Antec's Formula 6 thermal compound protects your CPU even when your rig is running on all cylinders. Since little of the CPU's surface actually touches the heat sink, you need a solution that isolates and facilitates the transfer of heat. Formula 6's nano diamond particles minimize the distance between heat-conductive compounds and gladly take on the highest demanding CPU, optimally performing between -30°C and 250°C. To keep your system cool and your CPU functioning comfortably, pick up Antec’s Formula 6 for a diamond-caliber solution.

  • newegg Exceptional Performance The Antec Formula 6 boasts diamond particles measuring 0.0000015 cm rated at 5.3 w/mK that lead to an extremely high thermal conductivity. Extended -30°C to 250°C stable temperature range guarantees quick and efficient dissipation of heat from the CPU ideal for performance cooling.
  • newegg High Durability Unlike transitional thermal compounds that show decreasing performance over time, this lighter, easier to spread stable composition won’t crack or dry out, delivering excellent long-lasting thermal conductivity.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Transfers heat very well, able to keep CPU cool with only stock CPU fan and stock case exhaust fan. Spreads out nicely when heatsink is set on top. Enough in tube for multiple applications if needed.

Cons: Does not spread well when putting on initial application. You try and cover one spot, it lifts up on to your tool and ends up in another. Always doing the opposite of what it should do. I guess thermal paste is never easy but this stuff seemed rather difficult compared to others.

5 out of 5 eggsBests Formula5 Hands Down

Pros: I have been a fan of Formula5 for many years, since back in 2004 when I applied it to my Northwood P4 water loop. This paste beats it without hesitation. For exact figures, see other thoughts.

Cons: None. Don't listen to whining about how "hard" it is to apply. It's a little tacky. I would rate it no harder than filling a 3" hole in a wall with spackle. If you can manage that, you can manage this.

Other Thoughts: The list of devices, loads and temps I've tested on:
T4300, 2.1 DC, 100% LL-D : 50C
E6700, 3.2->3.6, DC, 80-90% OpenCL (MFAKTO): 48-52
HD4650, 600->900(5)/930(6) : 85% OpenCL : 64C (5) -> 55C (6)
Dual L5420 Xeons: 2.5 QC: 80% LL/TF @ 67C(5) -> 95-100% LL/TF @ 66C (6)

Mind you all the prior Formula5 temps are fully cured over months, with dust addressed on a regular basis.

Other than applying AS6 (removing 5 w/ 91% isopropyl), today was normal maintenance and I've added OC or Load and dropped thermals on all devices tested, on the day of application.

5 out of 5 eggsTemps dropped a ton

Pros: My lows are 39* C and my high doesn't go over 70*C it was mid-high 50s before and my highs were in the 100s which isn't good for my asus g73jh

Cons: Its thick and hard to get off your fingers lol

Other Thoughts: I would buy this product again maybe for life I am really pleased with how well it turned out.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works.

Pros: Keeps the CPU cool, ~28C idle with a cool master hyper 212.

Easy to use, included a plastic spreader to apply.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's a little pricey for thermal paste, but it works good.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the Buck

Pros: Spread even over the cpu and gpu, gave great cooling for my AMD 8120 OC 4.4Ghz, 16C idle and 46C full load with stock cooling. Also spread over my GTX 275 and GTS450 gets about 38C - 60C on load.

Cons: Wished i had more :) LOL

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: This worked flawlessly. keeps my i5-3570k at 25 degrees Celsius at idle, and 29 degrees Celsius at full load. I have a mid tower case with 3 low CFM fans. so i'm really impressed with this product.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: when i put the paste on i used all of it. i would highly recommend this product to everyone

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Thermal Paste :)

Pros: It makes about a 5° C difference from non-diamond dust compounds. Application is easy and the stick it comes with does work, you just have to have some patience.

Cons: None that I can comment on as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Great and will buy for future builds.

3 out of 5 eggsFor what it's worth

Pros: High heat conductivity base on it's composition.

Cons: Does not work well with others...there are easier products to use. May have to use if other pastes won't keep your processors cool enough

My package did not include instructions...however, their website does give the proper instructions on how to use.

Don't know if it's worth the extra bucks...maybe if you're overclocking???

Other Thoughts: You don't have be a pro to use this product. After applying this product to two CPUs and two GPUs I just about threw it out. It did ball up and did not spread very well. Some will say a little drop will do you but with my quad core I am not going to take the chance on burning it up. I figure they put the surface there for a reason. Per the Antec website they don't recommend that either! Here's the secret...BE CLEAN AND PATIENT. The clumping was my fault because I cut corners and just wiped off the surfaces and spread it to quickly. Wipe both surfaces with a lint free cloth wet with 99% iso alcohol. Wait for alcohol to dry, then with the tool they give you or an old credit card, spread the paste SLOWLY with the tool at about a 30 degree angle. If you pull too fast the paste will lift off the surface. Just work it around the processor slowly until a thin layer is achieved but remember we're not building a house with it so don't want to go overkill. No need to apply to heat sink surface. Put the heat sink on and I like to twist the heat sink a little to set the paste and work into any surface missing paste.

Hope this helps!

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good

Pros: When I replaced the Arctic Silver 5 on my overtaxed GPUs (See "Other thoughts") with this stuff, I noticed an immediate reduction of ~12 degrees Celsius. The two cards went from about 70 and 63 down to 56 and 54.

Since my computer is in a room that tends to get a little dusty, I end up cleaning heatsinks often and find myself needing to reapply thermal paste. I can appreciate a thermal paste that, while still freshly applied, outperforms a fully-cured application of Arctic Silver 5.

I also applied it to my CPU, but since it was already running pretty cool, I saw only modest improvements.

Cons: When I call it a "thermal paste," that's exactly what I mean; it has approximately the same consistency as paste. Some may find this difficult to work with, but I found that in situations that allow it, using a "smoosh and twist" technique before securing the heat sink spreads the paste well. Granted, not every scenario allows for that kind of motion between heat sink and processor (even before locking down), so your mileage may vary.

Other Thoughts: Regarding the 5450's... I was making the best of the situation, and while two performed far better than one (roughly doubled the Unigine benchmark), that still wasn't much. I would compare them to running one 5570, if you're curious. Replacing the passive heat sink helped somewhat.
The temperature difference between the two cards was partly because I only had one extra heat sink to swap in for the stock passive cooler, and partly because of a flaw in the motherboard design... Really, Biostar, who puts two PCI-Ex16 slots 1.5 inches apart? You do, that's who. Oh! And throw in a PCI-Ex1 slot between them, too.

If anyone is mortified that I compared this product to the revered AS-5, I won't be offended if you assume I had applied it wrong. Whatever helps you feel better, right?
