The new Xigmatek XAF Series of 120mm/140mm system fans continues the company’s innovative design focus to provide advanced features and performance while maintaining excellent value to the end user. The innovative “waveform” shape of the fan blades on the XAF series aren’t just for show and provide real performance benefits. The XAF series also features a very high quality copper bearing system which extends the service life of the fan 50% over that of fans using regular ball or sleeve bearings.

Xigmatek XAF-F1255 PWM controlled fan

A New Wave in Fan Design

The unique “waveform” fan blade shape of the XAF series fans were specifically designed to maximize airflow per revolution. The “waveform” shape, along with the minimized central hub, increases the surface area of each fan blade over traditional designs and delivers up to 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs over normal fan designs. Furthermore, unlike traditional fans which act like an air scoop, the irregularly shaped wave of air that forms in front of the “waveform” blade helps to reduce the collection of dust on the fan blade itself.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade designed for performance – The unique shape of the XAF series fan blades and the minimally sized central hub dramatically increases blade surface area and generates 15%-20% more CFM at comparable RPMs to traditional fans. More airflow equals better cooling performance.

• Dramatically reduces dust collection – Traditional curved fan designs act like air scoops and over time they collect dust over the entire blade which increases air resistance and decreases performance. The unique “waveform” fan blade of the XAF series generates an irregularly shaped pressure wave in front of the fan blade which helps to reduce dust collection.

• High quality copper bearing for long life – The bearing is the heart of a fan system. Xigmatek’s use of superior grade copper materials for the bearing system ensures up to 50% longer service life than regular ball or sleeve bearing designs. Greater reliability gives you peace of mind for your PC system.

• Innovative “waveform” fan blade design to dramatically increase airflow up to 20% over standard blade designs

• “Waveform” blade produces irregular air pressure wave at the front of the blade helping to reduce dust collection

• High quality, long life copper bearings designed to extend service life up to 50% over standard ball or sleeve bearing designs – MTBF rated at 150,000 hours

• Available in 3-pin (non-PWM) or 4-pin (PWM) versions

• Comes in a variety of colors and with or without white LED

• 120mm/140mm versions available for most standard PC system applications

4 out of 5 eggs2 of 3 Good

Pros: Good Flow

Cons: 1 developed fairly noisy bearing after 2 months of 6 hours a day usage.

Other Thoughts: The white light looks very nice against the silvery grey blades. Very unique effect that I have not seen before.

5 out of 5 eggsClassy, Effective Fans

Pros: Airflow is quiet and high CFM. I love these fans! 2 in case, intake and exhaust.... among others. Work quietly. Doesn't light up my room like blue Christmas lights. Love the color of the subtle 4 LEDs per fan which are more silver as mentioned by somebody else. Just enough ambiance lighting so not to keep me awake and to let you know computer is on. Blade design crazy cool and 4 pin is great. Well worth the money to protect your investment. Solid construction.

Cons: wish I found them sooner. Price is steep, but worth it.

Other Thoughts: Arrows for airflow direction could help for installation. Also though power cable could have been an inch longer,,,, I have extended ATX Server case and motherboard so it fit, ...snug. I had to plan cable path for installation on the intake fan carefully and just barely fit.

I wish I found these sooner, saving me time and money on cheap Rosewill fans with extremely bright blue icicle lights.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Exactly as advertised

Pros: These fans are high CFM fans, and they come with the standard 4 case screws and a 4 pin molex to 3pin adapter. I have three of them in my case , running them directly from the power supply to get maximum airflow from them. They do sound a bit loader than 26dBA when used in this configuration. This is an excellent fan for what it is.

Cons: I have only one con, the fan is pushed as having a Aeronautical Oil System Bearing that Xigmatek claims has a 200,000 hour life expectancy, However in the "features" section they are listed as having a long life copper sleeve bearing that is rated at 50,000 hours. Sure enough that's what the package stated when they arrived as well. The Aeronautical Oil System Bearing was the reason I was willing to spend 20 bucks per fan, I would return them if it wasn't for the fact that these where replacements for the stock Xigmatek fan from my Dark Knight II cooler that the bearing died on after 6months.
I dropped 1 egg for misleading information.

