Overview

The new Xigmatek XAF Series of 140mm system fans continues the company’s innovative design focus to provide advanced features and performance while maintaining excellent value to the end user. The innovative “waveform” shape of the fan blades on the XAF series aren’t just for show and provide real performance benefits. The XAF series also features a very high quality copper bearing system which extends the service life of the fan 50% over that of fans using regular ball or sleeve bearings.

Xigmatek XAF-F1454

A New Wave in Fan Design

The unique “waveform” fan blade shape of the XAF series fans were specifically designed to maximize airflow per revolution. The “waveform” shape, along with the minimized central hub, increases the surface area of each fan blade over traditional designs and delivers up to 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs over normal fan designs. Furthermore, unlike traditional fans which act like an air scoop, the irregularly shaped wave of air that forms in front of the “waveform” blade helps to reduce the collection of dust on the fan blade itself.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade designed for performance – The unique shape of the XAF series fan blades and the minimally sized central hub dramatically increases blade surface area and generates 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs to traditional fans. More airflow equals better cooling performance.

• Dramatically reduces dust collection – Traditional curved fan designs act like air scoops and over time they collect dust over the entire blade which increases air resistance and decreases performance. The unique “waveform” fan blade of the XAF series generates an irregularly shaped pressure wave in front of the fan blade which helps to reduce dust collection.

• High quality copper bearing for long life – The bearing is the heart of a fan system. Xigmatek’s use of superior grade copper materials for the bearing system ensures up to 50% longer service life than regular ball or sleeve bearing designs. Greater reliability gives you peace of mind for your PC system.

5 out of 5 eggsPumps out air and is VERY quiet

Pros: Had it for almost a year now, connected to a fan controller. Even at full power, I can barely hear it over my ceiling fan blowing air at my head. Still works great and pumps out rising hot air coming from my cpu fan

Cons: Round so there are some gaps. Could be pushing out more air if these were filled. I wouldn't recommend placing it on a grille with sides larger than the diameter of the fan.

2 out of 5 eggsNot the best fans

Pros: Look good out of the box, nice bright white LED on all four corners, cool looking blades

Cons: all three of the ones i ordered made a clicking or clacking sound shortly after I installed them in my case probably bad bearings, and I fairly sure they do not put out there rated CFM probably closer to 70 cfm not 90.

Other Thoughts: don't but these fans

4 out of 5 eggsGreat looks, silent operation

Pros: A great looking quiet fan that seems to have good airflow and useful RPM range. The sleeved cable looks nice.

Cons: One of the fans I bought was noisy and I had it replaced after almost a year and the replacement is a slightly different color than the original.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these and one of them would make a clicking sound intermittently, I thought it was because I had it mounted in the top of my case with fan facing downwards and figured it was more meant to be horizontal, but eventually it turned into a pretty annoying rattle at speeds above idle and the other one didn't do it so at just shy of 1yr I RMA'd it and now both are silent. The 120/140 mounting system seems pretty useful, They also work on non PWM circuits that use voltage control although it seems 100% on PWM seems faster than 100% voltage.

2 out of 5 eggsOdd fan

Pros: So this fan LOOKS amazing. The colors that the lights project are great. Moves a far amount of air as a case cooler. Nice sleeving on the cord.

Cons: This fan is round. Therefore, unless you are using it as a rear case cooler, it leaves gaps when you mount it and therefore reduces its ability to pull air in. You want a solid seal to make the pressure higher to move air. With a round fan, you don't get that. Even further, you need brackets to make this fit a 140mm hole, even though it is advertised as a 140mm fan. Pressure was decent, but falls through the floor in real world usage. Circle looks cool, but doesn't match anything else in the case. Expensive.

Other Thoughts: Could be a great fan, but the circle body faults it. Short cord doesn't help. Make the cord longer, and include an optional square bracket to help increase the static pressure back to the advertised amount. Or just make the fan square like normal. Expensive for the performance. Mainly for looks.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan

Pros: Looks great, makes very little noise, and moves a lot of air. The thin frame makes mounting a breeze almost anywhere. Im also a fan of the sleeved cable.

Cons: none so far, i thought the mounting brackets were annoying at first. Once i got them installed however its a very solid design and they are very easy to attach.

Other Thoughts: they are a little on the expensive side. But it is a quality fan.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat fan

Pros: this fan looks great in my case and moves alot of air its led are very bright and it adds a nice touch

Cons: you can see lights on signing through case this is not an isue for me but may be for you and also be shore that u check the static pressure its really low... so be carfull when adding this to a radiator or heatsink as it may not have enough pressure to properly cool may be check the Xigmatek XAF-F1255 120MM PWM Fan with Copper Bushing Axis Black Blade White LED out thats what im mounting on my h100

5 out of 5 eggsHigh speed, Low drag! =P

Pros: Works as advertised.
Moves air quietly when unrestricted.
LEDs aren't too bright, aren't to dim.

Cons: Watching the thinnish fan housing contort and listing to the plastic creek as I put the case screws in was a bit worrying, but after pulling the fan off to inspect for damage there was none.

Other Thoughts: If possible use the included adapters when installing, process goes much easier and lets you avoid stressing the housing any.

5 out of 5 eggsI’m happy

Pros: Seems to blow (a lot of air). No hums/wining, so very quiet. If you run it at 100% you will hear the air blowing/moving so not silent. Mine is good at between 75-80% power.

Cons: The white LEDS are stupid. What was I thinking? Maybe I’ll take a sharpie to them. Shipping was spendy. Shouldn’t have to pay shipping if you by a bunch of stuff.

Other Thoughts: Screwwed into a 120mm fan size but is bigger. I had both 14cm and 12cm. adapter things came with it to go into a 14cm
I think i'll get another<no ledz> We'll see how long it lasts....

4 out of 5 eggsAlright

Pros: Quiet. Looks good.

Cons: I'm not a pro with fans or anything so I'm not sure if you're just not supposed to install these kind of fans lying flat (top of case) because they made some noise when I had em there.
Touching the front made it stop for a short time. I ended up just putting them on the side of the case and they're fine.
5 eggs if noise of cause of my ignorance.

Other Thoughts: Noise level is lower than I expected. Will probably get some more powerful fans for my systems intake.
