 z68 was just not expecting bracket area to be occupied. If you own any asus z68 lga 1155 mobos check the back make sure area is not occupied.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Just an update on my earlier review now that I've had this installed for a while and my AS 5 has cured. Idle temps are down to 33c and after several hours of World of Warcraft (a very CPU heavy game) temps sit around 45c. Before this cooler I sat at 45c idle and 56c + after an hour or two of gaming.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsAM3 Install

Pros: well built product, looks sweet, came with brackets for most cpu's. No problems with clearing the first memory DIMM on my Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 board, and it fit like a dream in my InWin Dragon Rider. I'll update later after I let the AS 5 cure.

Cons: Intructions, no screws to attatch the mounting brackets to the cooler. The size could be an issue in some cases, but not in my Dragon Rider. It even clears the 200mm fan on the side panel. Had to knock an egg of for the missing screws, and the poor instructions.

Other Thoughts: Just got this cooler in earlier today, after reading the reviews it looked like an excellent choice for my 1055T AM3 Phenom II x6. The other reviews are right the instructions are horrid at best, but it's not too difficult to install.

On AM3 boards you have to reuse your stock backplate, remove the stock cooler mounting bracket and toss it. attatch the AM2 brackets to the Kuhler box. With the MoBo out of the case apply AS 5 or your preffered thermal paste as per the instructions. For the top two mounting points use the AND screws provided along with two of the washers from the Intell screw set. For the bottom two screws I reused 2 of the screws from my stock cooler mount. This was the only was I was able to obain a hold that felt secure enough. For this cooler I think it is especially important to "tint" the heatsink with your thermal paste as the surface is fairly uneven.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Lowered my Phenom II x4 CPU core temp by 15 to 20 degrees C over the stock cooler. And it is sooooo much quieter. I love it already.

Cons: Very big, not for every case/mobo. Also the mounting hardware and instructions leave a lot to be desired (the instructions are basically non-existant!). Anyone with a bit of mechanical know-how should be able to figure it out though.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great cooling and rather easy install. Overall quality product as usual from antec.

Cons: This was a bit of an oversite on my part but i have to bring it up. The memory i ordered was to tall to fit under this thing. Corsair vengeance 16 gig blue kit. How i fix it was not to bad. On the side of the memory i manually cut 3 of the heatsink fins away from the copper pipe and removed them. It now fits perfectly and looks as if it were stock. Just watch your clearances but for most people this is an easy mod to accomplish. All you need are small needle nose, scissors and or tin snips and a pair of dykes.

Other Thoughts: None its a great product but if the engineers at antec read this please for future reference keep in mind a performance cooler NEEDS more clearance on the memory side with all these new fandango heat spreaders. :)

5 out of 5 eggsBruce

Pros: Excellent cooler for AMD CPU's to include those that like to over clock. It really looks nice in my case and does what is was design for exceptionally well.

Cons: I have a full ATX board, and failed to measure the clearance prior to ordering the cooler. I had to remove bay #1 stick of ram to allow appropriate clearance for the cooler.

Other Thoughts: As usual Newegg's service and support is in my opinion second to none. I have used Newegg for some time now and I have never been disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsMassive Hardware for Serious Cooling

Pros: This cooler does an excellent job of keeping my AMD Phenom X6 1090T processor running nice and cool. With 8 heat pipes and a 120mm fan at the core, heat has not been an issue. Even with the processor overclocked at 3.5Ghz, the processor under full load stays below 40c.

Cons: The cooler itself is massive. With it installed, I'm unable to install a memory stick in the first memory bank. It would be a challenge to install in most cases. When installed, motherboard to the end of the cooler measures about 6.5". As others have mentioned, the mount kit is a bit lacking for AM3 processors. In the end I had to utilize my existing backplate (came with the mobo) as none of the provided brackets seemed to line up.
