The Xigmatek Stealth series coolers make use of advanced ceramic materials originally pioneered in the high-tech aerospace and automotive industries. The ceramic coating features high strength and light weight and is specially formulated for maximum thermal conductivity making it well suited for use in extreme temperature environments.

Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283 Nighthawk Edition

The Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283 is the world's first enthusiast cooler to utilize a modern ceramic coating and was the result of Xigmatek thermal engineers thinking outside the box.  Xigmatek's innovative use of this space age material is not just for good looks - the ceramic coating along with Xigmatek's patented HDT technology greatly increases the efficiency of thermal transfer away from your CPU.

  • High Thermal Conductivity - The increased thermal conductivity of the ceramic coating rapidly absorbs and removes heat from the CPU via the heatpipes.
  • Increased Cooling Area - Traditional aluminum fins are not as effective conducting heat at the outer edges. The ceramic coating allows heat to rapidly spread over the entire surface of the cooling fins, reducing thermal hotspots and increasing the cooling area.
  •  HDT - Xigmatek's use of superior grade copper for the patented Heatpipe Direct Touch technology places the performance enhanced heatpipe directly against the hot CPU, increasing the effectiveness of removing heat from the source.

Features
  • Advanced ceramic material coating for dramatic thermal dissipation performance
  • Matte black design creates a uniquely stealthy look and feel
  • Utilizes Xigmatek's patented HDT (Heatpipe Direct Touch) Technology and superior grade copper material heatpipes
  • 160mm side cooling tower configuration
  • Ultra-slim profile capable of mounting single (push) or dual (push-pull)120mm fan configurations; works with the majority of current motherboard designs
  • Includes Xigmatek's Universal Mounting Kit compatible with Intel LGA Socket 755, 1155, 1156, 2011 and AMD Socket K8 / AM2 / AM3
Performance As Good As It Looks
The Dark Knight SD1283 features a high-tech and stealthy matte black ceramic finish and is mated with a matching smoke black fan, giving it a unique presence. The effectiveness of the ceramic coating allows for reduced width fins resulting in an ultra-slim profile  making the Dark Knight SD1283 well suited for either single or dual fan (push - pull) configurations that easily fits within the physical constraints of modern motherboard designs.
Performance testing between the similar Dark Knight SD1283 (ceramic) and GAIA SD1283 (non-ceramic) coolers indicates a performance increase of of up to 10% under stock and overclocked CPU speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This thing is extremely high performance! Keeps my fx- 8350 frosty cold at 21 degrees Celsius idle and 39 degrees Celsius under full load! Very quiet and great looking with the black coloring and LED.

Cons: The installation was pretty bad and vague.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good!

Pros: Noise - There is little to no noise on the fan. Although over 40% it is audible, but that's understandable.

Temps - Very good in keeping my CPU nice and cool! Noticed a 5-10 degree Celsius difference compared to my old CPU cooler.

Looks very nice too! Love the LEDs on the fan.

Cons: Size - Barely fit my Thermaltake v9! Make sure your case is big enough so this bad boy can fit in.

Installation was a pain, and the instructions weren't the greatest. Went on YouTube to find an install guide and it all worked out good!

Other Thoughts: It doesn't say I'm a verified owner 'cause I got this off of a different site. But I can swear that I own it and I've seen how much of an improvement this is over my old CPU cooler (CM Hyper TX3).

4 out of 5 eggsJet Engine Fan

Pros: Great Cooling, Somewhat easy install

Cons: Stock Fan sounded like a Jet engine, had to swap it out for a different one I had, not exactly sure what the issue was. Otherwise it works fine

Other Thoughts: Kept my Tempatures at 45 maxxing at 65c when using it on my slightly overclocked 65w A6 5400k APU would buy again if it was on sale otherwise the Hyper 212 EVO is just about as good.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Cooler

Pros: -Very sleek design.
-Keeps my CPU (FX-6300) nice and frosty, haven't overclocked it yet but it idles at 15C and maxes out around 40C.
-On my motherboard, ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0, it doesn't block any of the RAM slots, which is always nice even though I don't have tall RAM.
-LED fan is pretty fancy looking.

