5 out of 5 eggsQuiet little cpu cooler

Pros: Very quiet. Runs cool. Installs relatively easy. Plenty of YouTube vids to help with that.

Cons: Instructions are a little confusing, but with YouTube, they make more sense.

Other Thoughts: Traded out the stock fan for this and I'm much happier at how quiet it is. Doesn't make a noise.

3 out of 5 eggsSmall Form Factor Cooling Monster

Pros: Includes rubber isolating stickers for the fan to keep vibration noise to a minimum
The cable for the fan is a sleeved black cable rather than just the colored exposed wires

Nice thin fan at 20 mm that moves a decent amount of air all while being very quiet compared to my old cooler.

Having the option to put the fan underneath rather than just on top makes this a great cooler for small form factor builds that may not have a lot of height room like mine.

Great cooling performance thanks to those 6 heat pipes and a good performing 120 mm fan as shown below:

SILVERSTONE NT06-PRO (Fan underneath)
• Idle Average: 100.4 °F
• Load Average: 130.1 °F
• Noise: Like a small breeze

Cooler Master Vortex Plus (Old Cooler)
• Idle Average: 109.4 °F
• Load Average: 167.9 °F
• Noise: Like a hair dryer

Cons: The heat sink was bent right out of the box. I was able to very gently bend it back to its original parallel state with its base. I don’t know who is to blame for this but it is unacceptable in regards to the good quality I was expecting.

One of the plastics clips that attaches to the back plate was broken right out of the box. Thankfully this wasn’t needed for an AMD platform so I didn’t need the clip but still I expect better.

Other Thoughts: Overall despite the slight damage to my unit this is a great cooler for a small form factor build. If it will fit a bigger cooler with a bigger fan is always better when you’re working with a small form factor system. Basically if your case can accommodate a cooler with a 120+ mm fan get it, don’t waste your time and money on one with a smaller fan, they’re just loud and inefficient.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: It's quiet!
Excellent cooling power and has a very low profile if used with the fan under the heatsink blowing up through it.
First perfectly on my Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5. Installed with the heatpipes towards the memory and clears it no problem. Does come PRETTY close the the first PCI-e slot though...

Cons: The install was a little clumsy.. but I installed it on a motherboard that wasn't in my case yet.

1 out of 5 eggsEpic Failure

Pros: n/a

Cons: 1. The heatsink was not lapped. It took a river of TIM to fill the valley in the heatsink. The finish was worse then brushed aluminum.
2. most of the heat pipes protrude so far out of the fins, that it bangs into the back of the case, side of the case, or back of the video cards- depending on how you mount it.
This was in a SG05. They recommend you use this in a SG05....EPIC FAIL.

Other Thoughts: bent but that doesn't stop it from working, like the other issues.

3 out of 5 eggsPITA to Install

Pros: Nice big looking cooler. Low profile.

Cons: I've tried to install the heatsink in a Silverstone Raven RVZ01 mini-ITX case and I couldn't get it to install correctly. Plus the heatsink's backplate didn't fit very well with my mini-ITX motherboard (ASROCK FM2A88X-ITX+) because of a MOSFET on the underside was blocking proper backplate fitting. I was afraid the tension of the backplate and heatsink would damage the MOSFET and thereby the motherboard. And have fun getting this sucker installed in the very tight space of the RVZ01 case. The bracket tension is terrible. Also the fan that came with it was a 3pin and not 4pin. Perhaps a packing mistake? Not happy about it.

Other Thoughts: Fortunately my motherboard survived the ordeal with this Silverstone cooler. I've instead went with the Corsair H55 watercooler and it fits nicely inside the RVZ01 case. Easy install! Keeps the temps pretty cool on my AMD A10-7850K APU. :)

1 out of 5 eggswill not fit my MOBo

Pros: looks good, good reviews. ( i am guessing the reviews were for intel and not AMD boards.)

Cons: I bought this heatsink based on previous reviews.
seemed like it would be a good match with the
GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+ / FM2 AMD Micro ATX AMD Motherboard and
AMD A10-6800K Richland 4.1GHz (4.4GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 and a
Fractal Design Node 605 HTPC case.

