5 out of 5 eggsquiet

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: it is super quiet. i put these on my radiator and it cools well even without having a high static pressure. These fans get the job done and are still super quiet. i also am thinking of getting more of these fans for and intake and exhaust on my case

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Good Price, Newegg Rocks

Cons: Bought several of these fans for my Antec P180 case. I was wanting more silence than performance. The fans are too loud for my taste. Its not a woosh or whine sound, but more of a chatter of something being unbalanced. Like a baseball card in a bike's wheel. Its very annoying. I will be replacing these with another vendor.

5 out of 5 eggsGood case fan

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Flows good amount of air and keeps components cool, quiet.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Have used these fans for many years now with no issues. Still running after 2+ years and for how quiet it is, it does flow good amount of air.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent with controller

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: -High CFM even at low speeds.
-Good pressure characteristics even at low speeds.
-Works well in any orientation.
-Bought 3 plus 1 red LED version, no problems with any of them.

Cons: -At max speed this is not a silent fan by any means. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: At full speed, these fans are a bit loud. I don't think the 15dba rating is very accurate. On the up side, they move a lot of air for the noise level and do not make an irritating sound. Mostly moving air.

Subjectively, they seem to offer quite a bit of air flow AND good static pressure even down to ~40% speed with my NZXT controller. I set up a screen cage with some air conditioner filter for my side intakes. It's not all that restrictive, but my 230mm BitPheonix doesn't do nearly as well at lower speeds behind the filter. This fan doesn't seem to notice if the filter is on or not.

If you are not using a fan controller and want a very quiet fan, try the yellow version. I have not. If you are looking for a radiator or heatsink fan, I would still get a specialized high pressure design, but this would work better than other standard case fans I've used.

3 out of 5 eggsDO NOT USE THE RUBBER

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Quiet

Cons: The stupid rubber pegs or whatever they call them to install and supposedly get rid of rattle or who knows what SUCK! They will shear off after about 6 months and cause the fan to fall off. Which in my case, fried my motherboard. Annoying!

5 out of 5 eggsBest fans I've seen for the price

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: These are good looking fans, and they are quiet while still having decent airflow. They aren't sleeve bearing so can be mounted vertically or horizontally. No LED's!

Cons: none so far

5 out of 5 eggsThese fans are THE best bang for buck.

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: I bought two of these fans to replace an outdated sleeve fan that I used previously in my last build, and fill in an open slot on the top to provide more ventilation. These fans have absolutely showed heat who is the boss, dropping my temps on my motherboard, graphics card, and VRM by nearly 10 Celsius! I currently have one pulling air in on the front, which is doing a fantastic job of keeping my hard drive nice and frosty. The one on the top is making sure that no hot air pockets exist next to my CPU and ram. Both of these are doing these jobs fantastically by producing hardly any noise AT ALL. The noise is literally almost non-existent, especially during gaming and just casual use. The rubber mounts are also a really nice bonus. They weren't too hard to install with. You just have to know how to do it haha. They are also a little hefty, which is quite nice.

Cons: None at all, other than that there isn't a black fan color option haha. For what you're paying for these fans though, I'd take them in any color haha.

Other Thoughts: I hesitated to buy these fans for a while because I thought that they would've been cheap. Well, I was dead wrong. I really wish that I had acted earlier. Don't keep contemplating on whether or not to buy these fans. Just buy them!

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet and really moves air

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: Fairly quiet. Not totally silent like the 12 db fans by this company, but still much quieter than most fans.
This thing moves air! Very good airflow considering how little sound it makes.
I switched the original Zalman fan that came with my liquid cooler with this fan, and the cpu temp dropped 10 degrees Celsius under full load. I couldn't believe it either; how can changing a single fan make such a huge difference? Now I have better cooling with less noise. I strongly recommend this fan.

Cons: Slight humming noise when running. It's very slight, and probably only noticeable if all your other fans are already SilenX. It's a fair trade-off for the amount of air this fan moves though.

Other Thoughts: Shout-out to their customer support here. I contacted SilenX directly when this fan seemed a little louder than I anticipated (my expectations were set a little too high after using some of their 12 db fans). They sent me another fan in three days for five dollars, and did not ask for the original fan back.
With good customer support and good products, what's not to love?

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed

This review is from: SilenX EFX-12-15 120mm Effizio Quiet Case Fan

Pros: These fans are pretty impressive. The red color is a very nice darker red and will look good in many themed systems. The fan is incredibly silent, and I've owned some many higher end, much more expensive fans. They move a lot of air, especially considering the price they are and their volume level. They'll do well in any case.

Cons: The silicone mounts are useful, as case mounts. But are pretty hard in some installation spots. It's definitely easier to install the mounts to your mounting location first. Then trying to feed the tab into the fan screw hole, and pulling it through until it's all the way in.

Also, the MOLEX connector may be useful to some, but it's cumbersome in my application. Luckily, the 4-pin MOLEX power is an extension of the 3-pin. So I was able to cut off the connector and use electrical tape, so it fits without any clutter.

Other Thoughts: The fans are beautiful, but I had one with a minor defect in the paint. Not noticeable, really.

The cables are not braided, but they are all together in a black sleeve-type closure. They look nice. All the way up into the motor.

At the end of the day, an absolutely great value.
