The new Xigmatek XAF Series of 120mm system fans continues the company’s innovative design focus to provide advanced features and performance while maintaining excellent value to the end user. The innovative “waveform” shape of the fan blades on the XAF series aren’t just for show and provide real performance benefits. The XAF series also features a very high quality copper bearing system which extends the service life of the fan 50% over that of fans using regular ball or sleeve bearings.

Xigmatek XAF-F1251

A New Wave in Fan Design

The unique “waveform” fan blade shape of the XAF series fans were specifically designed to maximize airflow per revolution. The “waveform” shape, along with the minimized central hub, increases the surface area of each fan blade over traditional designs and delivers up to 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs over normal fan designs. Furthermore, unlike traditional fans which act like an air scoop, the irregularly shaped wave of air that forms in front of the “waveform” blade helps to reduce the collection of dust on the fan blade itself.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade designed for performance – The unique shape of the XAF series fan blades and the minimally sized central hub dramatically increases blade surface area and generates 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs to traditional fans. More airflow equals better cooling performance.

• Dramatically reduces dust collection – Traditional curved fan designs act like air scoops and over time they collect dust over the entire blade which increases air resistance and decreases performance. The unique “waveform” fan blade of the XAF series generates an irregularly shaped pressure wave in front of the fan blade which helps to reduce dust collection.

• High quality copper bearing for long life – The bearing is the heart of a fan system. Xigmatek’s use of superior grade copper materials for the bearing system ensures up to 50% longer service life than regular ball or sleeve bearing designs. Greater reliability gives you peace of mind for your PC system.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade design to dramatically increase airflow up to 20% over standard blade designs

• “Waveform” blade produces irregular air pressure wave at the front of the blade helping to reduce dust collection

• High quality, long life copper bearings designed to extend service life up to 50% over standard ball or sleeve bearing designs – MTBF rated at 150,000 hours

• Available in 3-pin (non-PWM) or 4-pin (PWM) versions

• Comes in a variety of colors and with or without white LED

• 120mm versions available for most standard PC system applications

1 out of 5 eggsSeized.

Pros: Looks. They move air.

Cons: Seized up, wouldn't spin or get power. The ones that did work after about 2 months started to wobble and hit the case casuing a loud knocking and stopping the fanblade.

Other Thoughts: Warning... If you buy these make sure to check they are working often. You could burn up your parts inside your case.

3 out of 5 eggslouder than expected

Pros: looks good

Cons: quite a bit louder than expected, compared it back to back to a Noctua NF-S12A PWM i have and even with the rpms on the Xigmatek turned down to 85% (roughly same CFM as Noctua at 100%) the Xigmatek was still way louder

Other Thoughts: I've used Noctua fans for most of my builds, but bought a new case with a side window and was hoping to find something that looked better with close to equal sound/performance levels, just ordered a Silenx 120mm fan so we'll see how that goes.

2 out of 5 eggsmuch too loud

Pros: 75CFM
good price
attractive fan blade design

Cons: interminably loud

Other Thoughts: I bought this because it had the highest airflow (75CFM) at the lowest decibels (24 dBA) of all that I had compared. Priced reasonably too.

It has the airflow all right, but they're lying about the dBA rating. This thing is like a hair dryer. I couldn't hear music without headphones.

I dumped it and put in a SilenX EFX-12-15 (74CFM at 15dBA) and am much happier.

I give it two eggs simply because it lasted the two months it was in my machine and had enough flow to keep my machine cool in ninety degree weather.

4 out of 5 eggsShiny Whiny Wavy Fan

Pros: I'm a sucker for exotic looks, and these fans sure do look exotic, so I got a pair without LEDs. I'm too old for LEDs.

The metallic edge of the blades look nice, and the shape of the blade itself is pleasing to the eye.

The fan moves a good amount of air, but I've got no way of measuring how much. The box claims 75.3 CFM at 1500 RPM and I have no reason to doubt it.

The bearing feels very smooth and of high quality construction. spin them with your hands and they are almost silent and keep spinning a long time.

Both fans I got ran at the rated 1500 rpm.

The design of the blades DOES seem to reduce dust build up on the underside of the blades, but dust still gathers on them, and lint gets caught on the leading edges. You're still going to be dusting these fans, just not quite so often I suppose.

It came with 4 mounting screws and the power/RPM wires are sleeved and shrink wrapped beautifully. The package was easy to open. No blades needed.

Cons: These fans are not quiet! They whine like like a teen girl, at pitches that will make your dog hide under your couch.

