5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan

Pros: Moves lots of air. Great speed control. Quiet.
I have had this fan for over 2 years now. Still works great. very solid.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Best fan I have in my case still after 2 years. i do have lots of fans too. Others were replaced twice but this one still runs strong.

1 out of 5 eggsDead fans, no help

Pros: None, dead fans

Cons: Both fans dead out of the box.

Other Thoughts: Cannot RMA back to the egg.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing SilverStone. Please check that you have connected the included fan controllers to the FM83. They will not run if the fan controllers are not connected. If the fans still do not work, then please contact our US office directly at:

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Fan

Pros: It has great air flow. Runs quiet at normal speed. Well-built and the speed control unit is the same as with other SilverStone fans, it attached fine. It keeps my processor cool! Others have complained about the actual sizing being 92mm instead of 80mm, but it lists that clearly in the specs. The 92mm housing allows for a larger fan while still fitting an 80mm port. It was perfect for the side of my case.

Cons: It only has mounting holes on one side, so it could only be exhaust. I wanted it to blow in cool air for my processor, so I went to the hardware store, bought four 1-1/2" bolts and nuts ($1.50 ?), mounted it backwards and PRESTO I have fresh air for my CPU. So, not really a con.
The screen protector it comes with reduces air flow. I just removed it and I'm careful not to let anything hit the fan!

Other Thoughts: It would be helpful to have mounting holes on both sides of the fan, like other fans do, but that wasn't a big problem for me. I bought one of these and two 120mm SilverStones for my first build over 2 years ago, and I am very satisfied with them. I will buy more in the future!

3 out of 5 eggsSeems nice.

Pros: Well built.

Cons: I can't use them. Oversized body.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately I haven't been able to use the two fans I bought. I've had these on my wish list for sometime and I finally bought two to go into my HTPC. Unfortunately I did not see where it says although it's technically an 80mm fan it's overall size is 95mm, so they don't fit.

5 out of 5 eggsSilverStone (92mm) 80 mm Fan

Pros: The framing design gives you the ability to mount it on the case for a 80mm fan spot, but the fan itself is 92 mm, which gives you excellent air force flow. Great for the Exhaust fan cause of the speed controller that comes with it. you can turn it up to almost 4000 rpm if you need it.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Don't give a bit about the fan noise that others complain about. I run 6 computers in my office constantly for testing and development and building for others, the noisy fans I have is in my window and on my ceiling.

Pros: Moves a lot of air.

Cons: Sounds like a jet engine. It is a little too efficient.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect product

Pros: Runs fast, quiet and has a nice control switch. No complaints at all.

Cons: True, it isn't reversible but you can tell that from the pictures--which you should always inspect carefully before buying.

5 out of 5 eggsExten the usefullness of an older case

Pros: If you have an older case, this fan will ventilate it nicely.
It is a 92mm fan. I don't find it any louder than a room A/C running on low. It definitely helped my overheating problem.

Cons: To get the most out of this, you have to take some tin snips to the case.

Other Thoughts: I put the fan on the outside of my case. Then I traced the outer edge of the fan onto the case. I took a pair of sheet metal snips and cut out an opening leaving just 4 tabs to mount the fan. If you have youngsters around, be sure to get a wire fan guard to prevent cuts. Removing the obstruction to the fan probably cut the noise down.

5 out of 5 eggsBig Pusher

Pros: This thing, really, really moves some air. Right now it's working with an 80mm TT intake and an 120MM TT intake, and this baby is set to the exhaust. If warm air is coming out, and I crank the fan up to full blast, it's a matter of minutes before the air coming out the end is cool again.

Cons: The fan is not reversible, sadly. It's meant to be an exhaust only fan.

Other Thoughts: Loud, but for the air it moves, who cares. The 92mm fan on 80mm bracketing in great for cases that will take both size fans, I've got a XION Solaris XON-406, and the exhaust bracketing is both 80/92mm. This fits perfectly.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Strong fan.

Cons: This fan IS NOT REVERSIBLE, and is only designed as an exhaust fan. I wanted to mount on side of my case to blow over my CPU and video card, but since this fan only has mounting holes on one side, it wasn't possible.
