Overview

The new Xigmatek XAF Series of 140mm system fans continues the company’s innovative design focus to provide advanced features and performance while maintaining excellent value to the end user. The innovative “waveform” shape of the fan blades on the XAF series aren’t just for show and provide real performance benefits. The XAF series also features a very high quality copper bearing system which extends the service life of the fan 50% over that of fans using regular ball or sleeve bearings.

A New Wave in Fan Design

The unique “waveform” fan blade shape of the XAF series fans were specifically designed to maximize airflow per revolution. The “waveform” shape, along with the minimized central hub, increases the surface area of each fan blade over traditional designs and delivers up to 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs over normal fan designs. Furthermore, unlike traditional fans which act like an air scoop, the irregularly shaped wave of air that forms in front of the “waveform” blade helps to reduce the collection of dust on the fan blade itself.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade designed for performance – The unique shape of the XAF series fan blades and the minimally sized central hub dramatically increases blade surface area and generates 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs to traditional fans. More airflow equals better cooling performance.

• Dramatically reduces dust collection – Traditional curved fan designs act like air scoops and over time they collect dust over the entire blade which increases air resistance and decreases performance. The unique “waveform” fan blade of the XAF series generates an irregularly shaped pressure wave in front of the fan blade which helps to reduce dust collection.

• High quality copper bearing for long life – The bearing is the heart of a fan system. Xigmatek’s use of superior grade copper materials for the bearing system ensures up to 50% longer service life than regular ball or sleeve bearing designs. The thin frame makes mounting a breeze almost anywhere. Im also a fan of the sleeved cable. Cons: none so far, i thought the mounting brackets were annoying at first. Once i got them installed however its a very solid design and they are very easy to attach. Other Thoughts: they are a little on the expensive side. But it is a quality fan. LEDs aren't too bright, aren't to dim. Cons: Watching the thinnish fan housing contort and listing to the plastic creek as I put the case screws in was a bit worrying, but after pulling the fan off to inspect for damage there was none. Other Thoughts: If possible use the included adapters when installing, process goes much easier and lets you avoid stressing the housing any. Did you find this review helpful? If you run it at 100% you will hear the air blowing/moving so not silent. Mine is good at between 75-80% power. Cons: The white LEDS are stupid. What was I thinking? Maybe I’ll take a sharpie to them. Shipping was spendy. Shouldn’t have to pay shipping if you by a bunch of stuff. Other Thoughts: Screwwed into a 120mm fan size but is bigger. I had both 14cm and 12cm. adapter things came with it to go into a 14cm I think i'll get another<no ledz> We'll see how long it lasts.... Did you find this review helpful? Cons: I'm not a pro with fans or anything so I'm not sure if you're just not supposed to install these kind of fans lying flat (top of case) because they made some noise when I had em there. Touching the front made it stop for a short time. I ended up just putting them on the side of the case and they're fine. 5 eggs if noise of cause of my ignorance. It's silent just like the other xigmateks I have (which are the crystal series 120mm white LED fans), but this one moves much more air. Cons: The molex adapter that it comes with isn't an extender like the one that comes w/ the crystal series fans. This one is only about 2 inches long, whereas the others are around 8-10 inches long. I wouldn't have been able to plug it in where I wanted to if I didn't have an extra molex adapter/extender that came with one of the other xigmateks. Other Thoughts: I used this fan to replace the rear 120mm exhaust fan in a Corsair 600T case, it moves much more air than the stock fan. This fan BARELY fits in that slot, but it does fit. Also, when you go to put the side panel back on, it will not be a perfect fit on that rear edge/corner of the case, because part of the side panel will bump ever so slightly into the side of the fan. It's just the corner of the side panel that doesn't line up perfectly w/ the rest of the case, but the panel WILL snap fully into place. It is hardly noticeable, most people won't notice it unless you point it out to them and they look at it from the side. The corner only protrudes out like 2mm...not enough for any light to shine through. It's not enough to bother me.