Followed the directions exactly. The clips that secure the fan to the mobo do not fit the pattern of the AMD back plate that was sent with this cpu cooler.
There is a combination of 2 each AMD and Intel clips that fit together via some really small screws that make a rectangular support that is used in conjunction with a crossbar type clip that holds the fan down onto the cpu.
its actually more of a square shape than a rectangular shape and just does not fit the pattern of the back-plate. Tried going online to find out more info but all info is based on installation of intel cpu and not AMD cpu's. returning product for refund.
Has anyone else come across this problem?

Other Thoughts: seems like there should be two other longer clips to screw onto the AMD clips. The intel clips that are supposed to screw onto the AMD clips are short by about an inch.

4 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: keeps my cpu under 45-50 celcius under load and 30-33 celcius with no load. in my sg03 silverstone case. which is enclosed with a 7970 sapphire x ...it made clearance underneath the full psu. just made it. it was a close fit but you can make it work. the cpu fan runs low around 1200cfm to 1500cfm and to my suprise it keeps the cpu cool and quiet.

Cons: none besides the tight clearance but it stills works.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes Not Clear RAM Modules with Tall Heatsinks

Pros: This is massive and I'm sure it would provide significantly more cooling than stock CPU coolers.

Cons: This is very large and unfortunately does not clear memory modules with tall heatsinks. I tried to use this with the SilverStone RVZ01B and had to remove the fan on the cover due to clearance issues. In the end, ended up not using this cooler due to clearance issues with the case and internal parts.

Other Thoughts: My recent build:

Case: SilverStone RVZ01B
MB: ASRock Z87E-ITX
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K
CPU Cooler: Stock
RAM: Patriot Viper 3 16GB DDR3 1600
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW
HD: Seagate ST2000DX001 2TB
GPU: MSI Gaming N760 TF 2GD5/OC

5 out of 5 eggsnice cooler!

Pros: Best cooling efficiency and low noise for low profile (tiny case) setups.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I fit mine in a Silverstone SG05 case.
It fits perfectly, as if it was designed with this case in mind.

I recommend
1) connect whatever you need to on the motherboard before dropping the main part on.

2) I used very low profile ram, you could use regular ram without a tall heatsink but the low profile makes it a lot easier to install I think. I recommend crucial ballistix sport VLP 1.35v 1600, this stuff overclocks great @1866, 1.5v, 9/10/10/27
Because I used low profile ram, I also managed to fit a 25mm tall F-12 noctua fan underneath.

3) This advice might save you hours of frustration. After attaching backplate to motherboard, test different facings of the metal parts you put on the posts to see which combination makes the crossbar fit well. There are 3 possibilities:
1) wide part on both facing CPU
2) narrow part on both facing CPU
3) 1 narrow + 1 wide facing CPU

A tutorial video on the youtube incorrectly states that only #2 is correct. I found #3 worked for me with MSI Z87I AC gaming motherboard.

3 out of 5 eggsA VERY Tight Fit

Pros: The NT06-Pro cooler and fan exactly fit between the CPU and the top case fan in a SilverStone SST-SG08B Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case (with 600W Power Supply). It cools well and quietly. Once installed, it has worked fine for about 3 months.

Cons: After clipping the fan onto the cooler, I could not get to the rear of the HDD to connect cables (plus you must have a left-angle SATA cable to avoid kinking the SATA connecter). I had to connect the cables to the rear of the HDD and then pry the fan mounting clips onto the cooler. The fan is now just a 1/4 inch or so off-center on the cooler, and the mounting clip closes to the HDD is stretched a bit out of shape. If you do this carefully, everything holds in place, but the rear of the HDD does push the fan off-center and the fan mounting clip is under constant stress.

Other Thoughts: As the NT06 was installed in my 1st mini-ITX case build, I learned that not everything easily fits into that size case. I don't think that I will have any further problems as I don't intend to remove the CPU cooler or the HDD for a couple of years, yet, time will tell.
