5 out of 5 eggsNice Fan

Pros: Quiet
Thin
Inexpensive

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This fan does a good job moving a sufficient amount of air to cool. It's not totally silent, but about as quiet a fan out there and it's inexpensive. No issues since buying it over a year ago. I also like its thin profile for mini-ITX cases that have little room to spare.

4 out of 5 eggsvery quiet at lower voltage

Pros: quiet at low voltage, bit noisy at high voltage, good compromise for so much cfm

Cons: would like a fully silent at high voltage version, who wouldn't? Also, rubber mounting pegs did not last more than a day, had to use screws.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't make em like they used to...

Pros: Moves a lot of air with minimal noise.

Cons: Doesn't last.

This is the fourth one of these fans I've owned.

The first two I had failed, but I was able to peel the sticker off, lube them up again, and they've run about...how long have they made these? That long. Still going as of 6/2015.

The second two have been nothing but trouble. And you can't oil/disassemble them.

Oh, and they leak some sort of oil when they fail, so DON'T put them on top of a case! Glad they didn't destroy my rig!

Other Thoughts: I'll be looking for a worthy replacement. I don't know if anything else in this form factor that can move this much air. But pretty much any fan I've used would be more reliable.

2 out of 5 eggsWish they lasted

Pros: Excellent sound level for the airflow they generate

Cons: Never had one last over 30 days. I find liquid near the edge of the fan dripping within that time. They "hydro dynamic bearings" do not hold up like they are ment to. I keep hearing long life with Hydro Dynamic but it hasn't worked out so far. I have tried different SilenX's over time and each one has the same fail point. The hydro bearing.

Other Thoughts: I end up with Silverstone FM121's again. They last and last and last, but they are loud when set to full blast at 110 CFM. Not "Delta" loud but enough to be slightly anoying, but I need the airflow. Sadly this SilenX just wont last for me I loved the sound level.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The fan has great airflow, and is very quiet for the amount of air it moves. Additionally they also included a three pin to four pin molex adapter which was helpful for me.

Cons: Is a bit louder than my previous fans, then again it moves three times the amount of air.

4 out of 5 eggsBuild Quality

Pros: Good air flow, quiet, cheap, and has 3 pin to psu adapters.

Cons: Even though this fan is as quiet and has a high cfm, it has terrible build quality. This fan looked like the blades were held on with paper and it advertised a "grey" color. When i opened the new egg box i was surprised to find that they are a glittery bold gold color.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb

Pros: Moves a ton of air at exceptionally low noise level when running at full speed

Cons: No lighted version :(

Other Thoughts: I will definitely be using more of these in my high performance rigs that get hot. This allowed me to not go with water cooling. I'd rather put my bucks into a 10k hard drive than a water cooler and this allowed that to happen. I'm happy.
Please note that these are THICKER than a standard fan. Be sure you have room. Apx 1.5 times as deep.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: These fans are great. Great airflow to keep the components in your case cool. Being thicker then your average 120mm it has wider blades and can push much more air. While i admit they are pricy most fans have to generate a lot more noise to equal cfm or sacrifice alot of flow to keep it quiet.

Cons: -would be nice if it had 4pin plug for pmw control but i use a fan controller anyway so not really an issue for me. Perhaps those without one though.
-would also love it if these had led lights.

Other Thoughts: These fans are much thicker then your regular 120mm fan so make sure you have the space for them. For an idea of how big they are take two 120's and lay them on top of each other. The silenx is about 3/4 of the combined thickness.
As for the noise level it really depends on your definition of noise. What you hear is the whoosh of air not the mother or a high pitched whine. I recommend a fan controller so you can adjust speed/noise to your liking. I only crank it up during gaming. Only 50-70% otherwise.
These are great for top vents (no rattle when secured properly) and rear vent. Side placement may interfere with gpu depending on width of case and a bottom mounted hard drive cage will not allow for front placement unless its removable. As for a bottom case vent I'd say probably not but i guess it depends on the thickness of your psu cables. Mine are thick and won't allow it.

5 out of 5 eggs120x38mm

Pros: Moves a lot of air with less noise than anything else. Silicone fasteners work well in some setups.

Cons: Doesn't fit some setups at 38mm thick

Other Thoughts: I've had this for a bunch of years (since it came out so at least four, maybe six?) and there's not really anything that compares. It's big and if run at higher speeds, can be louder than anything else. If run at nominal speeds, it will push more air with less noise than any other 120mm fan.

To address the complaints in other reviews, first about noise: different boards/PSUs will throw different power at your fans, so these will run different speeds in different setups. If you can control the speed, this isn't an issue. If you can't, then yes, they might be loud. But so will any fan. If you have restrictions, that can make noise too. Ain't the fan's fault.

And just as some of the other reviewers, I had this fail loudly after about 4 years, in a pretty dusty environment. Pulled it apart and oiled it and it's running fine. If your in a smoky/dusty house, it might fail sooner. Other fans have not lasted so long. Fans are a mechanical wear part--they die. Fact of life.

And yep, it's 38mm thick, so it might not fit your application. I bought two more of these for a 240mm radiator and I expect them to perform just as well as they have in my case.

The color is not "silver". It's metallic bronze-y spray paint. If you care a bout looks, just buy a mac. If you want a brutal air mover, the IXP-76-18 (120x120x38mm) is your only candidate.

In summary: if you can't go wider diameter, here's a way to move more air by going thicker. It really works. This is good gear.
