5 out of 5 eggsGreat heat sink+fan

This review is from: StarTech.com 60x65mm Socket A CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink for AMD Duron or Athlon - FanDURONTB (Black)

Pros: Fan blows nice amount of air.
Cooler is a decent size.

Cons: Wish the fan blew a bit more, but honestly it's fine the way it is. I wouldn't want it to get noisey.

I actually bought this for a vintage super socket 7 build. Socket A coolers are the bomb for socket 7 chips.

This one needed slight modding. Needed to dremel part of the clip on one side.
And grind down the block a few mm to clear a power cap on the mother board.

Works great now.

Other Thoughts: In case anyone runs into the same thing I ran into... the board I'm running is a Gigabyte GA-5AX rev 5.2

4 out of 5 eggsno thermal grease included

This review is from: StarTech.com 60x65mm Socket A CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink for AMD Duron or Athlon - FanDURONTB (Black)

Pros: quiet thus far. I had StarTech products before. their Hard drive drawers are nothing but junk from China.

Easy to install. we see if this product can hold its ground.

Cons: No thermal grease included. Ad says its pregreased. Its a lie.

5 out of 5 eggs(The real) Old Faithful

This review is from: StarTech.com 60x65mm Socket A CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink for AMD Duron or Athlon - FanDURONTB (Black)

Pros: I inadvertently filed this review for the Rosewill Socket A fan. This review is intended for the StarTech 60mm Socket A CPU fan.

Quiet. One of two Socket A fans still available on NewEgg (and the only one that fits).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is the same fan I ordered a replacement for (it lasted about two or so years so, not bad). Earlier I ordered the Rosewill fan which looked better but ended up returning because the heatsink bumped/bent into electronic parts attached around the socket. I should have ordered this one from the start. Finally some peace and quiet from the grind of the bearings going out on my other fan (same item ironically).

1 out of 5 eggsterrible

This review is from: StarTech.com 60x65mm Socket A CPU Cooler Fan with Heatsink for AMD Duron or Athlon - FanDURONTB (Black)

Pros: none

Cons: This device is not suitable for cooling a socket A, loud with a very high pitched whine

Other Thoughts: I wanted to fix up my old socket a, bring it back to stock and sell it, I even used my arctic silver on it... it idled at 72 in bios, and alarms went off in windows

athlon xp 3200
