XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
The Xigmatek Stealth series
coolers make
use of advanced ceramic materials originally pioneered in the high-tech
aerospace and automotive industries. The ceramic coating features high
strength
and light weight and is specially formulated for
maximum thermal
conductivity making
it well suited for use in extreme temperature environments.
Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283
Nighthawk
Edition
The Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283
is the
world's first enthusiast cooler to utilize a modern ceramic coating and
was the
result of Xigmatek thermal engineers thinking outside the box. Xigmatek's
innovative
use of this space age material is not just for good looks - the ceramic
coating
along with Xigmatek's patented HDT
technology greatly
increases the efficiency of thermal transfer away from your CPU.
High Thermal Conductivity - The
increased thermal conductivity of the ceramic coating rapidly absorbs
and
removes heat from the CPU via the heatpipes.
Increased Cooling Area -
Traditional aluminum fins are not as effective conducting heat at the
outer
edges. The ceramic coating allows heat to rapidly spread over the
entire
surface of the cooling fins, reducing thermal hotspots and increasing
the
cooling area.
HDT - Xigmatek's
use of superior grade copper for the patented Heatpipe
Direct Touch technology places the performance enhanced heatpipe
directly against the hot CPU, increasing the effectiveness of removing
heat
from the source.

Performance As Good
As It Looks The Dark Knight SD1283 features
a high-tech
and stealthy matte black ceramic finish and is mated with a matching
smoke black
fan, giving it a unique presence. The effectiveness of the ceramic
coating
allows for reduced width fins resulting in an ultra-slim profile
making the Dark Knight
SD1283 well suited for either single or dual fan (push - pull)
configurations
that easily fits within the physical constraints of modern motherboard
designs. Performance testing between the
similar Dark
Knight SD1283 (ceramic) and GAIA SD1283 (non-ceramic) coolers indicates
a
performance increase of of up to 10% under
stock and
overclocked CPU speeds.
Specifications
First To
Innovate
Xigmatek
leads the market by continuing
to innovate in cooler design while the competition is satisfied with
rehashing
the same old technologies. Xigmatek was first to market with HDT and is
now
first to market with the use of advanced ceramic materials. Xigmatek:
We

This review is from: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
Pros: Coolers my CPU better than my H100i and this is much cheaper and quieter.
This review is from: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
Pros: 14c idle / 32c under heavy load (prime95 and Firestrike) (coretemp and HWmonitor)... 1st impressions was its light, Very light. I've owned evo 212+, Hyper N520, Zalman CNPS9900MAX-B, And this cooler has my temps lower than all of them with almost no weight to it. It fits perfectly in NZXT Guardian mid tower (clearance for most cases at only 4.6 in). Black looks great. You can use a push pull setup it includes extra rubber mounting for 2nd fan
Cons: Should have made the base black as well the chrome matches nothing in my rig.
White LED is very bright and doesn't match. Going to swap fan for a SP120 Blue led fan easy enough fix
Fins have to be bent to install fan with rubber screws, Mounting is weird but hey it works.
Other Thoughts: my temps are using mx4 tim and only fan provided, add a second fan for improved performance, I would buy this again in a heartbeat and will be using it in future builds as well ( I build around 4 per year)

Pros: grate cooling my i7 4790K, i can't say temps because mobo sensor is defective
Cons: bad mounting systems, especially for fans on heatsink
This review is from: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
Pros: Took my CPU (i7 4470K Stock) temperature from 155F under load with stock cooling to a cool 110F. A difference of 45F. Very impressed. The large fan on this processor is pointing upwards so I installed two additional 120mm fans at the top of my case to help blow out the heat and the CPU tempature has dropped again from 110F to 84F under load. I've never been a huge believer in after-market coolers but this has changed my mind.
Cons: The way the fan adheres to the heat sink is really questionable. You take the rubber mounting components which help silence vibration from the fan but they have you thread these through the mounting holes in the fan and WEDGE THEM BETWEEN THE FINS OF THE HEATSINK... The fins of the heatsink are aluminum and bend fairly easily. It works but I really question the reliability of a fan that is mounted by wedging rubber pieces in between aluminum fins.

Rating: 5/5Excellent thermal performance while being lightweight
This review is from: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
Pros: Big heatpipes allow fast heat transfer to the black ceramic coated fins that makes heat travel more efficiently but also makes the heatsink much lighter. It cools a bit better than the Hyper 212 EVO.
Cons: The coated fins are easily flexible and mounting fans with the included rubber screws are a bit fustrating but it helps a lot getting rid of the vibrations.

This review is from: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
Pros: large dc heat pipes work better than cm 212 black coating matches my black/white color scheme great cooling on fx 8320 4.5GHz @ 1.3825v
Cons: stock fan is LOUD Im convinced the ceramic coating is a gimmick but i like the aesthetics weird mounting system fins are easily bent
Other Thoughts: get it, i own the cm 212 evo and this is so much better
This review is from: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
Pros: first of all it looks amazing. It also does a very good job of keeping my fx-8150 cool at stock frequencies it would peak at 53c under full load, very comparable to the hyper 212 evo.
Cons: The price. simply put the evo will do the same job at a cheaper price, possibly better. So the extra 20 bucks is just for the style mostly. but i don't know if that can be called a con because it does look amazing
Other Thoughts: Its fairly large so make sure it fits in your case. also the mounting solution is somewhat difficult to understand, although it does a good job of keeping it in place.

This review is from: XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler with Stealth Aerospace Industry Thermal conductive ceramic coating LGA1150 Haswell Compatible
Pros: This is such a great cooler. No wonder it was sold out for so long. Keeps my AMD FX-6300 6-core (AM3+) between 14-25 degrees Celsius. Ice cold. Very easy installation. Another great Pro to this cooler is that its compatible with a lot of socket types.
Cons: Instruction manual sucks.
Other Thoughts: Watch a YouTube guide on how to install it. Its super simple once you understand how its supposed to be done. took me about 10 minutes to install it.

Pros: Looks good! Fan mounts are a unique style of rubber pegs. Included fan is reasonably quiet, provided it stays under 1,900Rpm. Bright LEDs. So far it's about 5C cooler than my Reserator 3 Max was. (See other here)
Cons: Directions took a couple looks over to get right. The H.D.T. could be continuous (See CM Hyper 212 EVO for this). Radiator fins are EASILY bent, especially considering the type of fan mounts included. But they also bend back just as easily.
Other Thoughts: So far, it's a very capable cooler. Right after install, I ran an hour of Prime95 and the temps never went above 35C, according to HWiNFO64. (Running an FX6300 @ 3.8GHz) It's currently outperforming my Zalman Reserator 3 Max, but I also switched from Arctic Silver 5 to Arctic MX-2.
