3 out of 5 eggsthey are alright

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: the red is very crisp, no LEDs is what I like

Cons: these are 80mm fans, NOT 120 OR 140 I bought these too fast and didn't realize that they were 80mm till I got them. I want to return them but I don't want to pay return. bought 3 of these.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: cost, quiet

Cons: red

Other Thoughts: I like these for the cost and that they plug into a molex plug or a 3 pin case fan on your motherboard. I have 3 of them plugged into the power supply molex plugs and they are running full blast, and you can barely hear them. I would purchase these again.

4 out of 5 eggsToo loud for 15 dba

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Rated 32 cfm is close to actual , 15% variance so hovers around 1600 to 2000 rpm. Voltage ranges from 6 to 12 volts, included rubber feet and 4 pin connector. Voltage modded to 7 volts getting me 12 to 15 dba actual now fans are perfectly silent

Cons: Fans are rated at 15 dba meaning suppose to be quiet rural night time. Which these fans are not, should be rated at 25dba to 30dba @ 12 volts, took extra work to mod these to quiet 12 dba @ 7 volts

Pros: Quiet and no issues or burn out yet.

Cons: I wish they had just a bit higher CFM. Alas, physics.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent and decent air flow

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: I used this inside of an Evercool hd cooling bay (5.25" bay converter) and it was a perfect fit. I liked the red color too. It runs silent and keeps my hard drives perfectly cool. Always in the green.

Cons: None. Everything is quiet over here.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Quiet and moves quite a bit of air.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wanted a cooler case. The last 80mm fan I tried in the front was very noisy. I can't even hear this one. I bought this and it's 120mm big brother. Both are very quiet and move a whole lot of air. Dropped my internal case temperatures a few degrees.

3 out of 5 eggsOK fan

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Not the greatest case fan. Cools ok. Cheap. 3 stars.

Cons: Doesn't cool all that well and you can get better for the price.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Very quiet for my use.

Cons: Any fan would be better if it put out more CFM at a lower DB

Other Thoughts: I can't hear 2 of them over my other fans. wish they moved more air, but you can't really fight physics.

2 out of 5 eggsGood...and Bad

This review is from: SilenX EFX-08-15 80mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Build quality looks quite good. Frame and fan are both quite sturdy. While running there is no vibration nor any electronics noise. The addition of both regular screws and isolation mounts (rubber screws) is a nice plus. Since I'm not a windowed case user it's nice to have the molex pigtailed so neither connector option ever gets lost.

Cons: I'm amazed that so few find these fans have a definite whine while running at the standard 12v. I bought both the EFX-08-15 (15db) and the EFX-08-12 (12db) versions thinking the 12 would be absolutely silent while the 15, if I strained hard enough, might have just a faint noise. Unfortunately I was surprised that both offer up blade induced airflow whining noise surpassing that of my purported 18db and 24db fans running at 12v.

Other Thoughts: Sadly I have to rate these SilenX fans low as my main reason for buying them was the claim of being quiet. While the airflow is greater than expected so is the noise.

The Linkworld FAN-8-2 80mm fans I bought here about 2 weeks prior for 1/3 the price (multi-discount) are rated 30db @2600 RPM but are much quieter when comparing airflow noise. Unfortunately they do have an ever so slight ticking noise and less airflow than the SilenX. I was expecting to under-volt the Linkworld fans for near silent use but they are quiet enough out of the box at 12v albeit a bit airflow challenged.
