5 out of 5 eggsGreat HD cooler

Pros: Keeps your hard drive very cool and does it very quietly.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I've had two of these running in a video editing system I build over two years ago and they are still running perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggssolid

Pros: Fan is great. The fan is silent at 100% just what I needed.

Not using the aluminum plate because I just wanted the fan and this cooler was cheaper than buy a 80mmx15mm fan.

The cooler does fit my harddrive and it did fit in my case.

Cons: Fan could be a little stronger but for silent operation and being that it is slim I choose not to know an egg of for this.

Other Thoughts: Great product Great price.

4 out of 5 eggsfan could be better

Pros: Inexpensive compared to the competition.

Just the ticket for a second drive in a case where only one drive gets good cooling.

Cons: Fan is very quiet, but mine makes a faint but distinct metallic chirping sound.

Fan is only 2-wire, no RPM sensing.

Make sure this arrangement will work in your case. This attaches to the bottom of the drive. If you use brackets to put the drive in a 5 1/4" drive bay, this will protrude into the bay below it.

Other Thoughts: The trick to working with this is to use a magnetic screwdriver. Otherwise it can be very frustrating.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks OK

Pros: Works OK......VERY easy to install....if you have the right case.

Cons: IMPOSSIBLE to install if you have an older case that requires screws. You will have to bend the tabs to get this in once installed on HD, as the tabs completely block the mounting screws for the fans. It is almost impossible to install this fan on a HD then install in a case that requires you to screw in the HD after it is inserted. I have a newer case with the HD rails that you simply put on the HD and slide into the case, and the fan installs BEAUTIFULLY in that case, but my wife unfortunately has an older case, so modifications were required. The HD in her case is not securely mounted and will probably never be with this fan.

Other Thoughts: I have two HDs in my system, 1 older model (2+ YO) and one I just bought. The older 1 is still registering high temps (42-46 degrees, which is only about 2 degrees less than b4 the fan). The newer one pretty much stays at 40 and below. Perhaps this is just due to the power consumption of my older as compared to my newer, but pretty disappointing, considering I bought this hoping to preserve whats left of my old HD. The unit really doesn't move much air, but enough to keep newer HDs cooler I guess.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but can be tricky

Pros: Lowered temperature of my raptor a bit.

Cons: A bit tricky to install depending on your case. I had to bend some parts in my case so that it would fit in the hdd slot.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Makes me feel good that I have some sort of aftermarket cooling on my hard drives. The raptor drives and my torrent storage drive used to get realy hot. Now, much better.

Cons: "Easy installation" Design my toosh. I wanted to strangle whoever designed the way you have to line up the screws. I eventually figured out to hold this horizontal, drop the screws in so they hang from the holes. Then slowly lower it into place and get them threaded so you can tighten them all down.

They make the hard drives that normally slide tight and comfy into my mid tower 3 1/2 bays fit really awkward / not at all. I ended up having to use a pair of pliars to bend back metal prongs so these would fit. But every realistically priced hdd cooler in this market has similar problems.

Other Thoughts: Case designs need to start considering people are going to have these on their hard drives. I am more satisified with this fan than a similar one I bought elsewhere.
