The Xigmatek Stealth series coolers make use of advanced ceramic materials originally pioneered in the high-tech aerospace and automotive industries. The ceramic coating features high strength and light weight and is specially formulated for maximum thermal conductivity making it well suited for use in extreme temperature environments.

Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283 Nighthawk Edition

The Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283 is the world's first enthusiast cooler to utilize a modern ceramic coating and was the result of Xigmatek thermal engineers thinking outside the box.  Xigmatek's innovative use of this space age material is not just for good looks - the ceramic coating along with Xigmatek's patented HDT technology greatly increases the efficiency of thermal transfer away from your CPU.

  • High Thermal Conductivity - The increased thermal conductivity of the ceramic coating rapidly absorbs and removes heat from the CPU via the heatpipes.
  • Increased Cooling Area - Traditional aluminum fins are not as effective conducting heat at the outer edges. The ceramic coating allows heat to rapidly spread over the entire surface of the cooling fins, reducing thermal hotspots and increasing the cooling area.
  •  HDT - Xigmatek's use of superior grade copper for the patented Heatpipe Direct Touch technology places the performance enhanced heatpipe directly against the hot CPU, increasing the effectiveness of removing heat from the source.

  • Advanced ceramic material coating for dramatic thermal dissipation performance
  • Matte black design creates a uniquely stealthy look and feel
  • Utilizes Xigmatek's patented HDT (Heatpipe Direct Touch) Technology and superior grade copper material heatpipes
  • 160mm side cooling tower configuration
  • Ultra-slim profile capable of mounting single (push) or dual (push-pull)120mm fan configurations; works with the majority of current motherboard designs
  • Includes Xigmatek's Universal Mounting Kit compatible with Intel LGA Socket 755, 1155, 1156, 2011 and AMD Socket K8 / AM2 / AM3
Performance As Good As It Looks
The Dark Knight SD1283 features a high-tech and stealthy matte black ceramic finish and is mated with a matching smoke black fan, giving it a unique presence. The effectiveness of the ceramic coating allows for reduced width fins resulting in an ultra-slim profile  making the Dark Knight SD1283 well suited for either single or dual fan (push - pull) configurations that easily fits within the physical constraints of modern motherboard designs.
Performance testing between the similar Dark Knight SD1283 (ceramic) and GAIA SD1283 (non-ceramic) coolers indicates a performance increase of of up to 10% under stock and overclocked CPU speeds.

First To Innovate
Xigmatek leads the market by continuing to innovate in cooler design while the competition is satisfied with rehashing the same old technologies. Xigmatek was first to market with HDT and is now first to market with the use of advanced ceramic materials. Xigmatek: We Innovate.

4 out of 5 eggsMINT

Pros: Keeps cpu cool
Can be silent
AMAZING finish

Cons: Can be quite loud
PITA to work with in some cases

Other Thoughts: If you get the right fans, this thing can be dead silent.
If not, its loud as hell, but thats the fans problem.

Its a PITA to work on this thing (switching fans, etc) and even trying to get the fans on if you do not take it out of the case. Im only using a thermaltake commander, but its still a tight squeeze. Keeps my 7850k under 70 degrees tho..

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Keeps my fx 6300 running cool.
Looks awesome.
Installation was simple and straightforward.

Cons: Attaching the fan to the heatsink with the little rubber things was a pita.

Other Thoughts: Be sure you take the measurements into account. This thing is fairly tall.

4 out of 5 eggsKeeps my cpu reading cool but fan needs improvement

Pros: -Plenty of parts
-Pictures to give idea whats going on
-Keeps cool
-4 pin cpu fan

Cons: -Not the quietest fan I will probably need to get a different one since at idle and 23C the fan still is hearable
-directions could have been better since they have 3 versions listed on the manual
-found final tie down a bit arduous as I had one side in the notch and it took time to get the notches and screws to go into place.

Other Thoughts: Not xigmateck's fault, but being round doesn't help me place it on the balance pad my temjin case had built in

4 out of 5 eggsDK-II

Pros: Excellent tower cooler, at the time it was on sale for 35$.
WIth a second fan - 3770k, 4.4ghz, 85c in prime95

Cons: LOUD
The stock fan is loud. Even at low speeds it has a distinct sound.

