The new Xigmatek XAF Series of 140mm system fans continues the company’s innovative design focus to provide advanced features and performance while maintaining excellent value to the end user. The innovative “waveform” shape of the fan blades on the XAF series aren’t just for show and provide real performance benefits. The XAF series also features a very high quality copper bearing system which extends the service life of the fan 50% over that of fans using regular ball or sleeve bearings.

Xigmatek XAF-F1453

A New Wave in Fan Design

The unique “waveform” fan blade shape of the XAF series fans were specifically designed to maximize airflow per revolution. The “waveform” shape, along with the minimized central hub, increases the surface area of each fan blade over traditional designs and delivers up to 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs over normal fan designs. Furthermore, unlike traditional fans which act like an air scoop, the irregularly shaped wave of air that forms in front of the “waveform” blade helps to reduce the collection of dust on the fan blade itself.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade designed for performance – The unique shape of the XAF series fan blades and the minimally sized central hub dramatically increases blade surface area and generates 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs to traditional fans. More airflow equals better cooling performance.

• Dramatically reduces dust collection – Traditional curved fan designs act like air scoops and over time they collect dust over the entire blade which increases air resistance and decreases performance. The unique “waveform” fan blade of the XAF series generates an irregularly shaped pressure wave in front of the fan blade which helps to reduce dust collection.

• High quality copper bearing for long life – The bearing is the heart of a fan system. Xigmatek’s use of superior grade copper materials for the bearing system ensures up to 50% longer service life than regular ball or sleeve bearing designs. Greater reliability gives you peace of mind for your PC system.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade design to dramatically increase airflow up to 20% over standard blade designs

• “Waveform” blade produces irregular air pressure wave at the front of the blade helping to reduce dust collection

• High quality, long life copper bearings designed to extend service life up to 50% over standard ball or sleeve bearing designs – MTBF rated at 150,000 hours

• Available in 3-pin (non-PWM) or 4-pin (PWM) versions

• Comes in a variety of colors and with or without white LED

• 140mm versions available for most standard PC system applications

Pros: Color

Cons: Didn't fit on the bottom intake of my case, though that's my PSU's fault.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lots of air flow.
Looks nice.

Cons: The fan makes a dinging noise at low rpms. Very annoying. I bought it because it had a good dba rating for a 140 size fan.

Other Thoughts: At high RPMs it is silent

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pushes alot of air at low DB, mounts in 120mm slots, nice look and white LED's, 4 pin connector allows motherboard to control speed

Cons: doesn't fit all 120mm slots (due to size restraints)

I will only buy these (and the 120mm version) ever again, which will be more expensive...

I had to put something in cons...

Other Thoughts: Fan is very silent at 800-1000, motherboard spins it up faster when my system starts heating up. Installed in front 120mm of Cougar Spike mATX case!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Fan

Pros: Good looking fan to say the least. The white LED's look great with the orange. Albeit they are a bit bright. Their round shape allow these 140mm fans to mount in SOME 120mm spots.

Cons: They come nowhere near close to pushing 90 CFM when you have it plugged directly into the the power supply using a molex adapter. They push perhaps 40 at best. I'm thinking about trying them without molex just to see if there is a difference in performance.
They also clunk a bit as they spin up. Perhaps its because i have them mounted as top exhaust fans, but it doesn't prevent me from being angry about it. They quiet up as they got to full rpm though.

Other Thoughts: They're supposed to last a long time. Only time will tell if they live up to their life expectancy. If they can do that much, i can overlook their shortcomings.

3 out of 5 eggsWhat a drag...

Pros: Great looking fan with a very unique glow to it! Moves lots of air quietly (when positioned correctly: read cons).

Cons: Wanted to use this as an exhaust fan on the top of my case, meaning the fans would be positioned upside down. I installed them and booted up the system, to my dismay, both fans I received started making a horrible rattling from within the center of the fan. When pressure was applied to the center of the back plate, of the fan, the noise would stop or reduce greatly. There was no way of retaining this pressure though. I took both fans out and ran power to them outside of the case: Upside down they produced the same rattling noise I previously mentioned. Right side up, they produced zero noise and where very pleasant, the same scenario was found when I had them stand on their sides (vertically). After re-installing these fans on the top of my case as intake rather than exhaust (Right side up vs. upside down), they were quiet as can be expected of a fan.

As great as these fans are positioned correctly, the design flaw keeping me from configuring intake and exhaust the way I please, knocks off two eggs. Very annoyed at Xigmatek. For future builds I will find another manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: Great for side windows or for any intake solution, just make sure you keep the shiny sticker facing upward.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat fan

Pros: exceptional air flow with very low noise. I got this fan during one of neweggs weekend sales and got it for ~30% off. Aside from the great performance i do appreciate the look and the LED's aren't too bright. For the price i haven't purchased a better fan.

Cons: not really a con but full rpms and max CFM produces considerable noise.. not from the motor but more of a windy noise just from the sheer amount of air being moved. I've got the fan hooked up to a controller and have it static at anywhere from 50-65% which produces very very little noise.

Other Thoughts: I've got this mounted internally in my HAF-XB with a universal magnetic bracket, hung from the top blowing cool air directly onto my Accelero Twin Turbo II cooled GTX 680 (to keep the caps at the end of the PCB cool under load). It's doing an incredible job to say the least. It's a wonderful addition to my silent gaming rig.

I stole it at the discount, but if you the missed the sale i'd say its still worth full price.

5 out of 5 eggsGood fan

Pros: Moves a lot of air.
not too loud until it really spins up.

Cons: I kind of regret getting the LED version b/c they are bright.
A toggle for them would have been nice.

Other Thoughts: Moves more air out of the back of my case than my CM Excaliburs on my heat sink push so they don't get backed up.
