StarTech's FANP1003LD CPU cooler fan is designed to provide optimal heat removal and dissipation without excess noise. Utilizing a combination of a 50mm high-efficiency brushless ball bearing fan and a large aluminum heatsink, the cooler moves 8.84CFM of air at a relatively quiet 28 dBA. Its light 81 gram weight, and compact size allow it to fit into even the most crowded enclosures and without causing weight stress to the motherboard.

The FANP1003LD is designed to cool a variety of CPUs – both Intel and AMD. It supports socket 7 Pentiums, and socket 370 (PPGA) Celerons. It is compatible with AMD K6, K6-2 and Cyrix chips as well. A 3-lead TX3 connector plugs directly into the motherboard to provide power to the fan as well as allowing the system to monitor and control the fan's speed and operational status. A 4-pin LP4 adapter is also included to allow maximum flexibility in installation and compatibility with on-board power supplies.

Pros: Adjustable height on clip or reverse tab to avoid capacitors.
Comes with small pouch of thermal grease.
Quiet.

Cons: No instructions.
Thermal grease not labeled well. I first thought it was a moisture packet.

Other Thoughts: I was happy that it came with thermal grease and that I could flip the tab lock around. No issues on the first computer but my second one had the capacitor right in the way for where you pushed down on the lock. Also, I bought two of these and there was enough grease in one pouch for more than ten computers.

Pros: I bought 2 of these for an older Dell server. Work well when they're up to it.

Cons: I can already tell that one of the fans is starting to lock-up. The server isn't on 24/7. Replacement fans go for dirt cheap these days. Just wish I didn't have to buy one so soon!

Pros: More than adequate heat sink, inexpensive, included thermal paste (good enough for a Celeron).

Cons: A little louder than I expected, but nothing unbearable.

Other Thoughts: Bought to replace loud fan on computer upgraded to a Celeron 533Mhz.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm glad they still sell these.

Pros: I've had this cooler on two different socket 7 chips; a Cyrix 266 and an AMD k6-2 500 with both at stock speeds. It cooled them well and it will undoubtedly cool a AMD k6-III + (the fastest socket 7 processor ever made) when I can get my hands on one.

Cons: I don't plan on doing any overclocking with this but I doubt anyone would get very much out of such old chips anyway.

Other Thoughts: I threw some Arctic Silver 5 on the processors instead of the thermal compound it came with.
