The ultimate in airflow to noise ratio, Effizio Quiet Fans are the only fans in the industry to be designed with silence and optimal airflow in mind. Smaller, domed motor hub, larger, more dramatic fan blade sweep area, no other fans on the market come even close in performance! There might be fans that offer more airflow or lower noise levels, but when it comes to a balance between the two, these fans can't be beat, now with Japanese fluid dynamic bearings for ultra long life and reduced vibration.

  • newegg Great airflow to noise ratio The smaller motor hub and larger fan blade sweep area make the SilenX EFX-08-15 deliver 32 CFM airflow at a low noise level of 15 dBA. This case fan is perfectly balanced between performance and noise.
  • newegg Japanese fluid dynamic bearings With Japanese fluid dynamic bearings, the SilenX EFX-08-15 can run quietly while offering extended service life.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan. Super Quiet. Awesome look to it.

Pros: I have this 80mm as an outgoing case fan at the back and I have the 92mm on the Silenx CPU cooler. Both are running full speed all the time and are totally quiet. The black and red is awesome and I'm going to get some 120mm ones for the side of the case next, so you can see the red fans through the ventilation holes. Love the rubber mounting option. Really easy and tool-less installation.

Cons: none yet.

Other Thoughts: They come with adapters for mounting that are rubber, for no vibration transfer to/against the case. I found them super easy to install, but if the case were more cramped or if my hands were much bigger it might have been a headache, but it comes with normal mounting screws too if that's the case.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet

Pros: quiet, fit my small case (Antec ISK 300-65) would buy them again.

Cons: a bit low on air movement, but they are quiet

Other Thoughts: I would buy these again

1 out of 5 eggsNot as advertised.

Pros: Nice red color. Comes with attached 3 pin to 4 pin adapter.

Cons: This fan makes more noise than it's rating of 15 dBA. In a quiet room with the fan running off a 12 volt adapter it sounds a lot louder than fans I have rate at 18.1 dBA. The airflow appears to be less than the 32cfm rating. The attached 4 pin connector can make your wiring look sloppy. After installing this fan with rubber washers and on top of a rubber gasket the noise coming from this fan was still loud. Taking into account the air movement sounds, the fan is not quiet as advertised. Very very disappointed.

Other Thoughts: If your trying to build a somewhat quiet system these fans will not help. I would look for something else. I don't recommend this fan for building a quiet PC. The 4 pin connector can easily be removed using a wire cutter.

5 out of 5 eggsFans work well

Pros: Very quiet, airflow seems very sufficient using 3pins off motherboard, black cabling is a definite plus

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I haven't owned for long but through all the search criteria these were what I was looking for and they work fantastic.

3 out of 5 eggsA little disappoited

Pros: Very quiet.
Very subtle, no LED lights.
Sleeved wiring, black.

Cons: Low airflow.
Toolless rubber mounts worthless.

Other Thoughts: So I knew going into this that airflow would be less than spectacular, and for that reason I was expecting a 4 egg product. Not great but it would meet my needs. I like how quiet they are: there are louder components in my rigso I'll never here them, and I like the lack of LEDs as I have custom lighting in my case and I don't want my fans detracting from that.

However...after 2 weeks i glanced behind my case and noticed two small black rubber dots...the heads of the toolless rubber mounts and ripped free of the posts. Just touching another of the mounts caused the head to peel away and I found that none of the 8 mounts had survived this inspection.

The rubber used for these mounts is very cheap and I'm not surprised it deteriorated so quickly. After remounting the fans using standard screw I noticed a bit of vibration in one of the two fans...a little jiggling fixed that problem, but I wont be surprised if it returns.

It's a bit disappointing, because the build quality of the fans seems solid, except for the very cheap rubber they used for the rubber mounts.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Quiet!

Pros: Very quiet. Blows a good amount of air but not a ton of it. Price is good and so is the quality. Has both a 3 pin connector and a 4 pin Molex connector.

Cons: None really that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Added this to the back of my HTPC to add a little extra cooling. Works really great and I cant hear it. Thats what I was looking for. Blows a good amount of air, but not a lot of it if thats what youre looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat addition to the Silenx 80mm CPU cooler

Pros: Simple addition to my existing 80mm CPU cooler for my HTPC which needed a low profile cooler. Needed something to create additional airflow to reduce heat, so by using an efficient push / pull method, it has reduced my CPU's temp by 10 degree Celsius.

Cons: None that I can think of; adding the cooler to the existing one was kind of a pain, but there's no noise, so that evens it out.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty quite, but not at rated flow

Pros: Very quiet for an 80mm fan.
Good price for as quiet as it is.
3-pin AND molex plugs attached is a nice idea

Cons: Does not move as much air as a fan with same CFM rating. Not a deal-breaker for my needs but would be nice if it was as described.

Other Thoughts: Interestingly enough, of the 2 brands of fans I purchased for a system neither were as described. This one was quiet but didnt move as much air, the other moved the air but was not as quiet.

4 out of 5 eggsVery quiet.

Pros: Extremely quiet, even without the silicone dampeners. Have to stick my ear right next to it to hear it over the PSU fan (which I probably want to change out for something quieter). Old, obnoxiously loud fan was advertised at 2900 RPM, 35.20 CFM, 34.5 dBA. It is very difficult to compare the noise difference since this one is virtually silent but I'd say it pumps out a quarter of the noise.

Cons: Absolutely no way this fan has the rated CFM. Old, obnoxiously loud fan was advertised at 2900 RPM, 35.20 CFM, 34.5 dBA. This fan probably moves half the air, 60% at most. I don't need this fan to move a ton of air, but I was expecting a little more than this. Minus one egg for exaggerated airflow figures.

Other note: lm-sensors in linux (Debian) did not detect my fan. I didn't try slapping it into my windows PC since I had to squeeze this fan into a tiny SFF computer so I don't know if this is just lm-sensors being dumb or if there's something wrong with the onboard tachometer, or if there is none at all. I'm using the 3-pin connector directly off my mobo. Did not take off an egg for this since I'm not sure if there's a problem.

Other Thoughts: Overall, a great fan if you're looking for an 80mm fan that has some kick but is virtually silent. I would NOT recommend it for any situation where you need to move a fair amount of air. I've used several el cheapo 100mm fans that move a lot more, and they don't produce too much more noise. Smaller size was key for what I needed this fan for, and it fits the bill acceptably. If you're looking for a fan for a gaming rig/anything else where you're concerned about keeping things as cool as possible, go for larger fans when possible and if you need a 80mm fan, you'll want a noisier fan.

I used this fan and a Scythe SY124020L 40mm fan for the CPU to swap out stock fans in an older SFF computer I'm using as a NAS/Media server, noise level was cut down to just about nothing and while temperatures definitely went up, they're still perfectly acceptable at peak load after an hour or so (62c, 2.5Ghz Core2Duo). Now to fix that noisy PSU fan!