Other Thoughts: I place a pair of these on my Dark Knight II cooler replacing the recently dead stock fan. These fans did improve my cooling as follows.
I have a AMD FX-8350 125Watt Cpu with it's stock cooler I got idle temps of 55c and load temps pushing 70c. Needless to say this was unacceptable. After a bit of research I came across the Dark Knight II cooler. however there was limited information out there at the time about its performance with my Cpu I took a chance and bought one. After installation with Arctic Silver 5 and the single stock fan I was getting 45c idle temps in windows 7 and load temps of 55c. However after placing 2 of these XAF-F1255 fans on the cooler I get 29c idle temps in windows 7 and 45c while under a load.
A much better solution, just wish they had the Aeronautical Oil System Bearings.

5 out of 5 eggsI love this Fan!

Pros: Low noise perfect white lighting led and very stylish. Out of all the fans I have purchased this one is my favorites. I love the design.
It also has a nice braided shielded black power PWM cord for disguising the cable and it is very sturdy.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I will buy more of this brand.

2 out of 5 eggsPWM doesn't work right

Pros: Seem to push air well, not as loud as I was worried they'd be based on reviews.
Actually match the dBA ratings advertised (BUT SEE CONS BELOW), and seem to push plenty of air (though I cant say whether its actually 90 CFM or not).

Cons: Ok, so the other review stating that 40% PWM+ = 1900 RPM is correct. It would not drop below 1950 RPM hooked up to my 4 pin CPU fan plug on the motherboard, however switching CPU fan control from PWM to voltage in the bios allowed the auto fan controller to drop it down to 1400 RPM, (still not as low as I'd hope considering my temps were very low at idle, only 30 C). They arent too loud at 1400 RPM, but they are quite louder than I would like at 1950 when PWM is on.
They're much quieter at 1800, which I'm sure is where they were dBA rated at, hence why most of these reviews are probably calling them much louder than they're rated at.

If you bought some of these, just turn their controllers to Voltage instead of PWM and you'll be satisfied, but 2 eggs for the fact that they cant actually be run in PWM mode without sounding like a jet taking off. Going to try and get them replaced with some of the brands 140's that have much better ratings, if the company lets me, since I dont think I can have chassis fans be voltage controlled, and therefore these are useless to me as they arent actually going to be used on my CPU.

Hopefully Xigmatek learns their lesson and fixes this in the future.

Other Thoughts: The 140mm Xigmateks seem to have much better reviews, would recommend trying them possibly, as these fans DO seem to push a lot of air, but would definitely not recommend buying PWM fans that cant be used in PWM mode. Expect these to be discontinued shortly, and hopefully replaced with some that actually work in PWM mode.

5 out of 5 eggsthey blow

Pros: Great design and airflow, PWM and awesome cable length and cable comes sleeved with a molex adapter/4 screws.
They blow, and they are good for radiators or filters.

Cons: Could come with voltage resistor but then again these are pwm and I haven't bought the standard ones yet.

Other Thoughts: Bearings seem to run pretty cool, they give a decent amount of air and that's the only noise you hear is the air.

5 out of 5 eggs6 gr8 PWM fans

Pros: Low DBA's, Awsome CFM with PWM activated.. More of a silver led verses white as stated. Adds a much more soft look to enhance its quality in dark environments. Placed one on my Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler,, one on the frount and one on rear case. (Two Cases, same install).

Cons: None at all, Over pleased

Other Thoughts: Cools much better on the 212 EVO verses the stock fan. Also looks better with LED. Received in three days fedX super saver Thanks to NewEggs promptness as always. Thank you!!!.

3 out of 5 eggsOooo It's Loud But Good

Pros: Moves plenty of air, as advertised.

Cons: I intended to use this as an upgrade to the radiator fan on my liquid cooler. I had to relegate it to the bottom of my case as a floor sucker and manually set the speed very low (900 RPM), and I also put an external pushbutton switch in its circuit to kill it when my work is not stressing the processor.

Other Thoughts: When it was installed in draw-thru on my radiator, it brought my core temperatures down about 5°C versus the OEM fan. Not bad. If you do processor-heavy engineering like I do, it's very much worth the price if you listen to music through headphones while it's running.
