Overview

The new Xigmatek XAF Series of 140mm system fans continues the company’s innovative design focus to provide advanced features and performance while maintaining excellent value to the end user. The innovative “waveform” shape of the fan blades on the XAF series aren’t just for show and provide real performance benefits. The XAF series also features a very high quality copper bearing system which extends the service life of the fan 50% over that of fans using regular ball or sleeve bearings.

Xigmatek XAF-F1452

A New Wave in Fan Design

The unique “waveform” fan blade shape of the XAF series fans were specifically designed to maximize airflow per revolution. The “waveform” shape, along with the minimized central hub, increases the surface area of each fan blade over traditional designs and delivers up to 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs over normal fan designs. Furthermore, unlike traditional fans which act like an air scoop, the irregularly shaped wave of air that forms in front of the “waveform” blade helps to reduce the collection of dust on the fan blade itself.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade designed for performance – The unique shape of the XAF series fan blades and the minimally sized central hub dramatically increases blade surface area and generates 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs to traditional fans. More airflow equals better cooling performance.

• Dramatically reduces dust collection – Traditional curved fan designs act like air scoops and over time they collect dust over the entire blade which increases air resistance and decreases performance. The unique “waveform” fan blade of the XAF series generates an irregularly shaped pressure wave in front of the fan blade which helps to reduce dust collection.

• High quality copper bearing for long life – The bearing is the heart of a fan system. Xigmatek’s use of superior grade copper materials for the bearing system ensures up to 50% longer service life than regular ball or sleeve bearing designs. Greater reliability gives you peace of mind for your PC system.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Fans!

Pros: These fans are Great! 140mm fan that can fit in a 120mm slot. Dead silent and pushes 90cfm at >18dBA. hands don the best fans ive ever owned for intake/exhaust. Not good for rads but i got these for the massive air flow at low dBA. Dropped my temps down 10 Celsius

Cons: Non other than price but worth it!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent.

Pros: I didn't believe it at first, but it does actually fit inside a space meant for a 120mm.
QUIET. As advertised, this thing is near silent. I can have my face up to where I have it installed and can barely hear it.
Feels like it is moving a good amount of air as well.

Cons: The cable is too short.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to be a front intake in a Phantom full tower, and the cable was hopelessly far away from the motherboard, needed about an extra 4 inches to actually reach a connector. Can't connect to the Phantom's fan controller, as it only takes 3 pin fans. Had to buy an extension cable.

3 out of 5 eggsSo so.

Pros: Big and stylish, I had no problems with aesthetics.
It didn't make a whole lot of noise either.

Cons: Extremely fragile. A not-too-rough bump to the side or top of the case and the fan just-about exploded shooting off broken fan blades to bounce around inside the case. This happened on 3 separate occasions, all different blades and different fans.
Don't know if this is a flaw in the case or the fan, or if they're just that delicate, so I'll knock off just 2 eggs for the catastrophic failure.

Other Thoughts: Had two of these under the roof of the case and was otherwise fairly pleased besides the hair trigger sensitivity to frag my computer

2 out of 5 eggsCable too short

Pros: Looks nice, solid construction, seems like a good fan, one of the few 140 to support PWM right now

Cons: Chord slightly too short

Other Thoughts: I just want another, oh, half inch to inch of chord. The chord just does not quite reach the fan slot in the back of my Cooler master case from my Gigabyte FF990 motherboard's 4-pin sys_fan_1 slot.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as quiet as expected

Pros: Large, stylish, fairly quiet

Cons: At $25 I had expected more. Although the paper specs indicate that it should push huge volumes of air, I think it may only do so if totally unrestricted. Once it's put behind a chassis grille the static pressure is low, and the air flow much less than expected. It is also noiser than I had hoped for too.

Other Thoughts: Good product, but probably not very good value at $25 each.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks cool, Quite performance, Long Life, PWM function.

Cons: They don't have much static pressure. My 120mm noiseblockers cool better at the same rpm. Don't even think about using it for your rad.

Other Thoughts: Akasa Viper 140mm fan AK-FN063 is currently the best 140mm fan on the market.
