1 out of 5 eggsHas to work its' way up to be called Junk

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: got one star only because cant give less.

Cons: pins were already in "seated" position. have to pull them out but the clips that the pins push in were all bent outward. These rate below Junk in my book.

2 out of 5 eggsJust terrible

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: It runs and keeps the Core2Duo processor cool

Cons: It has a terrible 3 pin connector and is a pain to mount. It took 15 minutes of struggling to get it to seat correctly, and even then it seems stressed at only corner.

Other Thoughts: Its quiet but at the same time it cools on par with the smaller stock cooler.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: It's quiet for the most part
Didnt really perform much better than a stock cooler

Cons: Super loud on start up.

Could hear a tapping noise coming from it but its the design of the product. Im sure they will all do it.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd for refund

4 out of 5 eggsdecent cooler

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: Cheap. Fast shipping.
I wrote a review earlier, wanted to change it.
I turned of all my case fans and did notice some chatter from the cpu fan. its really noticeable on startup cuz the rpms shoot up on the fan. but even after start up you can still hear some chatter. other than that its relatively quiet. Idles around 38-40C. Switched from Thermaltake typhoon cuz it was so big and i needed room for other reasons. My typhoon idled around 33-35C but this thing will do for now

Cons: Push pins. Dont like them. Prefer screws

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: Idles 31C. Hasnt seen over 41C YET.
Fast shipping. Quiet!

Cons: None. Does deduct an egg but push pins arent that great of a design if u ask me. They work, dont get me wrong. I Just prefer screws.

4 out of 5 eggsfan section is Removeable for CLEANING

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: After running about a year my CPU temperature started climbing during high load processes (video encoding/decoding). I found that you can lift the fan section from the heat sink section and then use a vacuum cleaner to remove accumulated dust off of the heat sink fins. After you clean off the fins you just snap the fan section back on and watch your CPU temperature drop. I got 10degC lower temperature by cleaning heat sink fins.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: fan noise - not too bad.
Overall rating of 4 because it does the job at a low cost.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent cooler

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: -Cheap
-Nice, fat heatsink
-Fan cools extremely well, pretty dang high CFM

Cons: -Little loud for a small cylinder fan like this, I have a thermaltake one that is probably 50% quieter
-Large dead zone on heatsink makes fan louder
-Processor contact area has machined ribs that need to be lapped out.

Other Thoughts: Keeps my LGA775 Pentium 4 3.0Ghz at a healthy 23C idle! This is in an 18C ambient temp.

To install it you have to unlock the plastic tabs, lift them up, then turn them again to lock them, then press the heatsink onto the board, then press the locks down. A bit more confusing than my other 775 fans, but it works nicely and didn't break!

3 out of 5 eggsIffy at best

This review is from: StarTech.com 95mm Socket T 775 CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink Cooling FAN775E (Black)

Pros: It's huge, it cools a lot and it's def a good deal beefier then most at it's pricepoint for airflow. It also comes with a "syringe" of cooling flux to apply at will.

Cons: the clips it uses. the fan and clips are plastic, and the twist nob thumb screw method is def not good for tight areas and only 3 of the 4 really seem to secure on the board. And there is no backplate to anchor it to.

Other Thoughts: I haven't fired up the board with this so I don't know how great the cooling power is, but, we'll see soon enough. Definetly install on the board before the board is in a narrow or smaller case if possible.