Cons: -Instructions suck, took me 30 minutes to get it mounted, but this was also my first time installing any type of aftermarket heatsink so that could be part of it.
-Mounting the fan is a pain. Getting the rubber mounts through the fan holes is one thing, but then getting them in between the fins without bending them and keeping them level with each other is just ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: Other than the distillation issues, this is an amazing CPU cooler, especially at the price. Buy it now.

5 out of 5 eggsFrosty but a PITA to install

Pros: Keeps my 2500k nice n cool under load. Color blends well with my z77 Extreme6. Xigmatek is known for churning out quality products.

Cons: The fan that came with this cooler was defective, upon installation I noticed some vibration coming from the cooler. I had a spare fan that to my surprise was the exact same one that came with this cooler. Installed the spare and problem solved.

Utube the installation cause its a PITA!!

Other Thoughts: I have purchased many Xigmatek fans/coolers and this is the first time I have encountered an issue, therefore there is no need to knock an egg.

2500k @ 4.5Ghz and I have yet to see it break 65c running large FFT's.

5 out of 5 eggsHad to purchase elsewhere while waiting for this one

Pros: Solid heat dissipation keeps my CPU temps cool even under load. Worked great on a C32 4234 opteron in a full tower case. As I have not really done any comparison testing with other cooling. I am still nonetheless quite happy. Read Cons however as there are cons not related to the product itself. (I had to purchase item at another location as I have not yet received it from UPS, this is all on them)

Cons: UPS SUCKS. They allegedly attempted delivery and the next day (today 3/29) claimed the package was held at the sort facility due to the holiday while simultaneously delivering a package that was due today. As the build was needed today for a client I had to out of time and expense go pick one up locally, which was a long drive to find one available. I strongly recommend if you need ANY parts go with Fedex over UPS.

Other Thoughts: Avoid UPS if you urgently need stuff on time. I also recommend Newegg review how they handle business with UPS as well. This can cost a company thousands or even millions if A single screw up on UPS end if you are using what you buy on Newegg for profit. And time is money. I had to file a complaint at the highest levels of management and in the end their regional shipping manager told me essentially sorry cant do nothing wait till Monday. I have not had this bad fortune with FedEx which is where my business is going moving forward. Oh and the alleged excuse was good Friday. I have one package I got on good Friday but another did not arrive because of good Friday??! This is by their own admission.

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps My Cpu Frosty :D

Pros: Amazing Cpu Cooler
Cheap (in a good way)
Nice looks.

Cons: The instructions are horrible, youtube is your best bet, I used this one --> /watch?v=u5UYc2qGyJU (type youtube before the slash). Even though he uses a mini ITX motherboard the concept is the same. The fan installation was horrendous. However:

NOW BEFORE YOU INSTALL IT READ THIS!!!!

Install the rubber clips onto the heat sink BEFORE you attach it to the fan. It will make your life SOOOO much easier and you have less of a chance of bending the pins.

Other Thoughts: Has performance that rivals an h100 yet is less than half of an h100's price. (Teksyndicate made a video for this, I tested my i5-3570k and got practically the same results, give or take 1-2 degrees). I overclocked my i5-3570k with the stock heat paste that came with the dark knight II and got 60 degrees while running prime95. It went up to around 65 degrees after a few hours of prime95.

There is pretty much NO reason to skimp out and get an evo 212, on sale this cpu cooler is around $30, and flat out beats most water coolers.

Don't believe me? Google teksyndicate's review for this cpu cooler, I bought this after watching his video and I'm very glad I did.

4 out of 5 eggsB+

Pros: Relatively small, decent price, good cooling for size

Cons: Chinglish instructions, mickey mouse mounting system

Other Thoughts: Got this to replace my old CNPS10 Extreme. Surprised at same temp profile using Prime95 although cooler is a bit smaller. No gain, was hoping for better. Dual fans on it didn't seem to matter. My 3570 at 4.0Ghz ran at 94F idle and 188F loaded with either cooler. Instructions require some interopolation and assumptions. Maybe it would run cooler if I did paste the thing on? Good cooler but not top shelf.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good cooling capacity over the stock cooler

Cons: A little heavy and did not include the best installation instructions

Other Thoughts: I would buy it again.
