SilverStone Technology’s Nitrogon NT07-1156 is a super slim profile CPU cooler designed for space limited applications that utilizes LGA 1156 platforms. It has a copper center construction with extruded aluminum fins for excellent thermal conductive capability that rivals many larger coolers. The custom 90mm fan was designed with fan blades to achieve the highest air pressure possible while maintaining an acoustic profile that is rare for cooler of this size. At a total height of only 37mm tall, the NT07-1156 is likely the best choice and the only choice for slim sized cases utilizing LGA 1156 processors.

  • newegg Low Profile Only 37mm tall, the SilverStone NT07-1156 is ideal for height-constrained cases with Intel LGA 1156 platform inside. It uses push pins for easy installation.
  • newegg Excellent Thermal Performance Copper center and base with extruded aluminum fins deliver impressive heat transfer ratio as opposed to the stock cooler.
  • newegg Low Noise Custom 90mm fan provides excellent cooling and runs with low noise. Built-in Intel Extreme series CPU cooler fan speed switch allows manual speed control between 1200~3000rpm ± 10% and 1200~1800rpm ± 10% cater to your preference.

4 out of 5 eggssolid product

Pros: very low profile which was exactly what I needed with my build

Cons: in very cramped cases and while using arctic silver my CPU temperatures were in the 80-90 C range under load. This was my fault since I was going for a high end fanless build

Other Thoughts: Solid product but on its own cannot keep temperatures low enough for my liking

4 out of 5 eggsEffective yet less than satisfying.

Pros: It definitely works and keeps my processor relatively cool.

Cons: No real complaints.

Other Thoughts: I expected the fan to spin much faster than 1400 rpm since its a fairly small fan but since its keeping the processor cool I guess it works.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes a Decent Job

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. Button to switch fan between two speed settings.

Cons: A bit expensive considering the results.

Other Thoughts: Did not notice any outstanding temperature changes, so it's more or less on par with stock cooling solutions. Not much change in noise either.

Used Arctic Silver thermal paste, even after a few months the drop is pretty insignificant.

2 out of 5 eggsSame as stock i5 heatsink

Pros: None

Cons: This heatsink gave me the same temps as my stock i5 heatsink. I returned this heatsink.

It is also pretty loud under a full load.

Other Thoughts: Don't bother with this product if you're trying to OC, obviously.

5 out of 5 eggsQuieter than Stock

Pros: Installed on low power 45 Watt Xeon 1265L V2 and ASROCK mini-itx Z77 inside Mini-box M350 case. Stock Intel cooler was aluminum instead of copper. A few degrees cooler. Low 30C vs 33C at idle. Fan is a quieter "hum" vs the stock higher "fan" noise level. Seperate paste package and seal cover on copper heat sink are a plus also!

Cons: Remember to set the bios fan setting to "Auto" instead of "FULL". The clicks for push pin install were barely audible, push on the 2 opposite pins gently for easier install.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks okay

Pros: Low profile, very quiet which is what I wanted in HTPC build. Poorly designed push pins (see cons) allow for installation with uninstalling motherboard.

Cons: The push pins or posts that push through the motherboard are rather flimsy and short. It was a real challenge to install on the mATX ASUS Maximus Gene V board. The pins would lock in place on one side then pop out as you tried to seat the opposit pin. Each time it popped I had to re-smooth the thermal compound. It would have gotten 4 stars if they had pushed in with a satisfying click and then easily turned to lock.

Other Thoughts: I installed this over a I7-3770S on the Asus Mamimus Gene V in a Lian Lia PC-C60B HTPC case. Although the case has 2 built-in 140mm fans, airflow is restricted due to the HTPC profile. The CPU tempature runs at 35-37C on idle and 40-50 on a larger load. No real improvement over the "free" stock cooler, except in noise level. I'm not positive I'll have to add a more effecient CPU fan once its in the restricted A/V cabinet.

5 out of 5 eggsGood fan

Pros: Plenty quiet per my ears. At first, I kept checking to be sure it was spinning.

Cons: None for a non-overclocked build.

Other Thoughts: Using it in a small ITX build with an i7-3770S CPU. Idle is 35-40C and 60C at load. Using with Arctic Silver compound. Couldn't be happier.

4 out of 5 eggsDelicate

Pros: Small, 2 speed fan, cools very efficient, very quiet. All i can hear now is my harddrive

Cons: Its fragile. My fault entirely I dropped it about 10 inches and it broke the plastic cage for the fan. But it broke at a point that is very small (bad design) But i was able to super glue it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Well constructed and easy to install. Very slim and fits very easily into my htpc build without excess noise. Keeps an i5 2550k at 37 degrees at idle and 46 degrees under load.

Cons: Thermal paste that came with it was pretty suspect.

Other Thoughts: Skip the thermal paste that comes in the package and buy some decent stuff. What came with it was difficult to manipulate and didn't conduct particularly well.