Hyperbole aside, these 2 fans sounded louder to me then my graphics cards do at idle. (2X SLI EVGA Nvidia GTX 660) Once the graphics card fans got to about 60% speed, they became louder then these fans. These fans sound like turbine engines. Not a standard fan whine.

I think the reason they get a 24dBA noise level is that the A rating for decibels is weighted for low frequency sounds. All the noise these make are in the high frequency range.

Other Thoughts: My only complaint about this fan is how much noise it makes, and I complain about that because I'm an old fart who is past his hardcore gamer years.

If noise isn't an issue for you, this is a great fan. It's got a great cool factor, and it moves lots of air. The bearing feels built to last and that's something that can be hard to find. The noise of a failing bearing drives me crazy.

Another curious phenomenon I discovered concerned the dust filter on my Antec 300 case. There was an audible change in pitch depending on how much airflow restriction there was. No filter vs. clean filter vs. dirty filter. Each had distinct tones. RPM of the fan's were not significantly effected.

This is not a HTPC fan. This is a gaming rig fan. This is a fan that announces to the world, "When I grow up, I'm going to be on the wing of a 777 Dream-liner!" Get the version with LED's in them, these fans are made to be shown off.

Pros: the only noise I hear is when the fans are on at full tilt

Cons: the cables are short but a simple 3 pin cable extender will fix this

5 out of 5 eggsblows hard

Pros: managed to nab 3 of these @ 8$ each. working great. put 1 on my Xigmatek GAIA cpu heatsink, and 2 on my case to replace my 5+ year old 120mm fans... what a difference! way less noise and way more airflow.

Cons: nope.avi

Other Thoughts: my case is 7+ years old, and has seen 3 different CPU/mobo combos. currently running and i5-2500k OC'd at 4.2ghz + AMD 7870 GHZ edition .... and this is now the coolest that my case interior has ever run in the past 7 years. lulz.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Seems quiet, then again I have three Silverstone 180 mm Air Perpetrators in my case too. It is priced very well, and it outperforms the stock Silverstone 120 mm that I had in there.

Cons: As someone else said, it does not slice and dice and will not julienne fries. Most newer fans have these features, so I hope they add this in newer models.

Other Thoughts: The white edges of the fan look nice when spinning. The white edges of the fan will face inwards if you use it as an exhaust fan. The other side doesn't have the white edges and looks pretty standard, just the company logo and some wires. But if you are considering this fan because it is cheaper than the ones with LED lights, you probably don't care.

5 out of 5 eggsGushes Air

Pros: Quiet and powerful

Cons: Does not slice and dice and will not julienne fries for anything. Does not remove stains as well as oxiclean.

Other Thoughts: They look very nice. They can really move some air. They should be on some kind of fan controller as at full power they move so much air you hear the air moving pretty strong. Some people want totally quiet fans that move lots of air but air blowing makes noise for the mentally deficient out there. I keep my fan controller turned down to what looks like about 30% and they are barely audible. Waht I can hear is just wind movement. I could go lower and they would still cool but the noise is under my two apevia fans the came with my case so effectively I can not hear them. I find it hard to buy fans because their are so many conflicting reviews. I Like these they are the quietest and most powerful I have owned.

1 out of 5 eggsgood fans terrible dilivery service !!!

Pros: read cons

Cons: puralator is by far the worst delivery service. the driver never knocked at my door i live in an apartment/ house set up he didnt bother finding the right apartment it was to hard for him, so he just went to the mailbox and dropped the pick up slip in my mailbox. i know this because i was waiting for my delivery ALL day. i saw somone drop a slip in my box and thought that cant be the puraltor guy he didnt even bother walking up the stairs? i thought it had to of been the mailman but no it was the puraltor guy being lazy this is pathetic. then he scribbled the trackign number on the slip when i called purlator to tell them to reship my item i couldnt even give them the proper tracking number because of this worthless driver. i gave them my name and info and they said ok monday morning at 10 30 were goign to ship you your package i said fine. monday came and puralator was nowhere to be found. the day after they finally came at 4pm and said they couldnt make it on monday? wow just terrible cheap service from a cheap company. newegg get rid of them and use ups

Other Thoughts: worst experience in my life for 2 lousy computer fans. also the closest puraltor is an hour and 10 minute dive away so i cant pick it up in person. get rid of puraltor there cheap ive never had problems with ups or canada post but i can tell you this ive had several issues with puraltor. loser company