Other Thoughts: I ended up selling it to a friend and buying a kraken x60, which only got me 100 mhz more at the same temps.

If you buy this and its to loud, consider getting a quiet 4 pin fan.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat First Heatsink

Pros: Aesthetics - It looks awesome, if you're someone that takes aesthetics into account when purchasing components this won't disappoint.

"Simple" installation - At least for my Intel i5, installation was pretty straight forward, especially for someone whos never installed a heatsink and going by video tutorials on Youtube I found it quite simple.

Cool - If you don't know already, this thing keeps things very chill. I don't overclock, but my i5 3570K stays under 50C at all times, even at full load. Gaming it'll never go over 45C. I don't even have to run it at full fan speed and it stays cold.

LED Fan - I like it, but you may not.

Somehwhat Big - Although I had no clearance issues in my case, nor with my RAM which have high rise heat spreaders.

Cons: None that I can think of, the thermal paste is sketchy and you'd probably be better off going with a third party paste if you're not already.

Other Thoughts: My PC:

NZXT Phantom 410
MSI ZH77a-G43
Intel i5 3570K @Stock
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz
Sapphire R9 280X
Seasonic M12II

5 out of 5 eggsgreat coolingsolution

Pros: does a really great job with the cooling and the looks of it is just gorgeous. was easy to install

Cons: the led on the fan is to bright for me and the fan didn't perform too well and the fan is also too loud

Other Thoughts: exchange the fan to a noctua nf-f12 and this cooler is hard to beat.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible installation

Pros: Heatsink itself seems well made. Good looking design.

Cons: Could not install backplate into my motherboard because one of the screw holes was not threaded properly. Because of this I could not mount the heatsink to my motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I will NEVER buy another Xigmatek product again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU Cooler

Pros: I have had this heatsink now for almost two years. It works great with my i7. I don't overclock much, but at full load it keeps the CPU under 50C.

Cons: No cons I can think of. Instructions suck but what's new? Find a video on youtube for step by step process.

Other Thoughts: It is very very big, make sure you have enough space in your case.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good for the Price 4.5 eggs

Pros: 1) It looks amazing.
2) It's very cool at Idle, 19c on a fx-8150 that's below room temp.
2.5) It's cool at stock frequencies 45c on full load. Which is a 10 degree drop from the stock heatsink fan.
3) It fits in my corsair 650D
4) It's darn quite even at full load and fan speed. This is probably a con too but I'll address that later.
5) Did I mention that it looks amazing? because it does.
6) I was able to put it in without taking my motherboard out.

Cons: 1) the fan wont spin faster than 2200 RPM. I wish it spun faster to move more air. but it's really quite so its hardly a con.
2)When overclocking it has a hard time keeping cool so even though my fx-8150 is stable at 4.5 Ghz and 4.3 Ghz and 4.2 I had to dial it back because the sink had a hard time keeping it under 60c at load.
3) the instructions are impossible to understand.
4) It's very large but I have no problem with this. Just worth noting.
5) the rubber mounts of the fan are hard to get on but I guess they keep the noise down.
6) With and amd processor the heat pipe direct contact is a stupid design because the vertical hot spot of the CPU is missed by the heat pipes; still cools very well.

Other Thoughts: The reason I took one egg off is a combination of a lot of little things: the cons listed above. But I almost feel bad, I think it deserves 4.5 eggs.

The LEDs are cool but kind of weird to look at directly they look better from afar. It's still nice to have the LEDs in the case.

I don't know how I feel about the coating. It might be a gimmick but it's whatever because it looks amazing. I'm curious to see if anyone has done testing after removing the coating.

The temps I listed should go down because the break in time on arctic silver 5 is 200 hours.

5 out of 5 eggsA very cool looking CPU cooler

Pros: Does its job, keeping my CPU nice and cool.
The only CPU cooler that actually looks cool in a black finished computer design that isn't over 50 bucks.

Cons: costs about 50 bucks.
Fans LED lights are not that great, if you have the money, I suggest using an LED strip in the case, and buying new fans or disabling the LED lights in the included fan.
