3 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. Needed this for my Xigmatek Balder when I upgraded to an i7-2700k and 1155 motherboard.

Cons: Confusing documentation by Xigmatek. The original bracket that came with my balder heatsink says it fits i5/i7 1156 and in some spots says also 1155...so I thought I was all set. Turned out that there are different sizes and I had to order this and wait to put together all of my new stuff. Researching this to figure out that this was definitely what I needed was a huge pain, because the support sockets basically says the same thing as the one I already had. It'll say 1155 in the title but nowhere in the description is socket 1155 mentioned.

Other Thoughts: If you upgraded to a newer 1155 socket, this IS the one you need for your xigmatek heatsink.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Very strong for a tiny little part. You'll have no concern over your heat sink being firmly secured to the motherboard if you install this correctly.

Cons: No manual. Packaging directs you to website for PDF. Would recommend doing that for the better pictures. There are two completely different official ways to mount this, but only one way will be right given your platform.

It's a given: If your case didn't come with a motherboard back-pane access cutout you'll have to dismount the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: The mounting is officially for LGA 1366 and other older sockets. Still it worked for my HDT-S1284EE on LGA 1155/1156 by tilting it 5 degrees clockwise which sounds like a hack but it's actually quite sturdy.

5 out of 5 eggsMy fault

Pros: Should work with all the heatsinks listed as compatible

Cons: Does not work with the old Xigmatek S1283.

Other Thoughts: I pulled a bonehead move and google searched for the deactivated page for the Xigmatek 1283 and under the "shopper's insight" which is subtitled as "See what other informed Newegg customers purchased after viewing this product". So i blindly added it to my cart and went on purchasing my new computer.

I rated this a 5 egg for Xigmatek, but I would rate Newegg's deceptive "shopper's insight" 0 out of 5 eggs

4 out of 5 eggsminimal instructions

Pros: nice secure fit
made my XIGMATEK cobra - d984 92mm HYPRO compatible with an H67 set-up
i5-2400 in hot room idles @ 35C in CM 341 Elite mATX case.

Cons: instructions are non-existent and looking at pics on box and web-site is not any better.
better have a dual side panel removing case or will have to remove motherboard.

Other Thoughts: need literature with something more in detail for newbies..
should come standard with all HS/F so by default should lower price.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Works great with the Cobra on my ASRock H67M. I've successfully removed and reinstalled the cooler once with no problem, but your mileage may vary depending on the case.

Cons: Bit of a pain to get at the two under the extended portion of the Cobra, but manageable. Wish it came with the cooler!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat looking Heatsink

Pros: This thing looks amazing. It fits into my nMedia 5000b HTPC case, havn't got into over clocking but my 2500k core i5 idles in the mid 30s. Fantastic for a case with 60mm fans on it.

Cons: I bought this for an lga1155 platform along with the metal crossbow adapter bracket:

You need to access the backside of the motherboard to install the crossbow - in some cases you'll need to remove the whole motherboard. However, once installed this heatsink is rock solid - WAY more secure than the plastic mounts on my Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 from Artic cooler.

Other Thoughts: nMedia 5000b HTPC
ASUS Maximus IV
Intel Core i5 2500k
4GB Mushkin ram 1333mhz
Cooler Master 600w Silent Pro PSU

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Inexpensive, let me mount my Xigmatek HDT-S1284EE to my Asus P8P67 Pro mobo, to cool my Core i5 2500k and not drop more $ on a new cooler. Temps are very acceptable, about 32C at idle (keeping in mind ambient temp in my room is around 25-26C) and <50 when playing games (testing using Prime95 and Intel BurnTest push it higher but I really haven't seen any apps I run do that, at least not consistently).

Cons: Would have been great if it were free, but at the time I bought my HDT-S1284EE the 1155 processors weren't out yet (heck, the 1366 wasn't even out yet).

Other Thoughts: Air cooling does a great job of keeping a CPU at about 7C above ambient. Really, really good air coolers might drop to 6C above ambient.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU backplate!

Pros: Its hard metal. X-shaped and sturdy. This fits in P67 boards where the included backplate won't; for example the H50 liquid cooling system won't work on the ASROCK extreme 4 P67 mobo, if you use the included backplate. This is X-shaped so it will work.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: placing it can be tricky and the adhesive makes it so u can only do it once... be careful

5 out of 5 eggsworks awesome

Pros: clears all parts on motherboard, solid connectors, none of that pushpin/twisty intel stuff

Cons: had to take out the mb to install

Other Thoughts: would have been nice if the springs were already affixed to the screws
